1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin: currency or investment? on: September 15, 2015, 08:15:55 AM
This has been argued to death but its both. However, if you have money in the bank and you get interest what does that make your fiat? 1 bitcoin is still 1 btc so it's a currency but one that you can treat as an investment.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ukraine May Soon Legalize Bitcoin on: September 01, 2015, 09:08:46 AM
Has Ukraine declared that Bitcoin is illegal in their country? If it's not illegal, it must be legal already.

Well there are lots of new designer drugs that pop up and just because they aren't ilegal doesn't mean they wont become so. The law just needs time to catch up, but I think them saying that bitcoin is legal goes a long way.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do you think people choose bitcoin as career? on: August 18, 2015, 09:32:59 AM
According to State of Bitcoin Q2 2015 by Coindesk, VC investment remained robust in Bitcoin industry. More and more people keep entering this field and devote themselves to bitcoin or cryptocurrency world. But why do people consider bitcoin or cryptocurrency as career?

Because any great entrepreneur or businessman can see the massive potential for growth in the industry and it's always those with the vision and balls to get in early that reap the rewards. I think in 5 years time those that got into bitcoin now by starting a business will be very rich indeed.

All the 'Scenes We'd Like To See' from Series 6 of Mock the Week. Love Frankie Boyle.
5  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why is there such an insurgence of flat-earthers in 2015? on: July 20, 2015, 05:09:56 PM

Looks pretty round to me.

I think half of these flat earthers are just trolling. Or maybe like Alex Jones and David Icke they don't believe half of the shit they say but can make money off peddling the paranoia and fear to the gullible. I mean, somebody is always buying their books.

7  Economy / Gambling / Re: sites like cloudbet on: June 21, 2015, 06:30:28 PM
anyone knows a site better than cloudbet?

What would you classify as something making it better? Cloudbet is probably the slickest and best bitcoin sports site you're going to get. There's Directbet but it pales comparison.
8  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Saudi court upholds blogger's 10 years and 1,000 lashes on: June 08, 2015, 05:56:26 PM
Islam... what a plague to this planet.  In fact all religions have brought nothing but pain, torture and death.

People are the plague not Islam. Islam is just a convenient scapegoat, but all religions belong in the darkages but some people refuse to move with the times.

How about the international friendly of Ireland vs England for todays game? Would be nice to have some of the women's world cup games though as well. Last nights opener was a pretty good game and very close.
they have recently held a guess score with considerable reward.
they will not take a match like that, they usually take an important match and certainly a great team vs great team Cheesy

It's not always 'great teams' or important matches at all and many people suggest what games they'd like to see.
10  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Cost of Bitcointalk Accounts. on: May 20, 2015, 07:08:25 PM

I think it's the other way round. Most Heroes seem to have very good posts, it's senior and lower that have poor posts. Heroes take a long time to achieve and even at 1 bitcoin you can still easily make your money back after two months maybe less if you're a prolific poster. I think the quality of posts should be taken into consideration when valuing an account, especially when accounts with shitposts may have previous bans or be denied by signature campaigns.

There are a few heroes who post utter drivel. I assume that's because the account has been sold or they blew their chance at being an early adopter and have gone batshit insane.

LOL. I don't doubt some have gone a little nuts. There are a few that seem to troll now and slag off bitcoin so maybe they're butthurt that they missed out or lost money, but I think a lot of hero accounts will be bought/sold ones.
11  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [VOTE] UK General Election 2015 on: May 11, 2015, 01:51:04 PM
I'm really shocked that Cameron won again.
All the studies of public opinion spoke about a very close race in this election but on the end he won great victory.
It seems that these polls are not as reliable as journalists or people thinks.
Any way, now it will be very interesting to see whether Cameron will keep his promise and to hold a referendum about leaving the UK from the EU and see how it will affect the requirements for the independence from Scotland.

Same. Don't get why people would vote for him again after they do such a crappy job but people always seem to get voted for a second term. Probably a fix, though he didn't exactly have any competition to worry about. Cameron seemed far too cocky and arrogant even saying he wouldn't run for a third term as well.

Physical activity has little role in tackling obesity - and instead public health messages should squarely focus on unhealthy eating, doctors say.

