1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Announcing ZiftrCOIN Release on: June 22, 2016, 07:03:23 PM
I coudl do with furtehr clarification on this as well, Is ziftcoin still go or are they useless now? I still have a few lying about that id like to do something with, Would be a shame to sell them for pocket change when they could actually have some use.

This is the update loyal ZiftrCOIN holders have been waiting for.

At this point we just need to market the hell out of GoPayWin to get merchants on the network, once that happens the coins can be used at the merchants.

This is how I see the current timeline: More development work, work on more shopping cart plugins, work on making integration easier, then actually marketing the platform to merchants.

I'm guessing the timeline above will involve at least a month more of dev work. Maybe more, maybe less.

I'll keep you guys in the loop though.

Thanks,

For the time being, GoPoints will be exclusively offered in a "closed loop". That is, those GoPoints issued to merchants in the GoPayWin network and won by consumers will be the only points available in the GoPayWin wallet. We anticipate enabling the deposit feature, once our merchants are comfortable with the process and see the benefits of attracting customers that acquired GoPoints outside of the network.

This is a temporary measure that will be lifted as the network grows and starts transacting.

Please expand on what you mean by a "closed loop". Are we talking about the same blockchain or not?
Can I spend the ZRC that I mined (now GoPoints) in any of the enabled merchants or not?  Huh

I'm happy to see some update, but I have serious reservations as to what this "closed loop" signifies, from a practical standpoint, as well as to all of us that have been holding or mining ZRC since launch... Would appreciate a comprehensive clarification.

The GoPoints live on the same blockchain, but we're only allowing spending and receipt of more GoPoints from merchants while using the webwallet on GoPayWin.com

It's a closed loop in the sense that the GoPoints can't leave the web wallet and more ZRC/GoPoints from the mining network/pc wallets can't be added to your wallet yet.

Like the post said, temporary measure, it'll be removed once the network has volume.

Hey folks,

I had a good call yesterday discussing the future of GoPoints.

In summary, not much will change from when you originally purchased ziftrCOIN.

In the merchant dashboard on GoPayWin, the merchants will have the option to select the % amount that they will accept of an order's price redeemable in GoPoints.

The minimum value for the GoPoints they accept will be $1 per however, the merchant can set it higher.

That % of the order acts exactly like a coupon, essentially giving a 5% or higher discount.

The merchants will be competing with each other to drive consumers to spend their money at their stores with competitive discounts using GoPoints exactly like a site-wide coupon!

In addition, we will be loading each GoPayWin consumer wallet with 100 free GoPoints.

Each merchant wallet will be receiving 10,000 GoPoints (or more) to distribute to their customers.

We will begin rebranding ZiftrCOIN to GoPoints sometime next week and begin requesting additional exchanges accept the newly branded coin.

Thanks,

-J

A PoS hybrid to add security (so that not only PoW is moving the network along) would make sense, assuming a relatively low interest rate. I've got no particular preference myself, though I imagine that I'd benefit from PoS as I hold a few ZRCs.

More importantly, would be great to start seeing some details soon on how the transition will happen from Ziftrcoins to GoCoins. If any of the technical parameters will change (such as emission rate for example), an early announcement would be ideal...

I will keep you updated on any technical changes.

One of the main reasons why I'm not quite so sure, admittedly, would be the number of over hyped then failed PoS coins. It could be a good fairly good incentive, but it can't overshadow the main purpose of the coin as a more commercially viable and hopefully more stable currency.

On an unrelated note, any chance of a decent block explorer returning to ziftrcoin? The current 'new' block explorer https://www.reddit.com/r/ziftrCOIN/comments/3056xj/new_ziftrcoin_block_explorer/ hasn't worked for however long and the alternative is of little to no help either.

I'll see if I can get the source of that website and host it somewhere.

Hey folks!

My name is Jon Holmquist. I was recently brought onboard to work for GoCoin.

I have worked across the board with Bitcoin and altcoin companies providing marketing services and community management. I worked with early Bitcoin companies, when Bitcoin was growing. I worked with the early Dogecoin community, when Dogecoin was growing, and I worked with Ripple Labs, when XRP was growing.
For GoCoin, I’ll be focusing a lot of my efforts on revitalizing ZiftrCOIN.

I’ll dive right into the changes that will be happening with ZiftrCOIN. First of all, a brand name change from calling the coins itself, ZiftrCOIN, instead to ‘GoCoin’. It’s shorter, more memorable, and will make the company merger more seamless.

