1  Economy / Service Announcements / Update 20/08/25 | ZatoBox: merchants, dockerization, and go to market launch on: August 20, 2025, 09:26:29 PM
₿ Hello, Bitcoin community.

A few weeks ago, we had the privilege of meeting with Car — CEO and CoFounder of PlebLab An incredible person, no doubt. His advice at this early stage was key to accelerating our development and bringing ZatoBox to the real world faster than we had planned.

https://youtu.be/Tv5PcMXJGDo?si=jdNo6sCTepX98c-7

🧭 Where we stand now
That conversation was the catalyst. Although we had been building in the background, these past weeks have been a period of intense execution. Today, we can say we’ve accomplished:

  • Team expansion: we brought in key members full-time for technical development and marketing, strengthening our core.
  • Backend rebuilt from scratch: with Python, FastAPI, and Flask. The previous version worked locally as a hackathon demo, but wasn’t scalable. Now we’re building a modular architecture ready for the real world.
  • Started dockerization: first test version already running.
  • Validated with real merchants: we met our first users in Ecuador, learning about real pain points: inventory management, marketing, and customer communication via WhatsApp (more details in the video).
  • Global market analysis: using tools like BTC Maps, we identified the types of businesses already adopting Bitcoin and where to focus our efforts.

🔭 What’s next (ETA: next 15 days)
We fast-forwarded ~2 months of work into 15 days. The product is already ~80% usable. Next steps:

  • Finalize dockerization, enable payment gateways and OCR, and fix existing bugs.
  • Open ZatoBox channels to start receiving direct feedback.
  • Shape our marketing strategy and build the first "sales" funnel (focused on getting users for feedback).
  • Define and verticalize a specific product for launch (currently under discussion).

🤝 Open call to collaborators
ZatoBox was born open source — by design, not by convenience.

We believe in building public infrastructure for private businesses. Technology that respects ownership, sovereignty, and simplicity.

We’re looking for contributors to help us build:
  • Backend and frontend developers (Python / FastAPI / React)
  • UX/UI designers
  • Product thinkers & system architects
  • Bitcoiners who understand real-world adoption
  • Creators and community organizers

If you care about local commerce, sovereignty, and building tools that work for people, we’d love to hear from you.

🎯 Our mission remains unchanged
Empower 50,000 small businesses in 5 years,
without banks, intermediaries, or vendor lock-in.

ZatoBox is a toolset for real merchants. We want any entrepreneur — even non-technical ones — to set up a store, accept Bitcoin, sync inventory, and grow their business... in minutes.

2  Bitcoin / Project Development / [OPEN SOURCE] Modular POS – Repository in Progress Feedback Welcome! on: July 21, 2025, 09:56:39 PM
BTC

Hello, BitcoinTalk community.

I come from the retail world and I’m not a programmer (please don’t judge my code 😅). I was a non-technical founder of another crypto-based startup, and when I shifted to working with local businesses, I realized that many solutions for small merchants aren’t great: they tend to be expensive, unintuitive, and time-consuming. Plus, there’s almost no automation that truly saves time.

That’s why I decided to start an open-source point of sale (POS) with these core ideas:

  • Functional POS (still in its early stages, but already visible and usable).
  • One-click smart inventory (OCR for automated inventory management, also in its early stages).
  • Modular structure: use only what you need (the idea is to let each business easily adapt the modules).
  • BTC/Lightning support (not yet coded, but planned).
Current Status
  • Can be cloned, installed, and run locally with a temporary database.
  • The OCR is halfway done in a separate repo, awaiting integration.
  • No payment gateway yet (only cash option for now).
  • The roadmap and basic issues are public, but the repo still needs organization, tests, and migration to a proper database.
What I Need Right Now
  • Fresh eyes to review the project structure and share feedback.
  • Simple pull requests: seed scripts, initial tests, folder cleanup.
  • Ideas on architecture before the project scales up.
As I mentioned, I’m not a developer, but I want to push this project forward. With the help of those of you with a more technical perspective, I know we can make progress.

