The account recovery team can help with this, though it's a shame they usually take quite a long time to fill these requests (after reading your most recent reply I see that you have indeed gotten at least a response from them quickly, so that's a good start).

Update: A week ago, I completed the access verification process via the link and confirmed it by email. However, I have not received a response yet.

I don't think there is much you can do except wait for a few more days and perhaps keep bumping this thread from time to time. Maybe they were expecting that you specifically sign the messages from the first address they suggested?

Thanks for your quick response and the help so far. I'll probably wait out till next weekend. Been a month+ already. In-case, there's no response till then, if I buy a copper membership and list my services again with this account will that be an issue.

Account is still locked. No reply from the support. I have resent the email a few days ago but nothing yet.

However, they might still think the address was recently added to your profile thus there might still be some doubt. So ensure you inform them that the address has been on your account profile for a while (since February last year) according to the archive  - http://web.archive.org/web/20240229082930/https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1073153

Hi, since there's no reply yet. In there another thing to do or just wait?

I think that should be good enough

Thank you so much for this. Still waiting for their reply though. I'll be sure to inform you and everyone once there's an update.

You need to give them a signed message.

You can download this website and use it offline to sign the message: https://bitcoinmessage.tools/ (do not use it online). It is made by a Bitcointalk member. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5440095.0

Next you need to locate the address you used to pay for copper membership. Do you remember this address? if you used a wallet application, you should be able to export the private key, and use the above website to create a signed message.

I just signed a message with this address bc1q3l4xdsquj4vnmlemg85pw7ymujc3yl4f5v7vth on my profile. Hopefully, all goes well.

How about this address you once posted in this forum.

BTC address: 1M4iALHHcX48m2cEwfyBGLJttL8cZD1Ef9

I know I posted this address but I'm trying to find out which of my wallet it's associated with. No luck yet but I think maybe I'll send a small amount of BTC to it first to see. Might be associated with an exchange and I'll get a notification.

As for the Bitcoin address:   bc1q3l4xdsquj4vnmlemg85pw7ymujc3yl4f5v7vth on my profile, it's my Trust Wallet and I've access to this. I have indicated this in the email I sent them back.

Also, I'm discussing with the Bitcointalk account recovery team with my initial account email. But as they mentioned, they are not sure whether they are talking to the real owner of the account. Therefore, need a way to prove ownership.

It is possible that another person attempted to use the secret recovery method on your account which is what caused the lock.
That can't be the case.
If you try to reset your password via the secret question, it will be reported on Security log.

Therefore, since there is no record of password chance via the secret question on BPIP, we can be sure that there has been no attempt for that.

Well, I didn't use the secret recovery method on my account. The email I received goes like this:

Hi,
We noticed a login activity on your account linked with a group that keeps posting malware download links on the forum. You could have been infected yourself if you downloaded something random or from a PM ...

If that is the case your email may also be compromised. Our recommendation would be to stop using it and create a new one, just to be safe.

To prove ownership, are you able to sign a message using the address you paid for the copper membership ? You can use the template below:

-----BEGIN BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----
My account <account> has been hacked/lost. Please reset the email to <email>. The current date is <date>.
-----BEGIN SIGNATURE-----
<insert address here>
<insert signature here>
-----END BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Yes, I received a promising reply yesterday. It seems someone tried to access the account, which they mentioned could be due to malware. However, I'm now having trouble with the next step: signing a message with the wallet I used to pay for my Copper membership to prove ownership.

The issue is that it's been a long time since I made that payment, so I don't remember which specific wallet I used. I believe it was an exchange wallet, which I understand is not ideal for this purpose. I'm hopeful we can find a better way for me to verify my ownership soon.

Thank you for all the helpful responses. I will be sure to update everyone once I regain access to my account.

Could you please specify the exact date you sent out the email to the team?
When you say a couple of weeks, It's now over two weeks, right?

If it has taken too long without the response, I suggest you write to them again or remind them. Unlocking accounts shouldn't be taking so long as it used to be.

I sent the first email on August 9th and second email on August 24th, Maybe I'll wait till next weekend to send another, if there's no response.

Edit: I've just received a response.

Have you tried to access the account using another browser, or possibly another device?
Also, try to access via VPN, just enough to remove the doubt that your IP address is not on the blocklist of the firewall.
The account was Last Active: 24 August 2025, 19:02:12, and as notocactus stated, there is no indication that the account has been banned.

I just did so now. Same issue. Shows: "
An Error Has Occurred!
Sorry Guest, you are banned from using this forum!
For security, your account has been locked. Email locked...@bitcointalk.org"

I think it just shows last active whenever I log into the account. But due to the ban I can't access any of the forum services.

Your account was not accused with plagiarism, AI, or ban evasion with my search via ninjastic.space.

I think about another possible reason, you used the secret question that triggers account lock.

Thank you for your response. I've never used the secret question recovery method. Not that I know off. The account was working well and all of a sudden the locked error started displaying after a couple of days of being non-active on it. Is there any way to try and fix it?

Dear Moderators,

I am writing to appeal the recent ban of my account, Steve5946.

This account has been active since 2017, and throughout that time, I have enjoyed positively contributing to the community and collaborating with countless other users without any previous issues.

A couple of weeks ago, I discovered my account had been locked. I followed the instructions provided to contact the specified email address but have not yet received a response.

I would be very grateful if you could review my account status and provide any insight into the reason for this action. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Steve5946
