1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nxt Coins stolen/ Hacked be warned on: October 06, 2014, 10:12:50 PM
No I mean I followed recommendations about a secure pass phrase.... I thought nxt were ok as they were at every conference I was at I got sucked in. It is the security of the coins ' brain wallet'  that I question.

you went to brainwash centers, even bitcoin conferences warn about the dangers, nxt is a scam coin token, im tired of warning ppl about it.

You are an idiot sir.

Thanks for excellent question and great replies.

I've been asking myself the same questions Smiley
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DO NOT LEAVE YOUR COINS ON THE EXCHANGE. on: September 27, 2014, 09:22:39 PM

What about coins going missing when a coin is updated or forked?
That only happens if you have your coins in your wallet,
whereas at times like that, isn't it safer to have your coins on the exchange?
I think so.

I never thought about the exchange selling coins that are put in their trust..
I guess they aren't really supposed to do that,
but you think they might do that?

What? you're saing it's safer to keep coins on exchange?? you mad bro?
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IBM VP "We are forking Ethereum" on: September 26, 2014, 11:14:01 PM
Forking something that doesn't even exist yet. Good job.

IBM "forked" the PC in 1982-83...
People barely remember what happened before them...
And Google "forked" the search engine in 1998-99.

Only a matter of time before corporations with real resources take over the Crypto Space.

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is going down - What Altcoins to buy? on: September 21, 2014, 01:12:45 PM
I don't care which altcoins you buy, but I want to clarify some statements about Nxt - the network and NXT - the coin.

Sure the distribution of NXT fucked up, too many coins landed in the accounts of too few people. They were lucky! BTW there were only one dev at that time, BCNext, and he got 21 BTC for his work. AFAIK the distribution of the coins was transparent and he didn't hold back any coins for himself. So no rich "devs", only rich investors like you and me! That doesn't make NXT a scam coin!

I see a trend here that people argue that every coin which cannot be mined is a scam coin. Wake up guys! With mineable coins you give your money to big companies like KNC, decentralized home-mining with PCs and GPUs was a good idea but it's a thing of the past! I'd rather invest in a coin which is not mined and has a low energy profile, even if that means that I have to buy it from "stakeholders". They are guys like us so we keep the money "in the family" and don't give it to big hardware vendors (and paying our power bills - ouch!).

If you dare and dig deeper into Nxt, you will learn that "Nxt - the network" is built upon hard development work sponsored by the original stakeholders. Because these guys didn't sit on their coins but put out bounties for development achievements now we have some great features like aliases, asset exchange, encrypted messaging, digital goods store to name just a few. LOL, some of the assets on the Nxt Asset Exchange has even bigger market capitalization than some of the altcoins mentioned here as a recommendation!

Just my two cents.

Could not agree more!

Many blind haters claiming PoS coins to be a scam.

But IMO the PoS coins will be the future.

So buy NXT or QORA.

Also XCR and NODE seem like very nice investmnets.

Its up to you!

And NEM is exciting too. They are making PoI.

Also month by month more non-PoW crowd out PoW when examining the top ten. Right now 50% of the big ten aren't PoW. Each month it seems like another non-PoW makes it to the top ranks. In a year I think besides bitcoin and Litecoin there won't be any more PoW in the top 10.

PoW if you think about it is just stupid because you essentially waste huge quantities of energy just because the algo requires this.

PoS is a next step in the right direction, where you have decentralized P2P network and don't have drawbacks of PoW.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is going down - What Altcoins to buy? on: September 20, 2014, 11:53:17 AM
Ok so we are seeing a big decline in the Bitcoin Price. So I was wondering which Altcoins would you guys buy - the Altcoin price has also been going down.

I am thinking about buying Litecoin, Dogecoin and Darkcoin - maybe Bitcoindark or BisharesX?
What do you guys think?

i really can't figure out why people never talk about NXT instead of shitcoin like doge and litecoin...  Huh

I heard NXT is a scam?!

NXT = Not Mineable = SCAM

If you say NXT is scam then Bitcoin is scam too.

Take time and have a look what NXT has achieved. It is best crypto out there now, far better than BTC in any aspect.

8  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Selling Bitcoin public address and privatekey pairs on: September 13, 2014, 10:05:41 PM
How much to create every possible bitcoin address?
There are exactly 1,461,501,637,330,902,918,203,684,832,716,283,019,655,932,542,976 possible addresses as long as we keep using RIPE-MD160.
It'll never happen, not with all the computers of fifty million earths

That's a pretty long number....

And for clarity it's

one quindecillion,
four hundred sixty-one quattuordecillion,
five hundred one tredecillion,
six hundred thirty-seven duodecillion,
three hundred thirty undecillion,
nine hundred two decillion,
nine hundred eighteen nonillion,
two hundred three octillion,
six hundred eighty-four septillion,
eight hundred thirty-two sextillion,
seven hundred sixteen quintillion,
two hundred eighty-three quadrillion,
nineteen trillion,
six hundred fifty-five billion,
nine hundred thirty-two million,
five hundred forty-two thousand,
nine hundred seventy-six

exactly Smiley

12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you use to keep track of your portfolio? on: September 13, 2014, 06:35:37 PM
Call me old fashioned but I use a spreadsheet, that works great for me
With feeds from bitcoinity.org

Not like I have anything at the moment I could call portfolio but who knows maybe in the future... Wink

What are you using to fetch pirces from internet to the spreadsheet?

Could you copy & paste the macro/code here so interested people (me) could use it?

This is of course if you don't mind!

13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 11, 2014, 09:00:23 PM
Thanks for that buy wall tho, gonna be fun dumping into it. I love seeing stupid whales pur up walls and then lose money once DA price keeps going down cus of xms high as shit emission

If anyone was in the business of selling large amounts, he would have had plenty of opportunities yesterday, today and even as we speak.

I can only conclude that such people do not exist.

Shame. The walls are made by competing MEW members, who want to buy, and no one is selling.

Can I hear the sad sound of an empty XMR wallet willing to buy <0.004?

I think it is conceivable that we see that figure again. But before that happens, I am quite much richer Smiley

Let's not be so serious. MEW is gonna be real fun!!  Cool Grin

Sorry for a noob question... What's MEW ?
14  Other / Meta / Re: Who do I speak to regarding a hacked account? on: September 10, 2014, 01:06:14 PM
My original account "bustaballs" has had the password changed and is no longer associated with my email address. Who do I speak with regarding this matter?

How can this happen?
And more importantigly how can one keep their account safe??

Because people get key-loggers or re-use passwords etc. You can keep your account safe by being safe with it. Don't download anything you don't know is 100% safe and don't re-use passwords. Also, 2-fact auth is coming with the new forum so hopefully that will cut down most hackings.

Thanks, I'm always using different passwords for different sites. Key-loggers are pretty nasty things...
When is the new forum coming?