So, if you’re a veteran or junior developer and like the idea of being part of something just getting started, this project might interest you. And if you know someone who might be interested, I’d greatly appreciate it if you share this info.

My ultimate goal is to create a free and open tool for small entrepreneurs (whether or not they’re part of the Bitcoin community) to help them grow and simplify their business operations.

If you feel like reviewing or leaving suggestions, feel free to drop by anytime. Any feedback is helpful at this early stage.

Thanks for reading!
3  Other / Beginners & Help / Why Do You Use Bitcoin? Share Your Story of Resilience and Freedom on: February 14, 2025, 07:04:50 PM
Good day, fellow Bitcointalk members!

Recently, I read an extremely interesting post about "why" someone decided to join this forum, and it inspired me to propose an idea and a question.

I believe the real question is: Why do you use Bitcoin? I know there will always be people who see it as a way to get rich overnight or from an economic perspective, but I'm convinced that a large part of the community has deeper stories that explain their connection to this technology.

I'd like to hear your origin stories. I'd also like to ask permission to publish your stories; it's not for a large or important organization, but for a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting freedom. I'd love to share your experiences. It's not necessary to include names or nicknames; everything will be completely anonymous. If you'd like to add your nickname, you can mention it in your response.

Here's my story and how I came to join you:

I believe everyone in the world seeks peace and freedom, consciously or unconsciously, but when we're conscious of it, it affects us more because we recognize that there are factors in our lives that don't allow us to be free. The breaking point in my case was corruption, injustice, personal insecurity, and crime.

With this said, we realize that we don't live in the first world; if we did, maybe the problems would be fewer... haha. But I don't minimize anyone else's problems; I like to laugh at myself a bit because, after more than a decade of living the same way, you get used to it and it's no longer new.

It all started with the theft of our family's assets due to many injustices and state corruption. After that, many years passed where we didn't do well at all, but thanks to God, we always had our daily needs covered. Later, when the situation stabilized a bit, we were victims of an armed robbery where they stripped away the little we had accumulated. We clearly feared for our lives and our family's financial future.

At that point, one wonders: "How do you get up twice in a row from nothing?" Only God knows how we managed, but we moved forward. Later on, we started a venture that improved our short-term future; however, we again fell under the weight of injustice and state corruption, accompanied by crime. These three factors feed off each other.

At this point, anyone would think it's not worth trying to excel in any job because you're quickly "beheaded" by corruption and injustice. Personal insecurity is something that has tormented both my family and me for a long time, and it's not so simple to just leave and leave everything behind; there are things that still anchor us here. However, until now, Bitcoin has brought some peace in this chaos that has been affecting us for decades... at least until there's nothing else holding us back in this situation.

I understand that my story may not be very clear, but I'm simply trying to maintain my privacy Smiley. Also, I clarify that this is not a sad story; I like to see it as a story of resilience, so I consider it something positive. My advice for those going through difficult times is to see life as I do: the sun always comes out after the rain. And of course, every good story with an interesting plot is full of development... that is, problems.

What's your story? I'd love to read it.

The real world versus the digital world: two realities that, at first glance, differ, but which today present few distinctions. Both spheres intertwine in practically every aspect of our lives, leaving the imprint of our identity and humanity in both the tangible and the virtual.

