Absolutely no offence guys, but please note what just happened. Hannu has probably thought a lot about this issue, but after all this yelling he doesn't have courage to open his mouth again. You'll never find out whether he really had a point or not.

Please don't make conclusions based on his English skills. Based on his nickname, I would say that English isn't his native language. He might still be a smart guy.

Let's hope Hannu finds a way to express himself.

Anyway, it's good to read different kind of opinions too.

A man tried to start a serious conversation and that's how you treat him. What's wrong with you saddampbuh?
my people eminently more worthy of life than his are getting killed and this third world trash tells me it is their own fault and you ask what is wrong with ME ?

fuck you and your "young wives"

I like your sense of  humor. I may not agree with his view, but I think it could be still discussed. Maybe he has a point. Let him tell.

Hello,

Even terrorism is western contrys own fault. I dont wanna people to die. I just wanna do my work and spend and trade my payroll money on bitcoins. Im looking for work on weekends, im smart guy. I commint that i look younger wife (18-25 yr). Im not racist.

fuck off you dirty wog

A man tried to start a serious conversation and that's how you treat him. What's wrong with you saddampbuh?

I'm in the same boat with Hannu here, except I already have a younger wife (18-25 yr).

Maybe I missed my "scheduled programming" but I blame the media for fanning the flames over this saga. If things turn ugly, THEY, the idiot journalists will also have blood on their hands for causing even more deaths.

. . .
(Red colorization mine.)

What of the profit motive, which drives “the media” to their “fanning the flames?”

In this case a trade motive or survival motive would be more ethical than a profit motive. I just don't see any way in which both sides can make clean profit with mutual gain and no-one getting hurt. It's totally asymmetrical, both in terms of information asymmetry and profit asymmetry.

It's easy for viewers to forget (or never realise) that they're watching a highly editorialised work of art. Hundreds of other news items are censored out because they have less emotional impact, and viewers can never be 100% sure where the funding comes from or how much they personally pay when they go shopping later. Is it just ad breaks, or is there also product placement, bribes, blackmail, or government subsidies involved? Viewers don't even know their individual costs, whereas the media companies do know where their money comes from, and they also front-run and editorialise every piece of news before distributing it out after a delay.
You seem like it is a bad thing that viewers are having their food readily chewed. Funding you described is essential for a media to exist. In western societies I can trust that it is coming from friendly sources and that it is leading to good journalism.

What you said about editorializing is true. I have found a lot of falsificated information but they have all been from tabloids. They are profiting from fanning the flames and some subjects have been actually pretty entertaining.

I have found some highly editorialized information even from national sources, for example about the economical crisis. It is more like overgeneralizing the facts than purposefully offering misleading information. This is mainly a good thing because not everyone has a possibility to process a really complex set of facts.

I have formed my view by comparing various foreign news sources, blog posts and discussion forums. Almost every time my own conclusion have matched the one that I read from national news sources.

One has to have the ability to separate the rightful information from the bold headlines on tabloids and from other not so truthful sources. If someone can not do so I would not blame the medium.

I pay for my national television in form of income taxes and I think it is a really good way to fund truthful journalism. You have probably participated democratic elections in case you do not happen to live in Crimea. Government subsidies are for your own good.

Global medium and Charlie Hebdo has done the only right thing possible in this situation. Journalists shouldn't let the fright win.

So the power company upgraded me to a 50 KVA transformer after the 25 KVA exploded. I am running 200 amps at 120v constant. Anyone know if this is safe on that size transformer? I dont want to blow another one, they will charge me a ton of money.
Because of the sine form of mains power this 120 V is only the RMS voltage. According to Ohm's law current and voltage are proportional. Constant 200 A gives then sqrt(2) at peak resulting 283 A. But voltage isn't always the same. If the highest value is 6 % over the normal then it would result 300 A peak. The needed capacity is then 36 KVA. 50 KVA should be fine.

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty

Bitcoin Difficulty:   40,007,470,271
Estimated Next Difficulty:   40,007,544,696 (+0.00%)
Adjust time:   After 1657 Blocks, About 11.5 days

A new era of stability? Or the start of something new?

Also bitcoin-qt 0.10 might go see its first RC next week.

