1  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Official Xapo Service Discussion on: August 11, 2015, 05:34:36 PM
How do we see the exact value in satoshis?? Things are getting worse. On the main screen under Wallet it says I have 0.03 BTC. But when I hover over the word "Wallet" the popup that appears says I have 0.04 BTC. Why can't they just tell us what we have in a straightforward manner, or at least give us the option to do so? Just tossing out vague and conflicting numbers is ridiculous.

Simply click on your balance.

1 Satoshi   = 0.00000001 ฿
10 Satoshi   = 0.00000010 ฿
100 Satoshi   = 0.00000100 ฿   = 1 Bit / μBTC (you-bit)
1,000 Satoshi   = 0.00001000 ฿
10,000 Satoshi   = 0.00010000 ฿
100,000 Satoshi   = 0.00100000 ฿   = 1 mBTC (em-bit)
1,000,000 Satoshi   = 0.01000000 ฿   = 1 cBTC (bitcent)
10,000,000 Satoshi   = 0.10000000 ฿
100,000,000 Satoshi   = 1.00000000 ฿

That's what I'm doing. It's not doing anything at all in response. I'll try it from home on a couple different browsers tonight to see if that helps.

Hey there, would you mind sending me a PM with the email you use for your Xapo account? I can look at our logs, tell you exactly what your balance is and see if there is an error with your account.
2  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Official Xapo Service Discussion on: August 10, 2015, 06:13:45 PM
Very weird. I did a transaction with the card and the exchange rate dips just at the right moment, making me pay more BTC. I'll be keeping an eye on this occurrence (if it happens again in the future, it's suspicious to say the least).

Other than that I'm happy with the card.

Secret income for xapo?

Waiting on an official response.

Ok i received my card yesterday, did a atm withdrawal today
Price of bitcoins was about 252euro, exact time when i made the withdraw price dropped to 227euro...

Second reported case of the mysterious price dropping once you make a transaction.

Official response? None.

I am answering this from the original thread so it doesn't get lost among the other answers.

Why does my transaction history show a lower bitcoin exchange rate when I make a debit purchase?

Let's say you have a EUR card and travel to the US. You go out and buy a $30 lunch at a $300 btc exchange rate. You do the math in your head and confirm your lunch cost 0.1 btc. You get the push notification of the charge for 0.1btc and are happy. You then check the transaction details and see that in fact the exchange rate was not $300, but $299.  Angry?!

Another example..
Now let's say you went to the ATM and took out $100 at the $300 exchange rate. You do the math in your head and confirm you took out .33btc. You get the push notification of 0.33 btc and are happy. You then check the transaction and see that the exchange rate was lower, say $285.  Angry?!

So, why does this happen?

When you make these purchases the app will show the price paid for the item. However, in some cases there are fees such as foreign exchange rate or those charged at the ATM (by our issuer or the ATM itself) that are currently not getting itemized in the transaction log. In other words, instead of adding the charges as a $ amount on top of the cost of your item it will compensate by showing a lower btc exchange rate.

In the examples above, instead of showing your lunch cost $30 at $299 exhchange rate, the correct way is to display a $31 lunch at $300.
Or in the exampe of the ATM it should show the amount you are withdrawing plus the fees (which will vary depending on how much you take out and the ATM you are using) at a $300 exchange rate.

We are working on itemizing the additional charges so that you can see how much was paid for what. Once this is finalized the exchange rate will be fixed and correct, and you will see any additional charges added on top of the fiat amount charged.

The bad news is that this is still being built.
The good news is that no, we are not cheating you by doing a workaround of the exchange rate.

If you think I can explain further let me know. I am happy to try to answer any questions. If you are concerned about a specific transaction related to your debit card you can reach out to us at debit@xapo.com and we will take care of you.

I apologize for the delay in giving you an answer and want to thank /u/ONLYfree for reaching out. This thread was originally started by a colleague who is no longer at Xapo. With that said I will do my best to be responsive to your questions going forward.

First, our official support emails are:
support@xapo.com - general account issues
developers@xapo.com - technical questions about our developer tools
affiliates@xapo.com - referral and affilaite programs

We may have answered your question before. For the quickest answer you may also want to check our knowledge base: https://support.xapo.com/

I read through some of your recent questions and will try to address them:

Is the Xapo card available? Can I order it?
Yes. You can now request your card directly from your Xapo account.

What are the debit card fees?
They are here: https://support.xapo.com/what-fees-are-associated-with-the-xapo-debit-card

Which countries do you ship the debit card to?
Unfortunately US is still not one of them. If you live outside the US you can also check if your country is listed here https://support.xapo.com/which-countries-can-xapo-ship-the-debit-card-to

Can I buy bitcoins via Xapo? If yes how?
Yes you can. The option on how varies depending on your country. For the US it's wire transfer for the moment. Other countries have other local options such as cash networks and local bank transfers. You can see the options available in your country by clicking on 'BUY' in your Xapo account.