The 21st century has not only brought unprecedented innovation but also massive access to new technologies by people who are unaware of their true functioning. The cryptographic world, conceived by thousands of anonymous individuals, was born to defend basic principles that humanity must firmly preserve if it wishes to maintain its freedom in an increasingly technological present and future. Even today, there are examples demonstrating the possibility of exercising control over great nations without the need to resort to technological tools. This suggests that, by incorporating such tools, we could find ourselves under constant surveillance in all areas of life.
      -snip-

The first right all modern government violates is our right to remain silent. They are all corrupt to the core and violate our most fundamental rights. Without reporting each other's income's the government would have a nearly impossible task of determining how much money we make and have to just look at the home we live in from afar. What you are saying requires a rebuild of the internet from the ground up in most regards... there is a proposal out there called Zeronet with zero censorship and full free speech rights, but it is only in the beginning stage of development. There are two Zeronet projects and one is not a decentralized web hosting system, the one that is is the one that is the full solution to this issue.[/list]

Yes, I have had the opportunity to see what you mentioned above, but as I said, it is a slow battle to educate those who do not know about privacy and its benefits.

Zeronet or other platforms that try to give freedom to the Internet will become the standard sooner or later.
9  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The Silent Guard: A Manifesto for Privacy and Anonymity on: December 25, 2024, 02:10:50 AM
All lovely but at the same time you are renouncing anything that makes the modern times modern to be honest. Any and all apps are clear that if you do not see the product, the product is you, your data and information.

It would be much better to promote the right to be digitally forgotten and to fully erase your data and ban any contract that takes your data and information as if it were a freby for offering a shitty app.

While it would be ideal to have a Death Star button to delete all your information, what would happen to the new crypto and non-crypto financial apps or management apps that tend to attract a lot of government regulation? As the founder of an app, there are two ways: either you disappear from the face of the earth/create the app from scratch, which is Satoshi mode, or you are forced by governments to do KYC to avoid going to jail. I would love for everyone to participate in this question: is there a way to scale apps without government regulation without being persecuted? I open the debate

11  Other / Politics & Society / The Silent Guard: A Manifesto for Privacy and Anonymity on: December 15, 2024, 11:51:14 PM

In this context, it is our duty to safeguard our own privacy.

We must unite and create systems that enable decentralization and anonymity on the network, while also educating those who are just beginning in this world. The adoption or incorporation of new members is positive; however, today almost everything is managed through a third party, placing us in a position of vulnerability. At some point, we may interact with people who use the same systems but who do not take the necessary precautions regarding anonymity and privacy. If that third party came to know our identity, we would be in check, since under the demands of any law, prohibition, or government mandate, it could be forced to reveal this information. This would mean exposing our identity; and if we refuse, the favorite weapon of any government—force—could be imposed, forcing us to act against our will.

In light of this panorama, I propose the following steps:

        Fundamental Principles
        Sovereignty over one's own information:
No entity—governments, corporations, or intermediaries—should have the power to monitor or control personal and financial information without the explicit consent of the one who generates it.

        Privacy as an inalienable right:
Privacy is not a luxury but a basic human right. In the crypto world, this implies dissociating physical-world identities from digital addresses, maintaining confidentiality in transactions.

        Anonymity and decentralization:
We advocate for the use of protocols, tools, and strategies that strengthen anonymity and decentralization, reducing dependence on centralized exchanges and building an ecosystem resistant to censorship and surveillance.

        Security above all:
Security is the first line of defense. Using secure wallets, strong authentication, robust encryption, and good practices in managing private keys is essential to avoid falling into the hands of attackers, spies, or other malicious entities.

If this first line of defense is compromised, we propose establishing a Silence Movement, in which all involved commit to the following:

        • Do not comment, do not reveal, do not identify:
Let your transactions and addresses speak for themselves, without associating them with your name, your face, or your reputation.

        • Do not contribute to surveillance:
Avoid platforms, exchanges, and services that require unnecessary personal data. Prefer decentralized alternatives, resistant to censorship, and focused on privacy.

        • Do not say anything about yourself or others:
Keep silent about your movements, avoid the exchange of sensitive information in public spaces, and respect the anonymity of others. The best defense is the absence of useful data for those who seek to control us.
        -

Faced with a hostile environment that aims to subdue individual autonomy, the response is silent resistance. By safeguarding our information, protecting our assets, and honoring the initial spirit of the crypto world, we reinforce the freedom and dignity of each participant. May the cryptospace remain firm, sovereign, and voiceless to intruders; silence will, paradoxically, be our loudest cry.