Next, we’ll be integrating GoCoins as an opt-in payment method for all existing GoCoin merchants. Future merchants will also have the option of using GoCoins as a reward option for their customers.
We are also going to be aiming for a much wider merchant base by adding credit card acceptance.

We are currently in what we’re calling ‘Phase 1’ of the merger process. The goals of Phase 1 are to bring credit card acceptance online. We have currently finished more than half of the legwork to make GoCoin compliant for credit card acceptance. Once it is ready to integrate, I will push out another update as we roll it out to a couple test merchants.

Phase 2 will be the full integration of GoCoins across the GoCoin merchant network. During the end of this phase we’ll be using the 300 million pre-mined coins for giveaways and promotions with our merchants. At this point the Redemption Guarantee ($1 or 5%) will be active with participating merchants.

While we’re finishing up integration, I’ll be working to recruit more GoCoin merchants and looking for ways to grow the newly named GoCoin community. If anyone is interested in getting involved please shoot me a PM. I’m also interested in hearing your guys’ ideas on how we can best help this community grow and flourish.

From this point on, expect more frequent (and probably shorter!) updates on what is going on.

Great news that Ziftr will actually be put to use soon.
Is there any estimate on when phase 1 will be complete?
Here is a suggestion: consider a switch to PoW/PoS.
The PoS aspect will be one more reason to accept/use ziftr.
The interest from PoS would create an incentive to also hold ziftr (while strengthening network) and not just acquire ziftr for spending alone.
How are you planning on using the 300 million? Promotions and giveaways is very vague answer.

I'll throw out a ballpark of 2 weeks to finish phase 1.

I don't think we'll be looking into a network change anytime soon, maybe once we've gotten the merchant network using the coin.

I'm still laying out a concrete plan on what types of promotions we want to run. If you have any suggestions feel free to shoot me a PM or discuss it here! The goal will be to tie every 'giveaway' to an actual purchase that will help our participating merchants out as well.

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Ziftr & GoCoin Announce Merger Agreement to Increase Bitcoin Adoption on: June 11, 2015, 08:04:46 PM

Ziftrcoin.com
Twitter: https://twitter.com/ziftrCOIN
Reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/ziftrCOIN/
Announcement Date: June 10th 2015

We are excited to share that Ziftr (ziftrCOIN’s parent company) has officially announced a merger agreement with #3 ranked international blockchain payment platform creator GoCointm. Together, our combined company will offer merchants a richer bitcoin payment and loyalty experience for their customers.

Solving the Big Challenge: Mainstream Consumer Adoption of Bitcoin

The big challenge that many bitcoin-friendly merchants face today is that most mainstream consumers lack adequate incentives to use bitcoin. Up until this point, many companies, including Ziftr, have been seeking to create a viable incentive that will effectively bring blockchain technology into the mainstream for merchants and their consumers. GoCoin has already successfully onboarded 7,500+ merchants (including marquee brands like PayPal, RE/MAX UK, Shopify, CheapAir and LionsGate Films) and has a healthy pipeline of 500+ new signups monthly. By integrating Ziftr’s digital coupon-based loyalty program (ziftrCOIN) and mobile wallet (ziftrWALLET) into GoCoin’s platform, together we can offer merchants a better solution than what’s currently available. We’ll also be integrating Ziftr’s credit card processing capabilities and tokenized security features, establishing our combined platform as a hybrid traditional and bitcoin payments powerhouse with a built-in customer loyalty program.

What’s next?

We are thrilled to announce this huge news, and we hope you’re as excited about it as we are! From the very beginning, Ziftr has been committed to accelerating mainstream adoption of bitcoin, and we’re confident that this merger puts us in the absolute best position to accomplish this goal. We invite you to stay up to date on this and more by subscribing to our /9sbPr] newsletter, following us on /1QP0H6N] Twitter and of course subscribing to our subreddit. Thank you all for your continued support as we work to knock down all the obstacles standing in the way of mainstream bitcoin adoption.

Today, our new multicoin wallet, ziftrWALLET open beta for Android begins. Anyone with an Android device can now download and test the wallet using multiple cryptocurrencies.

Some highlights of our wallet include:

  • Holds Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin, and ziftrCOINs all in one application
  • Securely stores sensitive data locally on your mobile device meaning no sensitive data ever touches the network.
  • Works with the Ziftr server so users do not have to constantly connect to peers or download and parse large blockchain data
  • Conveniently displays coin prices and users total wallet balance across coins.

You can download the wallet here.

Announcement thread can be found here.
9  Bitcoin / Project Development / ZiftrWALLET Launches Open Beta for Android! on: May 20, 2015, 04:35:23 PM

Open Beta Date: May 20th 2015

Hi everyone!

