1  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Introducing CherryPicking - new Windows pool hopper on: August 09, 2011, 04:27:36 PM
I'm getting a number of "[Miner0] pool.unitedminers.com:8332 upstream RPC error" I checked the config file and the port is correct so I'm not sure why the errors keep popping up. Also, any progress on resolving the problem with the security certificates? I still have a few pools down because of that issue.

Could you make up a config. for ABCPool.co (2% pps)? Also, I'm still having problems with the security certificate for ARS, Mt.Red, and RFCPool, using both your updated files and manually updating jssecacerts. Otherwise CP works great, if I can keep 24hrs of up time without my internet cutting out I will give a definitive earnings comparison.

I'll throw some m/hashs that way, the app looks good as well.

The general comparison Ive found to be relatively accurate is that KDE has a more windows feel and gnome is more of a mac or natively linux interface style. KDE has a lot of nice eye candy however check out compiz fusion on gnome, it has some amazing affects. For WoW check out https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WorldofWarcraft. It can be problematic at times but if your considering mining your rig should be able to handle the tax. As far as which desktop is better, I personally use gnome right now but I'll switch every few months just for variety.

Introduced to bitcoins several months ago, currently mining on a dual 5870 gaming rig I built for college.

What about having alternate paths: say 4 hours and 250+ words posted, or 10 hours and a single post?  As a long-time lurker who's got some (hopefully!) interesting things to say, the current scheme encourages newbies to come as close to spam as possible to get their 5 posts, instead of encouraging them to post actual content.

Or captcha the first 5 or so posts to prevent bots/discourage spammers?
