1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin cash on: October 12, 2017, 10:29:25 PM
The only reason it attracted any popularity was because the koreans pumped it late august.
I doubt it would ever reach its ATH again.
However apparently its becoming and more and more profitable to mine the coin so there would be some value in BCH

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Is there such thing has a multi-coin hardware wallet? or is Ras. Pi my best bet? on: October 04, 2015, 06:59:35 AM
Hello, Just curious here,

I am looking for a hardware wallet to store coins offline, or safer at least. I was going to get a Ledger, but then I started to think that I would probably be holding more LTC than BTC on any given day, and was wondering if there was such a thing as a Multi-Coin wallet that would allow me to store multiple different coins at the same time.

I have seen some cool Rasberry Pi wallets, one i think is called "Bitsmart wallet", it had 2 Rasberry pis, one was always offline to store the coins and I believe sign the transactions, and then it would transfer it to the online pi and transmit it to the network. I found it very cool and I was wondering if something like that would possibly the best option?

Also, I've heard of the idea of using a rasberry pi, with one of the small 2.8" touchscreen screens for 24 bucks, and get a camera for it, and use the camera to scan codes and that's how you sign transactions without being connected to the internet, is this a possibility? Which would be the cheapest most stable option? I've seen Ledger supposedly supports LTC but then I look around and it seems iffy at best, like It's all up to you to figure it out, and I'm guessing it's one coin or the other (which would be fine, I could buy 2, one for BTC, one for LTC)

Thanks I appreciate your time and help! Let me know what you think is the best option is.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Withdraw stuck on Cryptsy - Support says it never happened - coins not in wallet on: October 02, 2015, 02:45:40 AM

Yes - Its money - they said that the deposit disappeared and they have no record of it...

What would you do? Say of its a 1.96 fuck it?

Get outta here. You aren't here to help.

If I can't get 1.96 out of crypsty how the hell am I going to get the other cash out of it?

I would get your criticism if I had opened up a scam accusation, but what you have just said implies that since it's a small amount of money that just happened to literally disappear during a withdraw and now support says they have no record of it that I should just not give a shit. You sir are the epitome of ignorance.

You wouldn't be concerned Mr. Commy?
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Withdraw stuck on Cryptsy - Support says it never happened - coins not in wallet on: September 30, 2015, 09:48:11 PM
Hello, How are you all?

First off, Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this - Feel free to move it, or tell me where to move it and I will do so. I am unsure where to post when it comes to a Alt Currency Exchange problem to get the attention of people and hopefully Big Vern or someone else that can look into this for me. I figured it was either here or scam accusations, but I don't feel like they are trying to scam me, it must just be a glitch in the system. No hard feelings towards em, just want my withdraw to eventually go through haha. I'm not trying to be overboard I am just curious about if I am ever going to see my coins again or if they've disappeared into the nether haha.

Here's what is going on:

At 2015-09-28 00:48:58, I withdraw 1.6467 Clam from my Cryptsy wallet to my Clam wallet. I have sent to this same address within the last 24 hours so I'm sure it works, and have double checked that It was the correct address in it's entirety. I, also, made sure that it wasn't the Email Confirmation that was messing me up by confirming it twice after 12 hours of waiting. Also, it typically says "Cancel/Resend" if you haven't confirmed by email on the withdraw screen. Here is a copy and paste of the transaction sitting in my Cryptsy balance.

Clams   xWqGX1gVz6UCpktqaMauVr6x6JrRiX4TWA   1.64670000 CLAM   Yes   2015-09-28 00:48:58
Pending

Screenie of transaction - http://postimg.org/image/kj2d86vvv/

After waiting about 10-12 hours, I decided to send in a ticket when someone else in the chat said they have been waiting for a deposit for 3 days. Rather promptly I got a response that said:

"Hello ****,

Thank you for contacting Cryptsy. I am happy to assist.
I checked your account and I am not seeing any pending withdrawal.
To know more on how to to process withdrawal you may click the link below.
http://wiki.cryptsy.com/withdraws

If you have further questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us again.
Thank you for choosing Cryptsy and enjoy trading!

Sincerely,

*****
Cryptsy.com"

So I went ahead and responded by saying that's scary and I went ahead and supplied them with a screenshot showing the withdraw as pending.

They responded back saying that they would go ahead and send my inquiry to level 2 tech support, and that they would be back to me shortly.