Ziftr is excited to announce that our new ziftrWALLET mobile app is available for Android users today as part of our open beta program! Our mobile development team has been working hard to create a digital currency wallet that isn’t limited to any one coin. In fact as of today our wallet currently holds four kinds of digital currencies including bitcoin, litecoin, dogecoin, and ziftrCOIN.

We really want to create products that have a positive impact for the cryptocurrency communities as well as the everyday shopper. Our new wallet gives both cryptocurrency experts and first time users the ability to transact securely and simply anywhere you go. ziftrWALLET also is a part of an integrated suite of tools we are developing that are designed to complement a simple, seamless shopping experience for every type of user.

Here are a few key areas we're focusing on while developing our wallet:

Security

The dangers of passing and holding sensitive information such as private keys on networks is something we looked to specifically address in our wallet. Our wallet intentionally stores all sensitive information locally on the device and does not pass sensitive information on any network. For example, when sending a transaction the Ziftr API server does all the heavy lifting, then sends the data to the mobile app. The mobile app then locally verifies what the server sent, signs the transaction and then returns it to the server. Data sent over the network is the same data added to the blockchain, so nothing sensitive ever touches the network: no passwords, no private keys, no personal data. When users add a password, it also encrypts their local data so they are protected in the event that their device is compromised.

Convenience/simplicity

We wanted to create a new wallet that is simple to use and convenient to have wherever you are. We found the current method of holding different wallets for every cryptocurrency to be not only time consuming, but inefficient and frustrating. That’s why we created a wallet that allows people to hold multiple coins all in one application. Users will now also be able to see the current market prices for all coins as well as the users total wallet balance across coins directly within the wallet.

Speed

Another issue we looked at was that many wallets require you to constantly connect to peers or download and parse large blockchain data. This can cause delays in the initial setup and startup times for your wallet. We made ziftrWALLET so that our users do not have these requirements and can quickly and easily start and use our wallet at any time.

There are several versions of the ziftrWALLET that we will be released including:

Desktop (Mac/PC) – Coming Soon
Mobile (Android/IOS) – Android in beta/ IOS in development

All versions will provide the same experience for users while taking advantage of specific device capabilities such as for example mobile notifications to alert you of received payments to your wallet.

Feedback

ziftrWALLET mobile is now officially in open beta for Android users and we are looking for feedback! In order to improve the wallet and make it as useful as possible for everyone we encourage everyone to go to ziftrwallet.com to download the app. Tell us what you like, what you don’t like, and anything you would like to see added to the wallet.

We appreciate and actively monitor feedback including:

Feedback or issues left on our google plus beta community https://plus.google.com/communities/111327069596336671663,
Messages on our subreddit at http://www.reddit.com/r/ziftrcoin/
Bug reporting and suggestions can also be made on our help desk at http://help.ziftrwallet.com/support/home

Thank you and we hope you enjoy the ziftrWALLET open beta!

ZiftrCOIN is currently undergoing changes. We will update the body of this main thread with new information soon.

Specifications:

  • Algorithm: Proof of Work with optional Proof of Knowledge
  • Supply: 10 billion
  • Block time: 1 minute
  • Difficulty retargeting: Every block
  • Tie Breaker: Mature coins spent
  • Confirmations: 12
  • Distribution: Modeled after adoption rates of new technologies
  • Ports: 10333 for protocol, 10332 for JSON-RPC
  • Premine:4.5% - https://www.ziftrcoin.com/what-is-ziftrcoin/coin-specifications/

Block Explorer: http://zrcbex.lbtcoin.org/
Credit: xcode

*We are pre-mining 4.5% of the total ziftrCOINs, 66.7% of which we will give away to consumers. In doing this, we hope that more consumers start to become familiar with cryptocurrency.

You will be able to begin CPU mining via the ziftrCOIN-Qt wallet immediately upon release to get a bit of a head start. As for GPU mining, we’re waiting to release our GPU code shortly after the coin release date. Why? A couple reasons:

  • To give people who don't have specialized mining hardware a chance to mine ziftrCOINs before CPU mining is made infeasible by a large presence of GPU miners.
  • To allow the network to grow in hash rate a little more gradually than just having all of the GPUs join at the moment the coin is released.

Be sure to follow ziftrCOIN on Twitter (@ziftrcoin) and our subreddit (/r/ziftrcoin) for all mining announcements.

http://zrcbex.lbtcoin.org/

What sets ziftrCOIN apart from other coins?

