1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you used Bitcoin as Real money to buy Real/physical goods? on: September 30, 2015, 07:58:29 PM
I have yet to spend BTC at a 'brick and mortar' store, but I am using it more and more for online payments of various bills.

I like the concept of darkleaks. I am pretty sure I heard about this on a LTB podcast a few weeks ago.

Darkleaks seems to have a huge flaw though, what is keeping a leaker honest, there isnt even a reputation system right? Since it is all anonmymous?

Let's say a leaker has a Kardashian nude pic. Leaker sells this pic to kim or one of her fans. Whyat is keeping the leaker from making a copy and selling the nude pic again a month later?
blockchain is great fro a ton of things, I dont think darkleaks is one of them.

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What cryptocurrency do you have the most faith in the long term? on: January 09, 2015, 01:59:11 AM
From the current list I would say NEM, Bitcoin, and maybe counterparty.

It's hilarious how few votes paycoin has. PayCON should be put on the list, it will get more votes  Grin

Great service  Grin

Is there a way to watch an entire board, so that you get an update every time there is a new thread?
For example, a rss feed that sends you new threads created on the meta board.

For those of you who are having trouble installing the linux wallet, it looks like you need QT installed, follow this guide : http://tutorialforlinux.com/2014/03/28/how-to-install-qt5-sdk-on-linux-mint-16-petra-32-64bit-easy-visual-guide/ (this works on unbuntu also)

When installed if you click on the file with the extension of qt.pro, QT will then fire up and start you through the install process,  a very easy way of installing wallets on linux.

Thank you, I am installing the qt now. Gonna take awhile Grin

I like what this coin is up to. I am trying to get the wallet running but am unable to. Any help would be appreciated

I am using ubuntu 14.04 64-bit. I downloaded the qt and daemon, but couldn't get either of them to work.

This is the error I get when trying to run the vTorrent-client (qt):
Quote
./vTorrent-client: error while loading shared libraries: libQt5Widgets.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

try sudo apt-get install libqt5

Thanks @Joori for giving your time to help with issue.

@SaulGray It is possible that you will get this message after you run the above command depends on your linux distribution and installation.

Code:
E: Unable to locate package libqt5

If so please try install the missing dependencies with:

Code:
apt-get install libqt5widgets5

I have just tested the procedures with newly created VPS running Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit.

Please leave feedback here or PM me if you still have problem.

Thank you all for your support.

Thanks joori and vtorrent, but neither of thos solutions worked for me. After doing:
Code:
apt-get install libqt5widgets5
,
I get: libqt5widgets5 is already the newest version.
When I try
Quote
try sudo apt-get install libqt5
I get a message saying the package can not be found.

I am still get the same error when trying to run the qt wallet.

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: PAYCOIN enters coinmarketcap.com at no.3 spot with 173 Million USD marketcap on: December 30, 2014, 09:11:45 AM
Looks like a scam to me. And 3 people are holding more than 30% of the market. They are looking for quick profit - pump n dump. Beware. Looks like a well organized, well backed up scam. I don't think they bought ~ 32 miilion dollars worth each. They are probably the creators. And I dont think that's OK, taking into an account the fact that they sell it at a price, that they defined. Scammers.

Interesting, was unaware of that. luckily I already made my money back on this coin by selling half the coins I got from renting a miner for a few days when it was PoW. Even if this coin is a huge scam, atleast I won't lose anything.

Max Keiser wouldn't be on here, atleast not under his real name. Why would he want to deal with the constant ridicule or harassment.

Hot green tea ( or other herbal tea ) with honey can be the right choice  Grin

Very true, lemon and hot tea is good as well   Cheesy

Interesting coin guys. Reminds me of faircoin, I really hope this coin has a better fate though.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [PROFITABLE CPU MINING] Mine from home / work! Tutorial on: December 29, 2014, 09:08:29 AM
Vanillacoin deserves a mention when it comes to cpu mining.

vanillacoin.net
Read the whitepaper direct link
Interesting note:
On my dual core chromebook (running kde via crouton), miner uses 50% of cpu power at 210KH/s. on my  i7 it uses 25% 700KH/s, but the KH/s doesn't seem to matter much anyways, as both wallets have received about the same amount of coins. Dev says this is part of the algo, to promote a fair distribution. The dev claims he is mining this coin with only 1 macbook at 330KH/s.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE: I WOULD NOT  BUY THIS COIN. AGAIN, DO NOT BUY THIS COIN!!!!!  Most of the code is still closed source!!
If you have fun mining coins (like me), and like what the dev is cooking, then point a cpu at it.
I am not the dev and sure as hell dont have the skills to code this coin.
The way I see it, this coin is really something cool. Read the whitepaper. Then again, the  devs name is john-connor, and anytime someone throws a terminator reference his way, it goes over his head, he could just be the greatest most dedicated troll i've ever seen.
EDIT: TO CLARIFY TO NOT PUT ACTUAL MONEY INTO THIS COIN, JUST A BIT OF TIME AND CPU POWER IF IT INTERESTS YOU.

14  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How to create a PULL request on: December 29, 2014, 08:06:55 AM
Thanks for this OP, This is something I have been interested in learning, I have been using git for a few months, but only within my own repo, so I have been avoiding learning how to do this.
btw @zulu I love using the -m flag as well,  Cheesy
