1  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: exmocryptoexchange.com on: June 07, 2024, 03:04:59 PM
Hi,

I am in a dilema here. I have a friend I met online we have been chatting for some time. We talked about crypto and he was telling me about automatic trading and stuff
I am curious what website you meet this friend. I smell something fishy that don't tell me you're into these websites like OF or dating apps?

I wanted to give it a go, I said 100$ will be ok for starters. Now after one week I was due to withdraw and they want me to send them payment as in handling fee. The site is exmocryptoexchange.com, has anyone heard of them or am I getting scammed?
It's a scam and that's why I want to know where did you meet this scammer. It's an obvious scam when that person mentioned you a certain platform where you should deposit your money. And upon making some things to show that you're winning with your trades and an increase in the amount of money you've got, they want you to deposit. That's the next scam that they want you to bite and, there's no way to get your money back. The name of the exchange itself is sketchy.

I met him on discord. I am in a server that is for like people that love to travel because I travel a lot and there is a lot of advice and ideas there. He added me and just asked if it's ok because he is new there and doesn't know anyone. We talked for quite some time so yes it was my fault to thik he was genuine.

That's what I thought at the beginning. It's too good to be true, I got 10,609.00$ from 100.00$ in one week. I said okay If I lose another 100$ no big deal, but they are asking for more all the time.
if you thought it was too good to be true you should not have deposited $100. there are a lot of scammers looking for victims online. I am curious as to what made you decide to actually give in and deposit money on their website.

if they continue contacting you and trying to convince you to deposit more or pay the "handling fee" just ignore them, you'll get scammed again if you send them any money.

anyway, at least you didn't lose more money, there have been victims who posted here in the forum saying that they lost thousands of dollars to this type of scam.

I had no idea what I'm going into. I just wanted to invest 100$ to see how the crypto market works. And The friend I was talking to said he has been trading with them for some time and I thought I'd give it a go. After one week I saw that I had 10K on my account so thet's when I knew it's too good to be true, after that I didn't give them any more money. And yes I lost 100$ some people lose thousands.

I haven't heard of them. Just know that you have been scammed. Any crypto trading platform that asks for payment as a condition to withdrawal of your funds is a scam crypto trading platform. Your friend has don you dirty for not being opened and straightforward with it. Secondly you did yourself dirty by listening and trusting your friend 100% without doing your due diligence.

There is a lesson to learn from this -Do your own research because if you don't you will wish you had.