$1 Minimum Redemption Value

ziftrCOIN comes with a built-in use case. When spent in Ziftr’s merchant network, each ziftrCOIN will have a minimum redemption value of $1. Think of ziftrCOINs as your very own Ziftr coupons. Below is an example of how this works:

We are in the process of onboarding new merchants into our network.

Incentivized Proof of Knowledge Mining

In our version of Proof of Knowledge, the miner may optionally prove knowledge of transaction data while mining to get a slightly higher reward. More specifically, a block solved with Proof of Knowledge of transaction data is allowed to claim a 5% higher reward than those that are not. The idea here is that we want to incentivize miners to run their own software to decide which transactions will be processed, rather than just working on data given by the pool operator. With this setup, pools can still exist to limit the variance of miners, but are no longer the source for transaction data while mining. In addition, an SPV node may verify the Proof of Knowledge of transaction data with only one more transaction from the block, rather than downloading the full block data.

Mature Coins Spent as a Tiebreaker

In ziftrCOIN, the core client calculates the number of sufficiently old coins spent in each new block received on the peer-to-peer network. When two blocks are solved on the tip of the chain at nearly the same time, the block with more sufficiently old coins spent in it is chosen as the correct block. Chains are still prioritized by most-work first; the counting of old coins spent is only used when two chains have the same work. This tiebreaking strategy makes it unprofitable for a miner to mine PoK blocks while not including transactions because the blocks would have far fewer old coins spent in the block, and they would lose ties. Since the tiebreaking strategy is mathematically expected to take effect in approximately 18% of blocks, a 5% increase in rewards would not be sufficient to make this attack worthwhile.

Dynamic Block Size Limit

The ziftrCOIN block size limit is not set to a fixed constant, as is currently done in Bitcoin. Instead, the chain automatically allows for growth as transaction volume increases. This can be faked by miners, but a clear majority of miners must be artificially increasing block size limits in order for the block size limit to increase unnecessarily. The block size growth is limited to 10% every 3 months, which is roughly equivalent to doubling every 2 years.

Coin Distribution Model

Most coins follow a halving block reward distribution that incentivizes early adopters to participate before the block reward drops. Instead, we decided to try to match the distribution with common adoption curves for new technologies. Ten billion total ziftrCOINs will be created over 30 years, with the coins distributed in each block changing each day following a standard bell curve.

Support for OP_CHECKLOCKTIMEVERIFY

The Bitcoin scripting language currently has no way to make a transaction output that cannot be spent until a later point in time. The ziftrCOIN network supports the use of both OP_CHECKLOCKTIME and OP_CHECKLOCKTIMEVERIFY to allow the creation of outputs that can only be spent after a certain point in the blockchain. This is useful in many scenarios, such as using escrow with a third party who cannot participate in the arbitration process unless there is actually a problem between the two transacting parties. This scripting opcode was also used to lock up the coins that Ziftr received (not including giveaway coins) in the genesis block. The goal here is to prove to the community that we are not going to take the coins we have set aside and dump them on the market, because we literally could not even if we wanted to. The core client, however, does not currently relay transactions that use these types of outputs, but these rules will likely be relaxed soon.

Convenient Transaction Processing Speed

The expected generation rate of ziftrCOIN blocks is 1 block per minute. This block generation time was chosen as a trade-off between convenience and consensus.

We hope you’re as excited as we are about the release of ziftrCOIN! If you have any questions or comments, please reach out to us on Twitter or Reddit or email us directly at info@ziftrCOIN.com.

I have question. Your website shows 1 BTC = 1000 ziftercoins for the current presale bracket. A day or so ago it was 1300 ziftrcoins. There are 9 hrs left in this bracket before it supposed to drop to 1000 according the the timer two days ago. Are you using a floating value based on bitcoin value or did you change it?

Your site actually says "Next price: 1 bitcoin (BTC) = 1,000 ziftrCOINs" and "CURRENT RATE: 1 bitcoin (BTC) = 1,000 ziftrCOINs"  Which is it?

Not FUD here, just was expecting to get 1300 to 1 today. Perhaps I missed something?

Our analysts consider many different factors including the current USD/BTC rate, sales volume, and time remaining in the presale when calculating the next ZRC/BTC price.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: New ZiftrCOIN Presale Launched! on: January 14, 2015, 03:54:13 PM
Thank you for the feedback. We have not to this point provided one public BTC address for the presale because we accepted U.S. dollars for some of our early purchases and have been working to allow the general public to purchase ZRC with U.S. dollars. We've discussed this with our financial and engineering teams and due to the amount of U.S. dollars we've accepted there is no way we can show a single meaningful BTC address that would be representative of current or future funds received.