I want to create a faucet or connect my existing faucet to Xapo services. How do I do this?
There are 2 ways and both require some technical background. The first is to use our APIs, and primarily our credit API that let's you pay to a btc address OR email. I think this is why a lot of faucets have used Xapo where many users dont have a wallet and prefer to use email.
The second option is to use a script. We do not have official scripts by Xapo but some of our users and faucet partners have them available for download. I wont single any of them out but you can easily find if you do some basic research.

how do you see your exact balance in your Xapo account??
When you are logged into your Xapo wallet page, hover your mouse over the funds (say 1.3btc) and click on it. It should extend to show the full balance.

I wanted to provide some clarification on the Xapo card for you. Hopefully you are open to update and feel free to let me know if you have questions.

Xapo debit card:
Maximum card balance: There is no maximum. You can spend directly anything you have in your main wallet.
ATM withdrawals: $400 if you dont provide any ID or proof of address. Goes up to $2000/day as soon as you provide this info
POS purchases: Up to $2500 without ID/address. Goes up to unlimited when you provide this info
Monthly fee: Was removed in September last year. We pay this for our users

Note that we are not a preloaded card. Meaning you dont need to spend btc and load fiat onto the card. We withdraw bitcoins and load those funds in fiat onto the card immediately when the card is swiped.

The rest is correct. Let me know if I can clarify anything else  Smiley

It appears that the API is not setup yet? I want to be able to create API keys and i dont see any option which shows me how i could do this. This way, faucetbox is much more clearer about how to set it up. I feel they use a more clearer and easy to understand UI. If i am wrong, can any one guide me as to how i could create my API key and assign it to my faucet. Thanks in advance!

To create API keys, go to developers.xapo.com and sign in (button is on the top right). Login with a Xapo Wallet that you are going to use for the faucet. Once logged in "my apps" you can create the API Credentials.

Faucets generally use the Credit API https://developers.xapo.com/api/credit/

Its pretty straightforward to integrate, check here for the SDKs https://developers.xapo.com/sdk/

Hope this helps!

The benefits of switching to Xapo are the removal of transaction delays and costs.

By using Xapo you will also be able to leverage our high-end security infrastructure, as well as gain access to our multi-sig wallets/vaults. This can be useful if you manage multiple faucets or have more than one person on your team.

The benefits more clearly outlined below:

If I have more than 1 faucet how can i manage with only one xapo account? I tried but cant add my mobile to many accounts. thanks.

We have things that can help you with this:

Multi-wallet: You can create multiple wallets under your main account. In this case you can create a sub-wallet for each of your faucets and easily transfer funds between different wallets immediately since it's off blockchain (say if you need to add funds to a specific faucet wallet).

Multi-user: If you have more than one team member you can create different permission levels so that multiple people are required to approve a transaction. This way your team members or employees can still have access to check funds, transfer funds between wallets or approve transactions but it still requires you, as the admin, to also approve them.
You can see more info on this here: https://blog.xapo.com/making-the-most-of-your-multi-user-wallet/

Hope this helps!

We’re happy to announce a new upgrade to Xapo’s credit API - an API for faucet owners.

How is Xapo different from other faucet scripts?

  • Free for faucet owner and user. No commissions for deposits or withdrawals. All miner fees are reimbursed to the sender so faucets can keep this fee or give a discount to users.
  • Transactions to Xapo addresses will be credited immediately with no wait time, minimum 1 satoshi.
  • Transactions to non-Xapo wallets accumulate to a minimum 55 bits and can be sent as soon as the user hits this threshold.
  • Transactions to non-Xapo addresses are processed in less than 24 hrs, not a few days.

  • Refunds - If a user does not claim the bits you send them, they are returned to your wallet within 10 days. This will help prevent “lost bits” from disappearing into the network.
[/b]

  • Manage multiple faucets from one wallet and give permissions to different colleagues to transfer and/or approve transactions.
  • Dynamic addresses - Sending address changes every transaction so no one can look at your funds in the blockchain.
  • API based instead of script based.

What this means for users:
  • Users can claim with a wallet address or email
  • Funds to a Xapo wallet are immediate
  • Funds to a non-Xapo wallet can accumulate with any service that uses Xapo
  • Multi-sig wallet
  • Convenient access to deep cold storage - Xapo Vault.
  • All free

Next steps?
  • Create a Xapo wallet if you dont already have one Wink
  • Sign in on Xapo’s developer page (sign in button is on the top right)
  • Create API keys for your faucet

Examples of faucets using Xapo:
-Moonbit.co.in
-Freebitco.in
-faucet.bitcoinzebra.com
-bitcoinaliens.com

We'd love to hear your feedback! Please send questions to faucets@xapo.com

woah, how do you claim it? basically if someone sends me some coins and i dont touch them for 10 days, then it will be refunded?
as far as i know, bitcoin is made not to be reversible, this is actually against the principle of bitcoin itself

The refund claims work when you first send bits to a new Xapo user's email. Within that 10 day timeframe they will get emails at the 5 and 7 day mark. If by the 10th day the bits arent claimed they are returned to the sender.

However, if the user already has a Xapo wallet the payments are sent directly and there's no way to reverse.

Are you planning to provide a complete Faucet script?

Yes we are planning on having a faucet script within the next month, month and a half
