1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We use Bitcoin to empower anyone anywhere to invest in anything on: May 08, 2015, 12:10:49 PM
I suppose we probably couldn't lend 1 billion CNY, but certainly up to 10 million CNY we can lend.

Offers to borrow money to invest in the stock market can only mean one thing: the stock market has entered the mania phase.

If its customers are dumb enough, Huobi will earn a lot of Bitcoin in the process.

ya.ya.yo!

Unfortunately we don't yet offer the ability to short stocks.

ya.ya.yo!

Probably, yeah.

On a side note:

Deposit bitcoin to platform;
Borrow up to 60% of CNY value of BTC deposits;
Buy and sell shares listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange via Caimao;
Pay back borrowed amount plus interest;
Withdraw initial bitcoin deposit plus profits (or minus losses).

What is the interest rate?
It might have slipped my attention but I don't recall seeing any rates.

It is 1.2%-1.7% per month depending on amount borrowed and VIP level.

Huobi's new service [caimao.com] allows people to mortgage their bitcoin to borrow CNY for buying and selling shares on the Shanghai Stock Exchange (the Shanghai Composite Index is up more than 125% in the past 12 months).

The service is initially available only for Chinese citizens but will soon be open to everyone, making it possible for anyone in the world to invest in Chinese equities, which was not possible before. Our future plans are to develop more pathways for capital to flow through bitcoin from anyone anywhere in the world to any financial market.

5  Economy / Service Announcements / BitYes Now Offers Bitcoin Margin Trading And P2P Lending on: March 19, 2015, 07:58:57 AM
BitYes Margin Trading / P2P Lending

Huobi's USD bitcoin trading platform BitYes has launched two new functions - margin trading and P2P lending. Users now have the ability to trade with up to 3:1 leverage for an interest rate as low as 0.01% per day. Margin trading allows users to borrow BTC or USD in order to maximize profits whether the price of bitcoin is rising or falling. By borrowing USD and buying BTC users can increase their profits when the price rises, and by borrowing BTC and then selling the borrowed BTC users can profit when the price declines. Margin trading can also be used to effectively arbitrage between exchanges. For convenience and better risk management, margin trading is done in a separate account which users can fund seamlessly from their main account.

P2P lending is an advanced feature that has been in high demand and we have now added it to BitYes. Users can submit offers to lend their BTC or USD at whatever interest rate and loan duration they choose; if someone who wants to margin trade finds the offered rate attractive enough, the offer will be accepted and the lender will earn interest. In the beginning P2P lending will only be available to a limited number of users, but when the demand for margin grows it will be opened to everyone. Contact support@bityes.com if you want early access to P2P lending.

BitYes has the lowest fees in the industry - a maker-taker trading fee schedule with 0% maker fees and taker fees as low as 0.08% and 0% fees for all USD deposit methods.

For people who want more than 3x leverage, Huobi's BitVC futures trading platform allows users to trade with 5x, 10x, or even 20x leverage.
6  Economy / Service Announcements / BitVC Futures Will Eliminate Socialized Losses on: March 05, 2015, 01:43:18 AM
On March 7, BitVC will end the policy of socialized system losses and implement a new method of forced liquidation risk management for bitcoin futures - automatic counterparty deleveraging.

In order to offer high-leverage bitcoin futures trading while managing systemic risk, BitVC and the other major bitcoin futures exchanges have followed a policy of proportionally allocating system losses from forced liquidations at contract settlement time. This is commonly referred to as socialized losses. While this policy has succeeded in preventing insolvency (ensuring that cumulative profits equal cumulative losses for each contract) during periods of extreme volatility, as it was designed to do, it has also been unpopular with many users. Now we have designed an alternative which will eliminate the need for socialized losses.

When a trader's dynamic equity falls to the forced liquidation trigger level, the system automatically closes his position. However, during periods of extreme market volatility, there may be insufficient counterparty buy or sell orders in the order book, resulting in a failure to complete the forced liquidation at the target price and a negative account balance. Under the socialized loss system, these negative account balances were covered by deducting the negative balances proportionally from profits at contract settlement time. Under the new system, if a forced liquidation is triggered and there are insufficient counterparty orders to close the position, the system will automatically reduce the leverage of the most highly-leveraged open counterparty positions by the amount necessary to ensure that the liquidation order can be filled at the target price, thus preventing negative balances from occurring and eliminating the need to socialize losses at contract settlement time. This will affect fewer users and they will be notified immediately if automatic deleveraging occurs (allowing the opportunity to compensate for the reduction in position size), rather than have to wait until contract settlement to discover the amount of socialized losses.

