Hi Folks -- Wences didn't leave Xapo, he is very much our CEO and as involved as ever (I report to him).
We are committed bitcoiners for the long haul -- we won't be going away or pivoting to a "blockchain but not bitcoin" business Smiley
Thanks and best to all,
Ted Rogers

Hi Bithluma -- as several members of the community mentioned, we follow the security best practice of creating a new "receiving" (or "deposit") address for each transaction.  All previous addresses are still linked to your wallet.
In case you have any trouble, I will message you directly with contact information.
Best regards,
Ted from Xapo

I can assure you that a delay in customer support does not indicate anything negative about the trajectory of our business.  Quite the opposite -- it is precisely because we are having success, which we are grateful for, that we have to gaps to fill in customer support.

How soon will you stack up your support staff and how soon will the support requests be dealt with?
If I could give you exact timelines, I would but I can't with certainty and I don't want to mismanage expectations.  It will be a process of improvement.
Thanks

Yes it's a good suggestion -- monitoring this forum and other channels definitely falls under the scope of customer support.
Thank you -- best regards,

Hi Everyone,

This is Ted Rogers, President of Xapo.

First of all, I'm very sorry to those who have had unsatisfactory customer support experiences with us.  While I think our team does a great job, we are growing and need to make sure we have sufficient resources to meet support demands.  We very recently hired additional personnel in customer support and I hope you will see a difference over the coming weeks.

I can assure you that a delay in customer support does not indicate anything negative about the trajectory of our business.  Quite the opposite -- it is precisely because we are having success, which we are grateful for, that we have to gaps to fill in customer support.

A couple of informational items:

-- some debit card users experienced problems last month because the card's payment processor had problems with their platform.  My understanding is that these problems have been fixed.

--  we are subject to various -- and sometimes changing -- compliance and AML mandates, which means that users from certain countries either can't use our service or may have service discontinued.  In NO case does Xapo take ownership of the user's bitcoin.

We sincerely appreciate your patronage of Xapo and value your feedback.  We hope that you will stick with us, as we are looking forward to a great 2016 for bitcoin, Xapo and above all for our users.

Ted

Hi Everyone - my name is Ted Rogers and I am Chief Strategy Officer at Xapo.

I just want to offer a few clarifications on the Xapo debit card.

First, it is a true debit card, not a prepaid card.  You can get prepaid card from other bitcoin companies, as mentioned on this thread but they are pre-load cards -- you need to sell your bitcoin and load the cards before you can spend.

The Xapo card is linked directly to your Xapo wallet and the bitcoin in your wallet are debited automatically when you spend.  I suggest checking to see whether this is the case when considering other cards.

Second, the card is accepted anywhere Visa is accepted and also works at ATMs.  It also works online.  To the extent transactions are declined at ATMs or online: if it happens it tends to be for reasons specific to the account, the ATM or the store.  If it happens and we can help you with it, we will.  Access our support here http://support.xapo.com/

Third, if you have questions about Xapo, our funding, our backers or our team, you can find out more on our site https://xapo.com/about/.

Fourth, regarding fees: Xapo does not charge a monthly maintenance fee to our card holders.  Therefore, when you compare the total fees paid for using the Xapo debit card, we believe we are competitive with other debit cards.  There are certainly others that are cheaper, as well as others that are more expensive.

Finally, since issuing a card involves multiple parties, we don't fully control the timing of card issuance.  We are working very hard every day to get cards to everyone that wants one.

We sincerely appreciate peoples' interest in the debit card and in Xapo!

Thanks very much,
Ted

Do you guys have any plans in the future to release a Bitcoin Credit Card and can you say how soon will the Bitcoin Debit Card be available for US customers?

At this point, we don't have plans to issue a credit card but if there is a lot of demand and it is a good thing for our users maybe that is something for the future.  Regarding the US:  I can't predict the timing but I can say we are extremely focused on getting the partnerships required to make the card available for US customers.
Thanks!

10  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Xapo.com Debit Card Not Working and Support Plain Sucks! on: October 18, 2014, 12:57:29 AM
Zebroid -- I'm sorry that happened.  It may be that Xapo support thought that MyChoice had taken care of the problem but, regardless, you should have gotten a better response.
I couldn't tell from your post exactly what the problem is but please email support@xapo.com and identify yourself as Zebroid and I will make sure you get attentive support.
Thank you and I apologize for the frustrating experience.
Ted