Let's unite in a tacit pact of discretion, prioritizing privacy, anonymity, and security. Let's spread this manifesto, make it our own, and apply it in our daily conduct in the digital world. May silence and reserve be our weapons against surveillance and coercion.

Clearly, in financial terms, such an idea is difficult to sustain but perhaps not impossible. The idea is good and aligns with the vision of speed when it comes to payments.

It's feasible to make everything open source. Let me open a small parenthesis to better explain my business solution: The idea of the POS we're developing is to facilitate all the tasks behind running a business, automate repetitive tasks that are no less important, and, in fact, some pillars such as inventory management through OCR and real-time changes in the POS database and its ecommerce.

Based on the first version of the POS we'll release, we could take 2 routes based on what you mentioned:

        • Creating a fork where one version is opensource without "smart" OCR functions and the other is paid with everything included

        • Release the same version in opensource with the difference that you'll need to configure the whole setup and train the "AI" to recognize invoices. In other words, provide everything necessary to set up the infrastructure. This would make the code ultra-transparent but perhaps somewhat difficult to set up...

We really need to think about which direction is best in terms of economics and transparency/giving back to the BTC community Smiley but I like your idea and will investigate it further keeping it in mind.

Thank you very much for the feedback and time. Cheesy

Before saying goodbye, the first version we're making is for cloud PC, so if it works well, the idea is to bring it to mobile and ideally own terminals to implement an idea I had: setting up a BTC node in each terminal.

        Hey Bitcoiners!

I'm developing a Bitcoin-integrated Point of Sale (POS) system and would love to get your insights on essential features and decentralization aspects.

        Features Under Consideration:
        • Auto crypto-to-fiat conversion

15  Other / Politics & Society / Democracy is a Sham: Bitcoin is Our Only Salvation! on: December 01, 2024, 11:59:11 PM
In Plato's ancient Greece, democracy was initially created to give power to the people, who exercised it directly or through elected representatives. It promoted equality before the law, the active participation of citizens in politics and the protection of individual rights and freedoms. However, at the time, democracy also faced challenges, as not everyone could vote: women, slaves and resident aliens were excluded. Although today this has changed and anyone over the age of 18 can vote, today the issue is different and perhaps similar in many countries where there is a democratic government.
Before delving deeper, we must understand what our democracies are made up of. In general, they are composed of the following formula:
We have a Legislative Branch, which is in charge of drafting, modifying and approving laws, and which, depending on the country, is the Congress, Parliament or National Assembly.
Subsequently, we have the Judicial Branch, which is in charge of interpreting the laws and resolving legal conflicts, ensuring respect for constitutional rights. It is formed by the Supreme Court and the lower courts.
And to complete the trifecta, we have the Executive Branch, which is in charge of applying and executing the laws; it directs the policies of the government, being headed by the President or the Prime Minister.

So far everything sounds good, but if we add certain characteristics, you will understand that perhaps this system is not the best. Let's first concentrate on the Legislative Branch; this, in theory, works as long as all participants vote in a particular direction to form unity in favor of the people. Don't get me wrong: the objective is to discuss and debate what is best for the people; therefore, everything has to be under constructive criticism from pro to con. But if we are faced with corruption and high conflicts of interest, the scenario changes drastically; the Legislative Branch becomes a place where laws are created and approved for the benefit of the politicians in office or the ideological majority residing there. Therefore, the constitution of a country may not be the best given the facts. Not to mention that those who know best about our needs are ourselves, who can make our own decisions and not a few who are in constant disagreement to give mediocre results every year.