Automatic counterparty deleveraging protects BitVC from systemic risk while  eliminating socialized losses for our traders. This solution is not perfect, but we believe it is a significant improvement over any other risk-management strategy for a high-leverage bitcoin futures trading platform.

BitVC Futures has introduced an unprecedented new maker-taker fee schedule. All maker orders (buy orders placed below and sell orders placed above the current market price) will be free. In addition, when a maker order is filled, the maker will receive up to 25% of the taker's trading fee (percentage depends on previous day's trading volume). Maker rebates will be calculated and distributed at 12:00 PM every day. Taker fees will also be discounted by as much as 50% (depending on previous day's trading volume). There has never been such a generous trading fee structure, and there is now no better way to make money than trading bitcoin futures on BitVC.

In addition, the official BitVC Futures App is available for Android and iOS. Now you can trade on the go and never miss an opportunity.

Huobi co-founders CEO Li Lin and CMO Du Jun were recently interviewed by Sina Technology reporter Zhang Nan. Here is an abridged translation:

When asked to explain the falling price of bitcoin, which on January 14 reached a 15-month low of 900 CNY on Huobi, Li cited a few contributing factors. Firstly, the appeal of the rising stock market and the strong U.S. dollar has led bitcoin investors to reallocate their trading capital. Secondly, the long-term downward bitcoin price trend has necessitated bitcoin miners to sell more and more of their bitcoins to pay for their electricity and operational costs, which has created a feedback loop of increasing sell pressure. He also noted that 3700 new bitcoins are produced each day, which requires significant capital inflow to maintain the price level. Finally, Li acknowledged the role of speculation and market psychology.

Du Jun said that the current price volatility is not unusual given that bitcoin is still in its early stage of development and has a relatively low level of liquidity. He then said that those observers and analysts who are narrowly focused on the price of bitcoin are overlooking its fundamental value as a profound technological innovation. Huobi understands this and is implementing a strategy to diversify from a bitcoin exchange to a more comprehensive blockchain technology and financial services company.

To illustrate Huobi's diversification strategy, Li cited Huobi's 2014 acquisition Qukuai blockchain explorer and Kuaiqianbao (Quickwallet) multi-signature bitcoin wallet. Kuaiqianbao founder Zhang Jian became Huobi's VP of Technology and helped to integrate multi-sig technology into Huobi's security system. Security is one of the most critical factors in the long-term success of a bitcoin exchange, because any security failure that results in a loss of bitcoin can cause users to lose all confidence in the exchange.

In 2014 Huobi also founded Digcoin, a bitcoin mining subsidiary which currently contributes about 4% of the total bitcoin network hashing power, and Dangpu, a bitcoin-based P2P finance service.

Li said that trading remains the cornerstone of Huobi's business, and in 2014 Huobi began to build on its strength in the domestic Chinese market and expand internationally. It launched BitVC, a bitcoin futures and margin trading platform, and BitYes, a USD bitcoin exchange. Li noted that international regulatory policies are more lenient and bitcoin acceptance is higher than in China, and thus it essential for Huobi to aggressively pursue market share abroad.

Li stated that the industry is in a period of reshuffling and predicted that some bitcoin exchanges and mining companies will not survive the winter, yet they both remain confident in Huobi's and Bitcoin's future prospects.

- 62% said that they currently have "convenient and affordable" dollar or euro bank transfer capabilities.

On Sunday afternoon, November 22, at its main office in Beijing, Huobi held its second Open Day. About two dozen people attended the event. The visitors toured the office, met Huobi staff, and participated in workshop to learn some basic trading strategies and investment philosophies.

The workshop was led by Cheng Kam Ho, an experienced investment manager, and Wang Huaiqiang, the head of Huobi's futures and margin trading platform, BitVC. One of the key takeaways from the workshop was that traders need to know when to cut their losses, even if they have to conquer difficult emotions. Another valuable lesson that was emphasized is this advantage of having patience and following the trends when trading, and that trading too frequently, trying to profit from every little swing in price, usually results in loss. Actual market scenarios from the past year were used to demonstrate these lessons.

Huobi will hold another Open Day in December. An announcement about the specific date and time will be forthcoming. If you will be in Beijing, welcome to join us.

Why are u posting alone in this thread ? Please allow others to post as well...

Moreover a twitter announcement or a link in your own website would make this thread more authentic.

Everyone is allowed to post comments, questions, and criticisms in this thread. The previous post does link to the announcement on the website, and the OP has the official Huobi Twitter account.

I can create a thread tomorrow claiming to be from Huobi giving their web address & twitter handle. Does it prove anything ? The website & twitter handle must mention this thread for authentication.

I hope this thread can now be considered authenticated.
