1  Other / Beginners & Help / Can mining power be compaired to rate of blocks found? on: May 06, 2015, 05:53:11 PM
Hi All,

I'm just curious. Given that the fastest miner is currently contributing 1/5th~ of the total mining power, how come there not averaging 1/5th of the blocks found? I just woundered if it may technically be possible to divert found blocks to ones own wallet directly insted of back to the pool. Assuming you were on the the same block and midstate? Is this something that the pool monitors? I see that you monitor luck, but do you cross check blocks found against miner contribution?

If any of the raw data is avaliable I'd love to see what could be done with it to see if blocks found roughly tally with individual miners total (life time) effort.

Thanks.
James.
2  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S3 Setup [HD] on: November 03, 2014, 10:33:04 PM
Hi Dogie,

I have an S3 setup and running thanks to your guide. I'm not getting the advertised 400+Gh/s tho Huh. I've set up my own pool (mine4.com) and its only showing that it runs arround 200Ghs. This is also confirmed by the control pannel when I hit the IP address. The control pannel shows it runs fast initally, but settles over 5 minutes or so to the 200 approx.

Is there something I need to do to get the bitmain to run faster?
I considered re-flashing the software, but the link you posted in your first post only has S1 and S2 software.
   Any help would be appreciated.

 Thanks in advance.

Hi notlist3d,

Everything that is mined would go to charity, the user chooes which charity by setting the username to that charity. i.e. the shares they generate go towards the charities total.

I do like the idea of choosing international charities. My current approach could get out of hand quite quickly. It would be good to just need to deal with 8 or so. I'm wanting to record the shares generated each calinder month and then sending the donation to there registered office.

Thank you. I have the pool working using eliopool. But I'm the sole miner there at the mo; I'm unsure how it will respond to multiple users.

Hello All,

I'm working on creating my own mining pool. The basic idea is to allow people to mine for charities by setting the username to there prefered charity. Its not aimed at power users, more the hobby/interest level. I've added the ability to add a nickname, town and country by adding them to the charity username seperated by underscores. i.e. <charity-username>_<your-nick-name>_<your-town>_<your-country>. There is also a widget that I'm hoping people may add to their websites (when it looks a bit slicker)

I'm just curious to see what people think. Does it look and feel right?

And keen to know how it responds under a little more load than I'm able to put onto it. So if you'd like to give it a go I'd be greatful. You can replace the charity username with your wallet address if you prefer. I'll share the payment fairly between the charities and user wallets, split by share percentage.

   The site address is mine4.com

Thank you.
James.