On the other hand, we have the Judiciary, in charge of all legal matters, of giving fair trials to all citizens. But if our constitution is ambiguous and perhaps very corruptible, this affects the entities in charge of applying these laws. Therefore, we find in our day to day life unrecognized martyrs and “innocent” rogues, and I believe that in the eyes of anyone that is not true justice.... This is one of the reasons why there is so much crime, insecurity and injustice in many countries of the second or third world, where the laws do not apply to a few, who know how to manipulate their environment to their whims.

In short, we find ourselves before the pawns of a never-ending chess game: the Executive Power that is subject to the will of the Legislative Power.
Do you believe that this is a true democracy where the people rule?
In voting seasons, we all focus on who will be the new president and what are his thoughts or political orientation for the future of the country, but very few of us realize that he is the pawn in a very big, vast and tortuous chess game. And it is here where I include myself and affirm that I also had that thought that perhaps a new president could solve the problems that afflict all of us in common. But it is here where we understand that democracy is broken and that, if we want to take the future of our families in our hands, there is only one way out of the system.

I want to be very clear: at no time will I talk about pure and simple anarchy, but rather the goal is to emphasize that, if you seek change in your government, this is the way you can purge all the malice from the system.
While political education and cultural struggle is important, it has to be accompanied by instant solutions but with real long term effects. Each one of us cannot be the next assemblyman or agent of change in the midst of a jungle of interests and corruption; it is a very difficult and lonely thing to achieve, but not impossible for those who venture. That is why I make this call, whether you are right or left, from above or below, to every person who sees that democracy is not being applied in the right way; the only way to change the system is to take away the only sustenance/power: our money.

What makes the State function is money, so if we take that out of the equation, it can no longer expand at the same rate in an inefficient and inconsistent manner, giving opportunity for corruption. With that, we ensure that the state does not penetrate beyond our individual rights. As time goes by, the State will find itself in a situation of financial insolvency, forcing it to shrink and not be able to afford the use of its secondary power, which is violence, the favorite resource of every dictatorial State in times of crisis. And this without taking into account that the currencies of each country, whether the dollar or any of the pesos used, can be methods of creating money out of thin air through inflation.
This is where Bitcoin comes into our lives as a solution to all the problems that may afflict us. It is the only asset on the face of the galaxy that is scarce and unseizable, to which only you as a reader have access. A financial tool that preserves the fruits of your labor and protects you from censorship.

        As Timothy C. May:
“The state will, of course, try to slow or stop the spread of this technology, citing national security concerns, the use of the technology by drug dealers and tax evaders, and fears of social disintegration. Many of these concerns will be valid, but if we look for a second at the other side of the coin, for the past few decades the dollar has dominated the scene, where all of these 'concerns' were the day-to-day business of large financial institutions, either for or against. The technology of the printing press altered and reduced the power of medieval guilds and the social power structure; cryptologic methods will also fundamentally alter the nature of corporations and government interference in economic transactions. Combined with emerging information markets, crypto-anarchy will create a liquid marketplace for any material that can be put into words and images. And just as a seemingly minor invention like barbed wire made possible the fencing off of vast ranches and farms, forever altering concepts of property rights in the frontier west, so too will the seemingly minor discovery of an arcane branch of mathematics become the pliers that dismantle the barbed wire around intellectual property.”

The current state of democracy reveals deep flaws, evidenced by corruption and a disconnect between the interests of the government and the people. If we want to change the course of our societies, we must rethink the system from its foundations. Bitcoin emerges as a key tool in this transformation, providing a financial alternative that cannot be manipulated by elites or confiscated by governments.
However, even if you change currency or country, the consequences of inflation and corruption will catch up with you sooner or later. If you really want to be prepared to protect your future, Bitcoin is the solution. By adopting it, you are taking direct control over your finances and reducing the power of corrupt states that depend on our money to continue operating.
The road will not be easy, but by joining together in this fight for decentralization, we can move closer to true freedom and justice. Change is in our hands, and technology can be the catalyst we need to build a freer future for all.