I might be a lil early still, as it's only been 24 hours since our last message, but none the less, I am worried I'll never see these Clams again - and It also worries me that it will happen to my other coins I try to withdraw in the future, though this is the first time this has ever happened to me with Cryptsy & I'm hoping it's a problem with Clam specifically.

What should I do next? and has anyone else been experiencing similar difficulties? It hasn't disappeared and is still showing pending.

Thanks for your time, Sorry again, if this is the wrong area, and kindly move me there if possible. Have a nice day guys

6  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is safer? Blockchain.info with 2fa or freshly wiped online comp w/ multibit on: August 29, 2015, 06:49:59 AM
Personally, I'd choose Blockchain.info. It isn't the most secure method, but it's never been hacked before (apart from a key generating bug, which was patched and all BTC was returned). No BTC is stored with them, all encryption is completed in your browser.

Your laptop is probably the safer method, because your OS can get hacked (not blockchain.info).

Interesting haha, ok, wait I am confused though I am sorry,

On the last part " Your laptop is probably the safer method, because your OS can get hacked (not blockchain.info)", are you saying that Blockchain.info is still the safer method there? or are you saying that the Laptop is safer?

Thank you, sorry.
7  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is safer? Blockchain.info with 2fa or freshly wiped online comp w/ multibit on: August 29, 2015, 06:48:10 AM
Ok Nomad, Thanks bro, I appreciate that. I am leaning that direction too. I believe Multibit is probably the safest.

I know how to navigate around a computer fairly easy, I don't typically infect my computers with viruses because I am super picky about the things I click or access. I figured as long as I am super smart about what I do on the computer, even though it will be actively connected to the internet, I should be ok right?

I am downloading Multibit now andsetting up a Password protection.

Thank you sir for your help.
8  Other / Beginners & Help / What is safer? Blockchain.info with 2fa or freshly wiped online comp w/ multibit on: August 29, 2015, 06:38:13 AM
OK - Sorry to start a second thread, but I feel like I won't get the answer I'm looking for in the last.

Right now I have 2 bitcoin. I have 2 options for tonight, I would prefer not to Invest anymore money into an offline computer or a trezor, as its only 2 btc. There has to be a esay and secure way to store the damn things lol.

What is better? Blockchain.info with Really long random password + 2fa

-OR-

A Asus A7 laptop that was wiped just 5 minutes ago and is currently running Linux Mint. This computer will be connected to the internet, but will only be accessing one single site per day, which is a trusted site. All other internet browsing and downloads, youtubing, or anything else will be done on my windows laptop. I'm considering running Multibit or Armory with Password protection + paper back ups.

ok - Ignoring 3rd party risk with Blockchain.info - Which is safest from being hacked between the 2?

and again, sorry for starting another thread, I was just getting way too many conflicting opinions and I'm almost more confused than I was to begin with haha.

Eventually, I will buy a Trezor or the other one for $35, but atm I just don't have enough coins to justify purchasing a Rasberry Pi or Trezor to hold a few Bitcoin.

If I never access anything but am just connected to the internet, and only visit one website, never downloaded anything, and never used the computer for anything other than bitcoin transactions, would I hypothetically be safe to store bitcoins on that wallet for longer than a year? Or am I better off with Blockchain.info for this?

I'd hate to store it with them, and then they go out of business haha, but I've always used Blockchain in the past and have nothing but good things to say.

What bitcoin wallet has 2 factor Auth?
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best way to safely store btc and be able to send/receive small amounts at a time on: August 29, 2015, 05:01:29 AM
Ooo that is very smart, I might go with a Rasberry Pi.

I hope multibit will work, I am probably going with that since it was recommended, I'll dl it on my linux comp and use it there since that is my safest computer.

Stupid question but is there such thing as a bitcoin wallet that has 2fa integrated with it? I'm not sure how it'd work since the wallet is stored locally but I always feel safest when I use 2fa.

I'm honestly so confused and rather scared to move my coins out of Local Bitcoins at the moment.
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best way to safely store btc and be able to send/receive small amounts at a time on: August 29, 2015, 04:16:19 AM
I think you should be looking towards a downloadable wallet with a locking/encryption mechanism. Most wallets do have something of this fashion. This way, your wallet is password protected so even someone with physical access to your machine doesn't have direct access to your funds without you having entered the password. Having your wallet at a secure machine is also vital however. In general though, you wouldn't want to store large amounts of BTC to the same machine that you use to casually browse the net, download files, install third party programs etc.

