This problem has been resolved to some extent. Cointracking.info is now taking INR/BTC price from bitcoinaverage.com. However, bitcoinaverage.com averages prices from BTCxIndia, Coinsecure and Localbitcoins. Zebpay and Unocoin apparently are not factored into the average price, which is unfortunate because most people in my opinion buy BTC from Zebpay and Unocoin.
In any case, it's still better than converting USD/BTC prices to INR/BTC.

Like bitcoinisbest above, I've heard others say Zebpay has zero fee, which is not the case as far as I am concerned. I get charged 0.2% fee on every buy. Not sure why people keep saying zebpay has zero fee.
Hi, The rate you see on buy and sell screen ( and displayed everywhere ) is all inclusive. We do not charge any fees on top of that. Really appreciate your business and feedback. Thanks and Regards Zebpay Support Oh I didn't notice the buy/sell price was inclusive of fee and tax. The invoice lists the fee and tax separately, so I was like, why do people say there is no transaction fee when it clearly states it on the invoice. Anyway, thanks for clearing that up Zebpay support.

How would this have any effect on the bitcoin sale? Nobody will sell their bitcoin for 500 or 1000 notes, right?

Great! I did not know about bitcoinrates.in. I bet he'll be able to help. I've dropped him a message. Let's see what solution he can offer. Thanks for your help

Google just seems to be converting USD/BTC prices to INR/BTC prices. It doesn't reflect the actual price of BTC in India.

Thanks but the chart only goes back to Feb. 2016.

I use the cointracking.info website to track my bitcoin investment. It's a great service but it lacks one very important feature -- it doesn't have the INR currency in their list of fiat currencies. This forces me to convert rupees into dollars to enter my trades.
I recently contacted the website and requested them to add INR to their list of fiat currencies. In their reply they said they haven't added INR because they don't know of a source where they can get the history of BTC/INR prices.
Does anybody know where they can get this information?
Your help will be appreciated.

It just so happens I watched the first episode of it today. It's too early for me to say how the show will turn out, but it looks quite promising. And just like you, other people in the crypto world have recommended it, which is my reason for watching it. Hoping it'll be all it's hyped up to be.

Just wanted to say Zebpay is a great bitcoin app and has progressed really well over the year. I'm glad we, as in Indians, could develop an app like this for bitcoin, otherwise I see very little Indian contribution to the cryptocurrency world. (If there is, I am now aware of it.)

I totally agree with this post. People who know better should come forward and caution novice bitcoin users to potentially scamy deals being promoted on any forum, not just this one or Quora.
But that said, I do notice people in forums, such as this one, who come forward and call bullshit on deals that sound too good to be true. So it's not really that bleak a situation. There are many good Samaritans here keeping things real and honest.

Is that some kind of discount on trading because I don't know what 'Muhurat' trading means?

I loved the hypothetical example someone cites in the article. "Assuming that Rs10 is the additional cost [transaction fee charged by money transfer agent] of every Rs 100 that an NRI sends, now only Rs 98.76 will be received for every Rs 100 sent [after reducing 12.36% service tax on Rs10]," Menon said. What's hilarious about this example is that Mr. Menon has completely ignored the 10 rupees from his calculations. The actual cost of sending Rs. 100 from abroad, according to the example, is Rs.11.34, and not Rs.1.34 as Mr. Menon makes out to be. So the amount received will be Rs. 88.76 and not Rs.98.76.

How is success of Circle bad for bitcoin?
|
|
|
It is interesting to note that smaller cities are taking to bitcoin faster than bigger cities in India. By the way, when is the meetup in Delhi planned?
|
|
|
I see. I misunderstood the question it seems.
Anyway, I don't know how somebody was able to use their Indian credit cards because circle clearly states that non-US credit cards are not accepted.
|
|
|
That's just another reason for Indians to start adopting bitcoin. It's like the Indian government wants to completely cut Indians off from the world economy.

Hi, Has anyone of you used circle.com ? Is it possible to link Indian bank accounts and then buy and sell bitcoins ? Is it legal to use circle.com in India?
I had signed up with circle when they launched recently. Unfortunately, it does not support Indian bank accounts; not even non-US credit cards. And since Indians can't use it, the question of legal or illegal does not even arise.