I disagree with this. It's both. People need to be educated about their food and diet but also the benefits of excercise. Excercise isn't just to lose weight but is good all around for your physical and mental health.
13  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is Open Bazaar up and running ? on: April 11, 2015, 09:14:27 AM
Is there any eta when this or the other markets will be ready and operational? They can't come soon enough in my opinion.

anyone been using it yet,

No. Amir is still working on it unfortunately

Amir isn't involved. If you look at the commits on github (https://github.com/OpenBazaar/OpenBazaar/graphs/contributors) you can see that genjix (Amir) only contributed at the beginning, after that Brian forked it to OpenBazaar and has been the main developer.

I thought he was? Last I heard from him he was working on it or is he working on another market now?
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tightening Regulations on: March 24, 2015, 04:44:56 PM
Can I sue the Swedish tax authority for abusing my basic human rights Smiley?

Can you sue them for not wanting to pay your taxes? Seeing as it's apparently a Swedish exchange they'll probably be able to get the details of anyone that used it.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could the Federal Reserve Issue Their Own Cryptocurrency? on: March 11, 2015, 12:40:21 PM
Well any individual can create crypto so why not they? Question is whether they want to in the first place. Probably it won't be something decentralized like what bitcoin is so it will be centralized and that there's always a form of control. Again in the end i don't think that they will ever need to do this.

Anyone can create a coin but they can't force people to use it. Just look at all the shit alts that come and go. Without people behind them they're worthless and will die a quick death.

ROFL - FAIL

Haha. Did they really copyrite it?
16  Other / Politics & Society / Re: iSpy - Don't buy Apple products on: March 11, 2015, 11:45:21 AM
Exactly. Nothing is safe from these NSA bastards. What we really need is mass boycot of any and all companies that agree to this and a mass protest of our rights and liberties being eroded because they're chipping away at them bit by bit until there's going to be little left we can do in private without it being recorded and filled away somewhere.

That going to be difficult. As I see a large part of the "masses" would sell even their own mothers to get the latest and greatest Apple, HTC, Samsung, whatever most fashionable gadgets. These lads and lasses are not used to bother about their liberties until the police/secret service turns up on their doorstep for asking questions about some aspects of their conversations/emails.

Exactly. This is sadly just a part of the sheepish masses not really caring but they've better wake up to their rites being eroded because they'll be in for a shock when they realize all their naked selfies and controversial texts and emails are being used against you in whatever way. I think there's only so much people will take before they've had enough but I'm very shocked and dissapointed more people have not been outraged by the current level of snooping on our devices.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Big Is The Impact of Dell To Bitcoin? on: March 02, 2015, 10:23:24 AM
I don't feel it will have any affect on the price but with Dell, many other brands too will start accepting bitcoin which will make it a recognized payment method.

ACtually it does effect the price as they convert it all into fiat, which is basically a dump and causes price to go down.

This is twisted logic and I don't believe it to be correct. So are the miners and everybody else who sell their coins pushing the price down? No. What we need is more merchants so demand outweighs the supply and the price goes up, but saying merchant's who accept bitcoin but use a payment processor is bad is very wrong and counter productive to adoption in my opinion.
18  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do you wish you could buy with btc ? on: February 08, 2015, 01:13:17 PM
My wish for bitcoin is to be able to buy anything I want with it. Unfortunately there's not much I want to buy with  currently but I'm not that fussed as I'll just hold it for a while and hopefully I can buy more with it in the near future.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin’s Value Is Increasing Despite Price Instability on: February 08, 2015, 01:01:07 PM
The price went to $1000 because people started realizing Bitcoin's future value.  When more people use Bitcoin, and when the block reward halves, it will cost more to mine and it will be harder and more expensive to get.  So they started paying the future price.  It will still be worth that in the future, but other people started realizing that it's not quite there yet.

And some people suspect that the price is being held down by exchanges selling more BTC than they have, using a fractional reserve, so that there are more BTC available on market than actually exist.  If the supply is artificially increased that way, it keeps the price down.

Didn't it go to 1k because of fake insider trading on mt.gox? If this was true the price should still be high because bitcoin still has massive future potential value.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The long addresses are really annoying with all the letters and numbers... on: February 02, 2015, 04:14:46 PM
GetGems app, your wallet is an alias to your username, you just type 0.1 btc and click send. Although this is exchanging with your contacts.

Is this the messaging app everyone has been talking about? You can send actual bitcoins with this? I thought it just used its own gems currency?