I think multibit is a great option for such a thing.

Ok, Thanks man, I truly appreciate the response. I only use my Linux computer for really playing Runescape (lol), never download anything on there, Don't even have messengers or anything on there, since it's all on my windows computer. The computer is basically clean, I was even thinking about wiping it again with Linux mint, since there's literally nothing on there of value. Would you recommend I use this computer with multibit?

Or can I use a USB stick with multibit?

Thank you for your responses, I appreciate it alot.

Also - Just to save time since I will be asking later - How do I make sure I can retreive my bitcoin in the case of a hard drive failure? Is there were a paper wallet back up comes into play? Is that possible with Multibit?

The linux computer isn't exactly stable, but it runs well enough that I don't have many problems with it. I definitely don't trust it enough to store everything on it without a backup.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best way to safely store btc and be able to send/receive small amounts at a time on: August 29, 2015, 04:12:33 AM
Hi, Sorry Possum I should of been clearer. I'm slightly tired this evening.

I want to play with altcoins, but I don't want to store all my funds on an exchange. So I would like to be able to keep the majority of my bitcoin in my possession so I can be sure they are relatively safe, but also be able to send out of that wallet without compromising the funds stored in it.

with the altcoins, I probably would probably temporarily store them on the exchanges. since it'd be a tiny amount of my holdings.

I was thinking along the lines of:
1. I see a trade line up
2. I transfer 2-4% of my bitcoin holdings to cryptsy and buy the altcoins and store them on crytptsy
3. Once the trade is complete and I decide to trade back to bitcoin, I would then move the BTC from the trade back to the main storage wallet.

I just want to see what the safest way to store a few bitcoin locally instead of with a 3rd party, yet still be able to transfer to and from the wallet at ease. I hope that makes sense. Feel free to ask if it doesn't and I'll try to clarify. I will only be transferring BTC to and from exchanges, possibly LTC too down the line, but for now, just BTC.
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Best way to safely store btc and be able to send/receive small amounts at a time on: August 29, 2015, 03:29:22 AM
Sorry guys! Stupid question, please help if you feel inclined Tongue I hope this is in the right place!

Here is what I want to do:

I would like to have one main wallet - Possibly a paper or USB wallet (I wish I had a computer that I could wipe and install linux on and never connect it online, but the amount of money involved doesn't require this drastic of measures yet)

I am looking to trade small amounts of different altcoins on different exchanges. I don't like putting all my funds on a single exchange, so the idea would be to just send the amount needed for the trade from my main wallet to the exchange in order to set up the trade, and then once the trade is completed, send the BTC back to the main wallet.

I have USB sticks, I've never used Armory before but I am leaning towards that. What is your recommendations for a situation like this?

USB wallet? 2 wallets, one hot and one on USB or Paper (and how do you not compromise the USB wallet by accessing it)

What would be the best way to store my bitcoins in person, so I have complete control, yet I still have ease of access without screwing up my security.

I have 2 laptops, I recently wiped one laptop from windows to Linux mint. It is online though, but I was only going to use this computer for BTC, is that wise or should I be using my brand new windows 8 lappy? I hear everyone talking trash about Windows is why I ask.

Thank you very much for your time
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin price would go up a ton on a day like today if XT didn't exist on: August 22, 2015, 10:44:00 AM
Seriously take a hike XT, I'm thinking the only people who could possibly support it are teenagers living in their parents house that have no bitcoin.

[img]-snip-[img]

I have more bitcoins than you can probably never afford. Is this thread is supposed to have any substance at all?

We'll it does show that OP has a toaster for a TV and shouldn't be worry about purchasing bitcoin from his mom's basement.
15  Economy / Economics / Re: USA Stock Market looking to move down - BTC XT Questions - on: August 22, 2015, 04:41:53 AM
So how big of a deal is Bitcoin XT? I read threads, some say "Bitcoin will never fork unless it's needed, the only time it will actually create a block over the size of 1mb is if there is 75% concensus plus a giant strand of transactions that exceeds the 1mb block size", and that sounded pretty damn sensible -

BUT THEN, I see a bunch of FUDing/Fear Mongering/Fox Newsing/Mike Hearnsing/Fake Satoshi Nakamotoing/Bitcoin XT'ing/NotBitcoin XT'ing/Premature Forkings/Premature Fuckings/alot of HODL & MOON talk/ and the occasional scam accusation/link leading to a virus.