Hey, thanks for the honest feedback.
Hi All! Wanted to take a moment to let you know that we just launched the ziftrCOIN presale on December 9th. As of 4 PM EST today, we’ve sold over 3.3 million ziftrCOINs for roughly $450,000 or around 1,260 BTC.
This is obviously a skewed figure.
How can you even say that when it just came out. I haven't even heard of this coin until now.

No more pre-sale ico etc scam coins!

Enough already!

Announcing a scam coin is one thing, publicly advertising it on websites just crosses the line. This has gone too far. I hope the upcoming regulation hauls your scheming ass in a nice cold jail cell.

We came here exactly for that reason: to spread the word and to better understand the cryptocurrency community’s initial reactions to ziftrCOIN. While we think the bitcointalk forum is a great community, it hasn’t been our primary channel for our announcements to date, so that may be why you haven’t heard of us until now. We have been promoting ziftrCOIN and the tools and apps that support it at conventions and Bitcoin events like Money2020 in Las Vegas as well as in news articles, interviews, press releases and of course on our own website, Twitter, and other social media channels. And we started building buzz around the Presale in the months leading up to the launch, so that helps explain why we’ve been so successful in the first few weeks.

Here are just a few of the news articles and videos that have covered ziftrCOIN in the weeks leading up to and following the launch of our Presale:

We’ve also been working closely with a team of lawyers to ensure that we aren’t crossing any legal boundaries. We are really committed to doing this the right way. For more technical information about ziftrCOIN, take a look at our white paper: https://d19y4lldx7po3t.cloudfront.net/assets/docs/ziftrcoin-whitepaper-120614.pdf or our FAQs: https://www.ziftrcoin.com/what-is-ziftrcoin/faq/. We think these will help you better understand what we’re doing and why we are definitely not a scam coin.

You claim to have collected 1,260 BTC already during the presale launched on Dec 9. What is the BTC address holding these coins? It's not posted on your site.

I'm not holding my breath.  Roll Eyes

This is a great point that has been brought up to the team and were currently working on fixing that.

We are always looking for new ways to share what we are working on and get some feedback and you will definitely be able to see more about ziftrCOIN on here as we continue to spread the word.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / New ZiftrCOIN Presale Launched! on: December 15, 2014, 05:12:56 PM
Hi All! Wanted to take a moment to let you know that we just launched the ziftrCOIN presale on December 9th. As of 4 PM EST today, we’ve sold over 3.3 million ziftrCOINs for roughly $450,000 or around 1,260 BTC. (https://www.ziftrcoin.com/presale/)

We are really excited about all of the tools and apps we are developing over at ziftr and we hope you’ll come check out our site and learn more about what we’re doing!

Lets get right to it:

Many coins are released before there is a real use case for the coin. We are reversing this model, building in the use case for ziftrCOIN before it is even released. Each ziftrCOIN is essentially like a decentralized, digitally issued coupon redeemable on the ziftr merchant network for a guaranteed minimum of $1! In 2015, we will be giving away 300 million ziftrCOINs (limit of 100 per person) to incentivize people to try using cryptocurrency, in hopes to increase widespread adoption of the technology, both by consumers and by merchants.

By using ziftrCOINs as our way to introduce new people to cryptocurrency, we are hoping to create one seamless experience where people can play around, shop, and sell using all the different types of coins they want to, not just ziftrCOINs. We are building ziftrPAY, which is a set of APIs that allows retailers to accept both cryptocurrency (including bitcoin, litecoin, dogecoin, etc.) and credit cards for the same transaction without the merchant having to view or store the customer’s credit card information.
Since we are all about enabling users to use many coins, we have also developed a multicoin wallet we call ziftrWALLET (surprising I know) that is currently open for beta testing here.

ziftrCOIN itself also introduces some new ideas and technology into existing cryptocurrency. It's all laid out in our white paper if you want the detailed technical information. The short version is that we have some features designed to prevent large mining pools and to keep our coins decentralized. We're also guaranteeing that ziftrCOINs can be redeemed for a minimum of $1 in Ziftr’s retailer network.

Highlights about the Presale

-   The presale began on December 9th and runs until January 23rd or until the coins run out.

-   Price per bitcoin started at 1600 ziftrCOINs and will linearly decline from there, reaching a final price of 533 ziftrCOINs per bitcoin.

-   We have 5 reward levels for presale participants