The network is maturing.
Someone has already noted this chance and soon starts an another mining farm. Home miners are ordering more. I am quite sure we soon see a spike at the hashrate and then a difficulty adjustment will be like 10 %.
9  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: How much does it cost to solve a block of Bitcoin? on: December 05, 2014, 03:22:30 PM
Nice analysis.
HOWEVER you were so very broad in your question to honestly answer this question, you can buy 1 single 1 THSmachine for 500 bucks right now spend the 33 dollars a month to run the machine and "POSSIBLY" solve a block in 8 months so if this were the case you would have 764 dollars invested. and it would depend on the value of bitcoins at the time you solved the block as to how much you would make, if you solved the block and the rates were 370 like now your reward would be 9250 dollars for a profit of 8486 in 8 months. ( this is a very VERY best case scenario with lots of luck and would involve the capitol to pay for the equipment and its electric costs for the 8 months it runs.)
If you started now and expect the diff to rise as earlier then you have 5 % chance to find a block.

When I share something about Bitcoin on Facebook, nobody like that or no comment about that; cause they don't know. But I know in 2 or 3 years people share their ChangeTip links like crazy, talk about discounted prices with Bitcoin, talk about Bitcoin price's dumping/pumping etc. If that days come, Bitcoin price will be more than $10,000 guys, we'll see this I believe!
The fact that you have found this community shows that you probably are smarter than average. Your Facebook friends aren't if they represent a group consisting of average people. If you post something here, even if it isn't about Bitcoin people will understand. For that reason you may have the illusion that your Facebook friends should understand that as well. Even if 50 % of people some day have a Bitcoin wallet that doesn't mean they understand it. They still won't comment when you post about Bitcoin on Facebook.
11  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: How much does it cost to solve a block of Bitcoin? on: December 03, 2014, 03:29:02 PM
Mining has reached equilibrium. If you invest a certain amount of money in mining gear it will produce about the same amount after some period of time depending how cheap electricity you can find. After that, your gear is outdated and it won't produce anything anymore. Only manufacturers can make profit because they have the fastest chips early and they won't sell those cheaper than they are expecting return.

Block reward is currently 25 BTC so it would cost approximately $10000 to have enough mining devices to solve one block before these devices probably won't solve anything anymore.

Bitcoin isn't internet. Internet is something that has no alternative.

Bitcoin share with Internet its decentralized nature.

Moreover, why do you think Internet has no alternative?
Depending on the use you make with Internet, the alternatives could be TVs, Books, Phones, ect.
These can only allow a part of what internet does. TVs, books and phones can't offer a foundation for a usage of digital currency as it is used today. They offer an alternative for a specific usage of internet. With digital currency I mean both fiat and crypto.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We are still the very, very early adopters on: November 30, 2014, 11:07:22 AM
Bitcoin isn't internet. Internet is something that has no alternative. We can currently pay in fiat and I am quite sure that we will be able to do that in 2100. I don't think Bitcoin will ever replace fiat. Governments simply has so much power.

Bitcoin is non-inflatory. That allows it to be used as a storage of value. It will be safe heaven for investors and it's volatility will be used to gain wealth. These reasons could tempt new investors in and that way increase Bitcoins market cap. If we see inflation as a way to move money from poor peoples pocket to rich peoples then the rich are fine with fiat and the rest of the world are fine with it as well.

Neither of these scenarios will lead to higher adoption but higher value only.

Adoption with come with marketing. Marketing is everything specially these days. Make it trendy among young people and bang, bitcoin everywhere.
But I think fiat has better marketing. It has central banks behind and those define what is money and what isn't. They have almost unlimited resources for marketing and majority of people still trust these institutions. Ofcourse what we doing here is also marketing. Time will show how it turns out.

What OP said is very clear and makes me remember and smile  Grin

Of course 5 years after the Internet first appearance, it was nothing important. But think about where we are now.
As well, some people don't know what we really have with bitcoin. We have freedom, decentralization and open-source economy concept. That's very powerful!

Bitcoin is only in the beginning. Just wait for the next growth phase, many will be surprised. Patience is a virtue!!
Yes, patience. If we watch how people are selling on every low. This is the resource so many seem to lack.

16  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitmain technologies Limited customer review thread on: November 27, 2014, 09:37:43 AM
I would like to share my positive experience with Bitmain.

I ordered 2x Antminer C1 with cooling kits excluded. Right after my bitcoin transaction got included to a block I received a confirmation e-mail that stated my order was paid.

The delivery of batch 3 of C1 was started on Nov 17th. I placed my order in the evening of 16th. As there was probably a lot of other orders on the line I felt good when they shipped my order at 19th. At 24th the package arrived my door.

Bitmain used UPS Saver delivery. This is the fastest method that UPS has but I wonder how they can promise 48 h delivery for orders. On my shipment it took up to 48 h for the package to get only from Koeln, Germany to Stockholm-Arlanda, Sweden. Even without the delay between Germany and Sweden it would have taken three days to ship.