So please - Tell me:

Bitcoin XT - What is the Best Case Scenario & Worst Case Scenario - Is there any chance it could ruin bitcoin, and @ what percentage do you place the possibility it turns out ugly?

NotBitcoin XT - Is this the only reason Bitcoin XT nodes are rising? What are the chances of a premature fork, and what are the chances of it completely ruining trust in the bitcoin infrastructure? Is this something to even worry about/put on the radar? Seems pretty scary to me, man.

I am more economically minded and have no clue what half of what going on actually means for the bitcoin ecosystem, so if someone could explain, that would be fantastic, as I think alot of us Noobies would be very appreciative of a more direct answer to the current situation.

Thank you, hope you enjoyed my ramblings.

16  Economy / Economics / Re: USA Stock Market looking to move down - BTC XT Questions - on: August 22, 2015, 04:01:47 AM
I completely agree with that, I think it's really stupid of the Central bank to even go there. I believe the current situation is something to be wary of, as the catalysts are much bigger this time. This is global, I feel like this has been brewing since pre-2000 and 2008 was just a taste.

QE should of ended years ago, nothing about the current economy is real, I feel it's a shell of it's former self, only supported by money that shouldn't be there. In a very simplified form: Debt was exchanged for Liquidity, and Liquidity exchanged for Stock shares. This has done nothing but create a Central Bank induced asset bubble.

Now we are in a situation where people fear rate hikes instead of look forward to them, and where companies would rather buy-back their own stock than invest on infrastructure. There is minimal ACTUAL economic growth happening.

Of course their earnings to share ratio will look better if they remove shares from the open market, How is this not a form of rigging within it's own?

17  Economy / Economics / USA Stock Market looking to move down - BTC XT Questions - on: August 22, 2015, 12:30:30 AM
The market is looking bad, boys. It's something that's been on my radar for many months, and after the last correction in Dec '14, the market has done basically nothing, If you look at the graph, 5 year or Max of the DJIA, you can see that for the most part of this year, the movement has been sideways and is now spilling over.

It hasn't looked this bad since 2011 - and if it moves more than 2100 points, it will officially be worse, and will be the biggest correction to date since 2008 crash.

The price point I'm watching is 16300 on the DJIA - surpassing that point both surpasses the previous 2011 decline of around 2080 points, and it also surpasses the last point of support from the Dec '14 correction @ 16380. The next point of support is 15k, and then onward, I don't see why 15k would hold, if 16.3 doesn't, but hell, weirder things have happened.

I feel like this would be a great time to have Bitcoin but nothing about Bitcoin looks good atm with BitcoinXT/NotBitcoinXT and the prospects of a fork, premature or otherwise. I've noticed that GHS has been dropping and the difficulty hasn't adjusted, the only thing I can think of is that people are fearful for the future of mining, mining contracts, and bitcoin's current price.

If the market were to crash, and shit hit the fan, would all this "bad news" floating around about a bitcoin fork prevent people from buying into BTC for protection?

China is not looking good, Russel Index isn't looking good, Our market's aren't looking good, there is basically no denying that many of the countries in the world are currently involved in purposefully manipulating the price of their currency, either to make their exports more competitive, or just to prove that they can (referring to the fed rate hike that's supposedly in the books for this September, though I'll believe it when I see it lolol).

I think the scariest part of all is that we have much further to fall, with much less central bank support, what are they going to do? QE 4? QE 5? How long till our dollar is worthless ? lol how long till this doesn't work anymore, it barely works now lol.

I am taking the chance and buying bitcoin anyways - So don't fuck it up HEARN/ANDRESEN.

EDIT: Added info on DJIA. I also feel I should mention that BTC is not the only thing I am buying to protect myself and/or profit. I'm short S&P futures, I own precious metal, and I'd love to have some BTC.

Tim Draper

(lol this is the speculation section correct?) Roll Eyes

May I ask who Tim Draper is? Reminds me of Don Draper from Mad Men.

He's the gentleman that bought like 30k+ coins from the US Marshall auctions. It was more a joke since we all know he bought in at obscene prices.
