1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MANDATORY UPDATE] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain on: August 29, 2014, 01:34:56 PM
I'm sorry if this has been discussed before, but I am getting an error when opening the Syscoin wallet (version 0.1.4). It says: "Corrupted block database detected. Do you want to rebuild the block database now?"  Clicking OK will fix the problem by reindexing the entire blockchain. I tried re-downloading and re-installing the wallet software, it this seems to fix the problem. But, when I copy over my backed-up wallet.dat file from another drive (to recover the few coins I have), the problem re-appears. So this makes me think there's something wrong with my wallet itself.

Has anyone else had this problem? The wallet worked fine yesterday, but not today. I've only been mining for a few hours so I hardly have any coin, so it might be worth it to abandon the old wallet.dat file if that's the problem. Thanks.

We are aware some users are having problems when opening and closing wallets and then opening again. Working on it. Leave your backup wallet in place then resync, and keep it open. If not you will have to do it again next time you open (yes its annoying, but will be fixed).

Thanks

4  Other / Beginners & Help / Nodes? on: August 19, 2014, 10:40:48 PM
Hi all,
I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but since I am a relative beginning (around 2 weeks with coins), here it goes!

I've installed wallets for a few different coins, and sometimes they have trouble syncing at the beginning. I get a message that says "No block source available". So, I google it and invariably I come across a post in this forum telling me to create a config file, [coin name].conf, and add a bunch "addnode==xx.xx.xx" etc.

Ok, I get all that. I've done it a few times now, and now I know what to do. When a new wallet says "no block source available", I know that I'll be searching the internet for this magical list of nodes to put in my newly-written .conf file.

My question is....where do these nodes come from? I.e., how does the person who posted the list get know what nodes to use? Every time I find the answer, its a post from someone saying "Add these nodes!", followed by a list.  But, it would be so much simpler, going forward, if I could just look these up myself somewhere, instead of searching through all the posts.

I realize this may be a dumb question, but it can't hurt to ask! Thanks.

I was able to download the wallet from a link a few posts above. Connected to the network, and just got my first payment from mining!
Still seems a little fishy that the coin's website isn't working. Their twitter account hasn't posted since May. But I believe they will be back soon.

What's the deal with this coin? I'm merge-mining in along with Vert, but I cant even figure out how to download the wallet. Website seems to be broken. Is this coin dead?