The time from payment to package arriving was six days. If the package was delivered in 48 hours instead I would have mined 0.1 BTC more. That's about 3 % of total bitcoins these miners will ever produce. They should give coupons for compensation.

However, right now my miners are happily hashing at 1.01 TH each. I have to say that I still regard Bitmain as the best vendor there is.
17  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Titan Miners / LKETC customer review thread on: November 27, 2014, 09:21:18 AM
Let me tell you my story with LKETC (Nancy):

I ordered one Dragon 1.5T (direct shipping) from LKETC and payed with BTC on 06-th Oct 2014 (price advertised was 2.98 BTC).

My transaction ID 64c71cf2c8113242b07254e02761f51e20c9505121f22ca1e2ea5428ea95d0a4 to their wallet 12ykW2iaXYv4iPt3S3KDxhNgYhrX8sq7j6.
On the next day I noticed that they have changed their website price to 3.53 BTC.
After 5 days of dodging Nancy stopped answering my e-mails in which I was asking her when my order would be confirmed and shipped.
Nancy confirmed my payment on 10-th Oct 2014 but never confirmed my order and again stopped answering my e-mails in which I was asking when they going to send the miner.
I cancelled my order 2 days after that (10 days since I have paid) and I aksed them to return my payment (in BTC). On the next day I received an e-mail from them (after 5 days of silence) and they simply said - OK (That happend on 17-th Oct)
I kept sending e-mails to Nancy asking her to either send my miner or my coins back with no answer at all.
Suddenly on 11 Nov (more than a month since I've ordered) Nancy responded that they will send me the miner if I pay the cost difference of 0.04 BTC (the prise advertised was 3.02 BTC already).
I was happy that I finally received an asnwer and sent 0.04 BTC more to their BTC wallet, confirming my postal address and my cancelled order number.
My transaction ID ed76b3361d3c6f1f6116b08f79e778b29928f0768ba02dd7cca20a6ed636ef84 to their wallet 12ykW2iaXYv4iPt3S3KDxhNgYhrX8sq7j6.
On 13-th Nov Nancy asked me to confirm my order details and my address again which I did immediatelly.
After that Nancy again stopped answering my e-mails. Now their Dragon 1.5T miner price is even less than I paid initially.
Since then I keep sending e-mails asking Nancy to send either the miner or my coins back.

In that line of thoughts I am stating that LKETC (Nancy) STOLE my coins !
So if someone decides to buy directly from LKETC - bare in mind my story and BEWARE !
Your description is very thorough and it's good that you posted screenshots as well.

It's pretty clear that they are stealing. On that time the difficulty is up like 10 % and the miners are worth less every day. It's interesting what is noticed on their website:"We understand that with bitcoin mining Time is Money and every day counts.". Their business model doesn't exactly sound like that.

Not every customer reports these scams. If this company does the same thing to for instance a one hundred customers, they can make a lot of money and it's bad for the whole bitcoin industry. I hope people considering buying mining gear read these reviews before sending their bitcoins.

Plus, they are loud. I have to run my graphics card fans at 80 % speed. If I run them lower they will overheat. The noise is way louder than what my vacuum cleaner makes. For that reason I have a separate room for my miners in my apartment.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is Now A Good Time To Buy GPU? on: November 20, 2014, 04:09:24 AM
Maybe if there will be a boom on coins using a GPU bound algorithm. I think the probability for that is pretty low.

GPUs aren't designed to be running on a 100 % capacity for a long time. A GPU will break pretty fast simply because it isn'n designed to take all that heat. Those algorithms that are the most profitable on GPU are really memory intensive so especially memory heats a too much. If you invest on a GPU it may not last so long that it would ROI.

An asic chip could be desinged for every algorithm so as mining business gets bigger we will also have asics for those memory intensive algorithms that are used to be mined on GPUs today. Also a lot of GPUs are already out there. I have a few and I only can gain a little more than I pay for electricity. My GPUs have already paid themselves back but if I bought one today, it probably won't.

Buying a GPU like any mining hardware today is speculation. One could as well buy coins and profit more.

I have a pretty good experience dealing with Bitmaintech, I have bought S1s and S3s from them and everything so far was exactly as described.
But I can write a pretty interesting stuff about the LKETC if you open a tread for them and let the community know how they witheld my coins for over a month and a half now.
That's really bad. Better stick with Bitmaintech then. I created another thread for Titan Miners / LKETC:
