1  Economy / Economics / Re: Is increase in minimum wage a good method to fight inflation? on: April 21, 2024, 03:59:36 PM
Well as for me, I think increase in minimum wage cannot fight inflation in any way. As we all know: Inflation is simply the continual increase in price of goods and commodities in the market. If there is increase in money supply without checkmating other factors like: High cost of production_ High cost of transportation of goods_ Increase in exportation than importation _High tax Levi on production and importation_ Higher demand and shortage in supply non governmental regulatory agencies to checkmate the prices that things are sold in the market and those deliberately hiding the products and goods that are meant to be displayed in sufficient quantities in the market for consumers e.g. The petrolatum products as the case may be.

Yes, as for me, I believe in your words "do not chase your losses". Especially when it comes to betting, you should not be too emotional... Because that way you could lose everything completely. That means you are desperate to win back what you lost before. My humble advice! Play the game knowing that it's a win or a loss, because it's like a two-sided coin: either heads or tails. Whatever comes up, take it in good faith and not with the thought of getting back everything you lost.
3  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Can we ever live in peaceful Coexistence on: April 11, 2024, 03:52:55 PM
On the subject of the discussion in the quote "Can we ever live in peaceful coexistence". In my opinion, it is possible in our society and in the world at large, perhaps not entirely, but to a greater extent, if only everyone plays a meaningful role in this regard when necessary.

I quote the philosopher Immanuel Kant: "Peace is not only the absence of war, but also the presence of justice, law, order - in short, of government." According to him, there is already war on earth as long as we coexist, but peace can be achieved if we ensure that there is justice in everything, that there is law and order binding the behaviour and activities of all people, and that there is good government that makes the law, interprets the law, and enforces the law on people without fear or favour. I believe that if all this is given, we can coexist in peace on this planet if only everyone plays a meaningful role in this regard when necessary.
4  Economy / Economics / Some attributing factors to the high cost of petroleum products in Nigeria on: April 11, 2024, 04:30:17 AM
Subsidy Removal:You know, when there's fuel subsidies, it means that the price of fuel is artificially lowered for consumers whereby our government absorb some production costs. But when this is no longer the same, distributors are are compensated anymore therefore leading to high cost of production and distribution hence, the effects on the final consumers.

Exchange rate fluctuation: When we imports high amounts of petroleum products from overseas and there is high differences in our exchange rate with dollar automatically the cost of importation increase which now affects the pump price of these products to the consumers.

Nevertheless, there are other factors that results to this increase as the case may be. Then from my own points of view, what is your opinion?...
