1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [BTQ] BitQuark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: September 19, 2014, 08:25:48 PM

I created a usb wallet for my wife and we're planning on selling "services" to each other for bitquark.  Hey, it's a start.

Haha "services" huh...that's pretty kool there lol

While craigslist and backpage may still have an adult "services" ad section, we've decided to leave that category out of the crypto flea market ads you can place.

Although, if hookers started accepting litecoins and bitquark I think you might see the market cap skyrocket!

Looks really great!!! You guys/gals rock!!!
The only correction that I can see that needs to be made is here.

- Block reward will never drop below 0.01 BTQ << Change to 0.1 BTQ

I originally posted 0.01 BTQ, but that was an error/miscalculation. 0.1 BTQ gives 105k BTQ annually.
Thanks again,
BTQ Dev

Updated.  We have a number of bitcoin style stock photos we're working on creating, plus redoing the cartoons.  We've been searching the web to find bitquark resources and information, but aside from what's at bitquark.info not a lot exists yet so we're trying to come up with it from our experience with other coin promotions.  Any written copy or imagery for BitQuark we come up with that you find at the Crypto Flea Market can be freely used to promote bitquark anywhere else.

If there are any pairs of bitquark users who live close together we'd really appreciate more testing of posting ads and using the site to communicate with each other so we can get feedback on the interface.  The goal is not to be a facilitator of btq transactions, but a medium where interested parties can meet and trade goods for bitquark as a currency like craigslist/backpage/online classifieds.

We feel that one of the key things keeping crypto currencies (bitcoins and altcoins) from reaching their full potential is their either too technical (miners mine them and stockpile them but never use them) or they're being used as just a speculative investment like penny stocks (non-miners buy them at low prices on exchanges and sell them at high prices to trade up to bitcoin or cash out).  If you like a coin you have two options, mine for it, or buy it with fiat currencies, but then what?

There are a fair amount of merchants for bitcoin, but virtually nothing for altcoins.  We feel that if you have faith in the coin, use it, use it to buy goods and sell goods for that coin.  That's what we hope to help accomplish.

We're aways from being finished with the site, but it does appear to be functional so use it while it's in live testing mode and keep giving us your feed back and recommendations.

Thanks,

I haven't tried mining on pool.bitquark.info yet, but here you go:

Haha I like that! I just tweeted the image Smiley

Yeah that's a great idea Mr.B! I think the PDF/Guide is totally do able. We just need to layout what all should be included.

Nice photo promotion there!  Change the blue to pink and link up with Susan G. Komen Foundation, I could see BitQuark for Boobies as a great breast cancer/charity promotion!

Anyway, we're working on writing up the additional information pages about BitQuark for the Crypto Flea Market to help give exposure and to help users understand what bitquark is.

http://btq.cryptofleamarket.com/what-is-bitquark/

We would welcome any comments or suggestions in case we're getting any information wrong.

Again, the ad posting functionality seems to be working so the site should be usable, we just need content, information and to finish styling everything before an official launch.  We appreciate all the testers and let us know if anyone finds any bugs.

Is anyone considering contacting charities about accepting bitquark?  Even though this coin has a small market cap at the moment, if the community gives a $100 in bitquark to a campaign, it xould really help generate some views.
I'd be willing to donate, cash, existing btq or hash time.

Been mining a little on an old laptop at pool.bitquak.info and it's going well.  Glad to see an official sponsored MPOS pool.

On the bright side, buy orders have gone from 19 to 31 since last night and since whomever dumped filled a lot of existing buy orders, there's hopefully more coin holders now.

At any rate, this happens and is part of the volatility of the crypto-currency world.

As for Mr. B's question on the formula we're using to determine coin value in relation to dollars:

Simplified Formula:

1 USD / BTQ to BTC price at c-cex / BTC to USD price average

1 / 0.00000031 / 482.91

Since there are no official sources I know of as yet to directly trade bitquark into dollars we're tying it to USD through BTC.

We're taking the BTC to USD value from 4 exchanges and averaging it and averaging the bitquark value from 2 exchanges to get the USD value of bitquark.

Example:

Blockchain.info says BTC is worth - $481.88 USD
CoinDesk says BTC is worth - $483.65 USD
BitStamp says BTC is worth - $480.72 USD
BTER says BTC is worth - $484.98 USD

So the BTC average price is $482.81 USD

The current BTQ price on comkort is .00007 BTC
The current BTQ price on c-cex is .00000031 BTC

So the BTQ average price is 0.000035155

At the current prices listed above, you could buy 1 BTC with 28445 BTQ and since 1 BTC is worth $482.81 that translates to 58.92 BTQ = $1 USD

However, most of the time comkort doesn't factor into the average.  If any exchange hasn't had trade volume of the coin in 24 hours it's not factored in.  So since c-cex is the only part of the BTQ to BTC average accepted:

1 BTC = 3225806 and since 1 BTC is worth $482.91 that translates to 6681.32 BTQ = $1 USD

All the math functions are set for 8 decimal places, and since I think blockchain and coindesk use multiple sources to compile their prices there could be a little bit of an issue there, but that's where we're at for now.

At the moment, BTQ price is tied directly to BTC prices (as is with most coins) so limited trade volume of BTQ combined with the existing volatility of BTC makes the BTQ price extremely volatile.  Hopefully as the coin grows in popularity it can move away from being tied to BTC.

All our coin value coding allots for 10 exchanges to be included in the average.  We're only using the 4 mentioned above for BTC and the 2 mentioned above for BTQ (remember, most of the time comkort isn't included since there's little active trading going on there.)  As we develop further we'd like to publish a wordpress plugin and an api to serve prices, but we're not an official authority for bitquark or any of the other coins, just a fan.

If anyone sees any issues with the way we're calculating USD value or has better suggestions, please let us know.
