1  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] NiceHash.com - sell & buy hash rate cloud mining service / multipool on: November 03, 2014, 02:59:37 AM
So you know how you see this message from "CloudFlare" every so often on Nice or WestHash.  I looked them up.  One of their service claims is DDoS protection.  Lol.  I'd love to know if Nice/West is using paying for the DDoS protection from CloudFlare cause if they are refunds are in order...

WHY U NO UPDATE S2
They just don't care. ) Keep it in your minds, you all, if you are planning to buy something from such a company.

You may be right about that.  Let's review.  The S2 was released in Apr of 2014, right?  For a cost of around $4,000.  That's Apr.  Of this same year.  As in 6 months ago.  And now Bitmain seems to have decided it's not worth their time/effort to release updates for a product that's less than 1 year old.  So the simple question is if Bitmain doesn't think their products are worth supporting six months after they were released why should anyone buy their products?  You're taking a serious risk buying anything from Bitmain.  They won't get any more of my money.

Did I miss Bitmain posting the new S2 firmware today?  Is it up yet?

Does Nicehash only use the Free or "Pro" version of CloudFlare?  This would seem to be a fairly bad advertisement for their services as they're supposed to help protect against this sort of thing.  Though their website does say that DDoS protection comes with the Business and Enterprise versions.

re: Issues with S2 firmware, have you considered running Kano's firmware ? I've been running it since shortly after taking delivery and haven't had any issues with my S2's.

What are the problems you are seeing with your S2 ?
Besides the inherent vulnerability that hasn't been fixed?  Well my S2s get the same or LOWER hashrates on Nicehash and Westhash.  That's a problem for me personally.  I'd love to see an S2 firmware load from Bitmain that includes a recent version of cgminer.  But bitmain seems intent on merely pushing new hardware out the door.  And I'd actually consider buying their new hardware IF they actually supported the products they'd already sold.

Kano's firmware might be excellent but the thing is as customers we shouldn't have to run someone else's firmware to have a secure, up to date version of the S2 firmware.  That's like expecting everyone who buys an iPhone to root it and load Android so they can have an up to date OS on their phone.

So Bitmain - please consider honoring your support commitment and release a new version of the S2 firmware before you continue to flood us all with SPAM to buy your latest hardware.

AntMiner S3+ Batch 11 opens sale now, price has dropped to 0.535btc per unit, coupon is being issued Smiley

That's great you have time to post sales ads.  How about you post the S2 firmware update you've been promising?

Seriously - I don't see how anyone would trust you enough to order a new product when you haven't carried through with your support promise on previous products.  Products that are less than a year old.  We're not talking about updates to Windows XP here...

im testing a antminer s2 in your plataform, but i got around 320 gh rejected and i have a difficulty of 2048. How can i make it work betteR?

I'm seeing the exact same thing with my S2.  I have S1s and S3s cranking away at Nicehash with no issues, but my S2s get very high reject rates and huge swings in hashrate.  I'm running the latest firmware and I did try running the stratum-proxy solution Nicehash recommends.  I've played with difficulty and everything else I can think of but can't seem to get stable performance from my S2s at either Nice or Westhash.

try --queue 0 --scan-time 1 --expiry 1

it helps, but my s2 usually has about 100ghash of rejected

Thanks!  That one change has made a bigger difference than anything else I've tried.  I'm getting higher hashrates now but still see around 15% rejects at the top end (175 Ghs) with an average around 100 Ghs rejected.  I'll play with those values and see if it gets any better.
