ok will try 10-20 increments with and also with the -i setting - and see how we go. Actually never thought this - will try say 10MHz+ on mem and gpu - if that crashes then we should know even the smallest OC on a stock cards kills it? Never thought of doing that first!

I also heard some stock cards (mines the Geforce) - stops any overclocking so you need to hack the gpu bios first.

Someone else here was talking about games using P1 or P2 setting but the miner only accessing P0 so you need to up this rather than how you would OC a card for gaming. I need to research more on this as I'm noob on maxwell GPU's to be fair!

Wich algorithm are you mining?  76020 KH/s is high. What is the temps on the card? (use gpuz)

Haha that's not the real hash (I wish!!) - it seems the last figure it spits out is an error - it hashes OC around 10MHz+ - but then falls over. I can see quite a few people here are getting the same error. Temps fine just before it crashes - it's a hefty system custom built nothing goes over 71C during gaming or normal mining - and it's currently 35C in Aus and humid so temps not the issue.

it maybe your clocks ... lower them a little at a time and see if that helps ...

im in adelaide and it gets very hot here most days ( apart from the last few ) and i had major issues recently with the other cards i had ( amd cards ) with overclocking and crashing ...

lowered the clocks and they all worked like a charm - and have since replaced everything with 750ti oc - stock clocks ...

they run much more smooth than the amd's ...

btw - thats with most algo's ... some cards just refuse to start if the clocking is too high ...

Still getting errors with OC settings:

[2015-01-14 20:32:19] GPU #0: result for 016e7268 does not validate on CPU!
[2015-01-14 20:32:19] GPU #0: result for 016e7268 does not validate on CPU!
[2015-01-14 20:32:19] GPU #0: GeForce GTX 980, 76020 kH/s
Cuda error in func 'quark_blake512_cpu_setBlock_80' at line 482 : the launch tim
ed out and was terminated.
Press any key to continue . . .

Tried changing the -i settings as suggested - to no avail and tried various gpu and mem OC settings but just crashes the kernal and the command window. Hashes to 10+kh/s for maybe 3-4 times then crashes.

Hope we can work out good overclcok and .bat settings for the GTX980 that doesn't crash it?

I've test various variations in Precisionx but can't get it to work unless at default settings. Grrr

Will keep trying...anyone else with a GTX 980 had any luck with their settings?

Seems like you have clocked the card to high. Reduce the gpuclock and increase the memory clock. Did the driver crash as well? then you might need to reboot the machine.

You might also want to experiment with the Intensity parameter.  start with -i 18 and then continue to find the best setting for your card

-i 20.5 might work good for your overvolted card.

Hi - I was watching a gamer guy on youtube - he got the same card upto gpu +250Mhz, +200 Mem Clock, 115% volts and it ran fine. It didn't crash the driver just the ccminer.exe - i've a feeling its a .bat setting - will mess around with them and try the -i setting first. Thanks

Hi

On my stock Geforce GTX 980 - in PrecisionX I OC's 110% power,  +150MHz GPU, Mem +116MHZ, + 6mV - I then get 10MH+ for a few seconds - then it falls over with this error:

[2015-01-12 23:21:03] GPU #0: result for 01f4ebc0 does not validate on CPU!
[2015-01-12 23:21:03] GPU #0: GeForce GTX 980, 158879 kH/s
Cuda error in func 'quark_blake512_cpu_setBlock_80' at line 482 : the launch tim
ed out and was terminated.

Not sure what this means - i was getting temps around 65% and 10MH+ so keen to see why this is occuring? I'm using SP release 29.
