1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Proof of market (POM) on: October 02, 2014, 07:51:11 PM
You might get sued. POM is a brand of pomegranate juice  Cheesy

Anyone know what's up with Zerocash? First it was the zerocoin addon, then Matthew Green said it would be it's own currency and in this article, Kyle Torpey said something about it becoming a sidechain. Any reference for that?
3  Economy / Economics / Re: Can bitcoin survive without the Internet? on: October 02, 2014, 06:59:08 PM
Look at what is going on in Hong Kong - people have been using "meshnets" to communicate. Meshnets have been used in past uprisings as well. I expect their use to widen.

Eventually, everyone almost everywhere will be able to access a network without the need for an ISP.
4  Economy / Speculation / Re: A perma-bull's take on this situation on: October 02, 2014, 05:28:01 PM
I think we will see price in the $200s this year but no lower than that. Eventually things will turn around, but as to when, that's anyone's guess.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can the consumer save money? on: October 02, 2014, 03:12:10 PM
I recently purchased a VPN service using Bitcoin and they gave me a very nice discount that would have more than covered any costs associated with procuring the BTC.

Imagine if Amazon starts accepting Bitcoin and offers a mere 10% discount  Smiley
6  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Are you a fan of coinbase? why or why not? on: October 02, 2014, 10:00:34 AM
Not a fan. The impression that I got from friends who have used them is that they are far more concerned with catering to regulators than they are their customers.
7  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Found out why CryptoSea uses Virwox on: October 02, 2014, 12:26:45 AM

I never used Virwox though, I've heard their fees are quite steep. But if you want to go paypal -> bitcoin with a middle link, it might be an option..

Yeah i have used Virwox.com but the fees are enormous for Personal accounts. Probably CryptoSea.com have some business account registered with Virwox so they are avoiding the fees.

For Cryptosea you may take some better price through this link:
http://cryptosea.com/index.php?code=CrypZWT
The price depends from the amount you are exchanging - bigger amount means better price.

And i would not go with Virwox. Virwox is killing with their fees from the beginning.

I looked into Virwox myself as I am familiar with Second Life and Linden dollars but the conversions fees are worse than a payday loan place!
8  Economy / Economics / Re: Buy and Hold Bitcoin untill next halving time on: October 02, 2014, 12:11:50 AM
I am a newcomer to Bitcoin and I am looking to buy some for online gambling purposes. I am thinking of waiting for it to drop below $300 (I keep seeing this $250 figure being thrown around by the tech analysis types). Thoughts? I suppose there is a risk that it never drops that low and I have to buy in at much higher prices than today.
9  Economy / Speculation / Re: Explanation of why Bitcoin price is falling. on: October 02, 2014, 12:05:35 AM
We are going down because someone is trying hard to run miners out of business. This way they can obtain a bigger piece of the total hashrate. The longer they keep the price down the more miners that will turn off their machines and the more coins this entity will get. It's like wal mart coming in with their cheap prices trying to run all the neighborhood stores out of business to obtain the market share. How long they will be able to do this is not known.
I aggree with u

Interesting theory, I haven't heard this one before. Certainly plausible.
10  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin made rich just a few but it ruined many on: October 01, 2014, 11:54:04 PM
I'm a newcomer to Bitcoin, but I got interested in it for online gambling purposes, not as an investment vehicle.

Is it possible that with more and more people getting into Bitcoin and more and more services accepting it, the price will continue to go down as people are now actually using them for things instead of hoarding them?

I mean, say Bitcoin goes back to dollar parity and pretty much the whole world is using it. It would still be considered a gigantic success.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are bitcoiners better people than the current rich? on: September 30, 2014, 08:01:05 PM
I think you would be hard pressed to find anyone who isn't a better person than the current rich.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New logo and visual identity for Bitcoin on: September 30, 2014, 07:30:26 PM
I would advise against a change. It's already established and widely used among shops, exchanges,...
The non-Bitcoin world should not be confused with several logos floating around.
Besides, I think the orange color looks better, more eye catching and is a better representation of themes like "innovation" than this serious blue.

I agree, everyone recognizes the current Bitcoin symbol. To change it would only be confusing.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you ready to "admit" Bitcoin is a Huge Success? on: September 30, 2014, 06:43:03 PM
From my noobie point of view, a coworker has been telling me about Bitcoin for ages now so I finally gave in and sent some money to BTC-e to buy my first Bitcoins. He told me to come here and I will find everything I ever wanted to know about Bitcoin.

I definitely see huge potential for Bitcoin and I am a good example of how word of mouth through friends, family and coworkers will really help Bitcoin spread.

I would have to think it can already be called a success. No telling how much more successful  it may get.
