1  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Miners for less than €200 on: August 18, 2014, 03:26:22 PM
Hi, Is there any miner comparisons between "small" miners with prices around or less than €200 ?

All I am finding are comparisons between big miners with prices over €1000

Or is cloud mining more worth it ?

THanks
2  Bitcoin / Hardware / Block Erupter USB - Overclocking Help on: December 30, 2013, 11:32:47 AM
Hi, I have just overclocked one of my usb asic miner v3 and when I connect it to the usb, the led does not light up or recognized by the pc. the BE100 chip gets hot

Im using a 16 mhz oszillator and 1.2K on R1

I re soldered the crystal and checked for the direction and it was good. I also re soldered another resistor just to be sure, but its still not working.

I have tested it on a power supply which could go up to 5A, still the same thing.

Someone told me to measure resistance between the VCC and GND and it was 0.5ohms while on a working one it was 7.3ohms

What could the problem be (im thinking its the CP2102- its the one which handles the power, yes ?)

Any help would be much appriciated

just want to check: if the usb is modded to draw more than 500mA will a hub allow that (assuming you have it connected to sufficient power supply)?

I have tested it on a power supply which could go up to 5A, still the same thing. the BE100 chip gets hot and led doesnt blink and  pc wont detect it.

Any help please ??

It does get hot.
Hotter than normal? Could be a short circuit then. Measure the resistance between VCC and GND.

I have tested a good working one and between the VCC and GND there is 7.3ohms and on the non working one it 0.5ohms

Where could the short circuit be ?

between the VCC and GND on those gold contacts under the text "Rev. 3.00" it does read 0.5ohms

What does that mean ?

I have only tested on the motherboard USB, Ill try with a transformer later today

Hi, I only have 1 usb asic miner so im new to mining. Its been mining for almost a week and this morning it started showing this error.

Im using cgminer 3.1.1 so i could you the -s COM# at the end which results in a few more hashes/s and its on Win XP

THis is the code  i use- cgminer-nogpu.exe -o eu-stratum.btcguild.com:3333 -u drinu16_1 -p 123 -S COM3

and this is the error

I had installed this http://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/Pages/USBtoUARTBridgeVCPDrivers.aspx and its has been working with it since

What am i doing wrong ??

Im using BTC Guild and also tried it on another pc and still the same.
1. We do not support old versions of cgminer
2. BTCguild is currently under an attack so it is actually dead intermittently.

Ohh, I will upgrade to the latest cgminer.

How do you know that BTCguild is under attack, and what sort of attack :O

Any backup pools which you recommend ?

Thanks for the fast reply
