1  Economy / Gambling / Re: PokerReef.eu - fastest growing bitcoin poker site. invitation only. on: November 07, 2014, 02:21:02 PM
What is the point of making it invite only?

We started Reef by inviting a few (pro) online poker players to smooth out any rough edges, and allowed some of them to invite other players and so it went on. Believe it or not, Reef is growing via our invitation only policy.

In the past there have been poker sites which have failed by launching, mainly because they are not able to get much traffic. By invitation only, you will get lesser traffic. The pro poker players enjoy playing at sites which have fishes. And by only inviting the pros, you are missing out on the action for them.
totally agree with that, and most of all, who doesn't like fishes to eat? Roll Eyes

The ‘invitation tree mechanism’ allows us to build up the room in good tempo with players willing to inject money into the game, repeatedly. We can’t predict the future, so who knows… maybe at some point Reef will switch to open registration. Still, PokerReef is not a closed poker club. The fact that we invited pro players to get feedback on our software doesn’t mean we’re focussing on attracting serious (pro) players to play serious poker. We are not. You can request invitation here:http://www.pokerreef.eu/request-invitation

Yes, many have failed (even Full Tilt after so many years). It would do us all good to not look back but keep our eyes on the road. Player bitcoins will be held in various well known wallets and you will be encouraged to take your money with you whenever you are done. We do not need to hold your money for any amount of time.

Also, we do use chips. They are valued as bitcoins!

this doesn't seem legit to me.

No one would be entering this space with good intentions without understanding their biggest competitor. On swc you are playing for bitcoins, they are just represented by chips on the table.

Invite only....thats just weird.  Are you concerned that SWC entire user base is going to flood the server on day 1?

They recommend coinbase, even though they have recently closed the accounts of users using know gambling sites.

but this part makes me more uncomfortable than anything else.....

IF YOU CHOOSE TO SIGN UP AT THIS SITE, MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO NOT REUSE PASSWORDS FROM ANYWHERE ELSE

At least your intentions are clear to us. SWC is SWC. We have no business with them and this thread is not about them either.

What do you offer that other poker sites don't? Invitation only sounds like a bad idea given the volume of play on the largest bitcoin poker sites.

Reef is the only poker site in the industry where you deposit bitcoin and play your bitcoins at the table. No chips.

My main point was that your site does not seem like it is legit.  Any legit site operator would be at least familiar with the biggest competitor. (you play with bitcoin on SWC...you aren't buying anything)

In case my intentions were not clear to all, i think that you are either a scammer or a fool.....I urge players to proceed with caution.

Good for you.

No it isn't. You can play ring games on basically every poker site. The site in my signature allows it, and the site I play on most (sealswithclubs) allows it too. You have not done your research at all.

You must buy chips in order to play at the SwC tables, at PokerReef, you play actual bitcoins at the table, you do not have to buy chips, therefore, no risk of exchange, ever.

You guys might want to add OFC. There aren't lot of sites which offer that form of poker.

Making it invitational only, might not be the best way to attract new players. Is it invitational only, for testing it out? or have you guys launched officially?

Everybody is welcome to request invitation. Reef is live (officially).
