Nice setup OP. Did you see eutelsat-113 (over South America) went kaput. Satellite is dead.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Personal Computer Mined How Many Bitcoin Per Day In 2009? 100? 250? 1700? on: April 14, 2024, 04:57:08 AM
I dunno. I guess 144 blocks / a small integer number of people.

But I can say that in July 2012, my year old Mac laptop did 4 blocks in 12 hrs before difficulty adjusted.
3  Other / Meta / Re: Mixers to be banned on: December 05, 2023, 03:17:30 AM
Strategic mistake. But we are not law enforcement to say having them here could be better to keep an eye on them all in one place instead of having them go elsewhere scattered.

I’m neutral on this. Tough call, to be sure, but some of us gave theymos like $20 a long time ago and expected him to run the forums in perpetuity. And he has indeed kept the lights on around here.

The best argument for banning mixers though is because if the government can stop a mixer, then you have risk if you promote/permit them.

Let this be an impetus for creating decentralized privacy solutions that can not be stopped.
4  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin - The road to a SIX DIGIT price valuation on: July 18, 2023, 05:29:23 PM
Agreed. It seems every halving brings with it a new avenue for money to flow into bitcoin. Fiat leaking into bitcoin requires cracks in the dam and those cracks require preparation…fiat producers love themselves capital controls.

I know franky1 doesn't believe it, we have debated about it before. Although he made a good point, he didn't consider the Cabal's long term, and possibly unlimited, printing of fiat.

 Cool

On the road to $500,000.

You know how they just “raised the debt ceiling?” This isn’t true. They didn’t raise the ceiling, they eliminated it until a future date. Do you remember the last time they did that? It was august 2019. September 2019 was the repo crisis, where overnight loans on treasuries hit an annualized interest rate of 10%! And conveniently we had a reason to make money printer go BRRR in 2020.

I don’t in general like conspiracies, but with no limit on US debt, we have effectively put a blank check out there for anyone to cash if they can create the economic conditions necessary to justify massive money printing. We are incentivizing our own destruction. I wouldn’t be surprised if we have some major happen in 2024…a new pandemic with lockdowns, WW3 starting in earnest, aliens turn out to be here and not-so-friendly, etc…
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Webcash: A new Proof-of-Work digital currency based on e-cash on: August 13, 2022, 01:24:20 AM
1) Why? What's the core value?

2) Could there be an atomic swap involving Webcash? Since the settlement happens based on the centralized server, it seems close to impossible to me.

1) it isn’t decentralized but pretending to be decentralized (see Ethereum)…because Webcash is centralized, scalability is far easier…all the other shitcoins pretend to be decentralized and offer “features” that are fundamentally incompatible with decentralization. But if those shitcoins would just give up the pretense of decentralization, they could scale far better.

2) not “on chain,” so to speak. I’d think of it more like trying to atomically swap (knowledge of) telephone numbers…I’m sure there is some way to do it, but you’d need to roll your own solution for it.

There are a number of details that are unclear to me regarding auditability/verifiability…but kanzure ain’t dumb…so I presume there is some preservation of key features of bitcoin…

But having been fairly near to the beginning of bitcoin and not coming out unbelievably wealthy, I’ve learned to act before fully grokking details. That said, this feels an awful lot like early bitcoin to me.

Will this compete with Bitcoin? No, of course not—it isn’t decentralized. But then again, neither is Ethereum. While I personally feel Ethereum is of no value, sacrificing both decentralization & auditability, my feelings are clearly contradicted by the non-zero market cap of Ethereum. Webcash is the logical optimization of a shitcoin trying to solve the money problem (to the extent I understand webcash).

is everything going to Python based? What about a Windows Miner?

There is an executable for Mac…I don’t know if there is one for windows
7  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Blockstream Satellite 2.0 on: November 20, 2020, 04:24:05 AM
Are you still associated with Blockstream?
Nope, just an enthusiastic user of their satellite stream.

I’m a dual satellite user. It’s a little bit like magic still to me. But now my coldcard’s sdcard never touches a computer on the internet. I still check my satellite node against a conventional internet connected node (hey, you never know), but I feel more secure with my sats never coming near the internet.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Beginning my pay in bitcoin on: February 02, 2020, 04:08:57 AM
Hello world,
I'm a newbie here but a somewhat seasoned bitcoin hodler. I signed up for bitwage and will begin recieving my pay in 50% BTC and 50% in usd. I figure il keep it like this for the next year. How many people here use them as a way of automating you btc buys? For the last year I've been using exchanges and il say forsure picking opportunities to buy is successful, such as the 6k levels buying. But I was curious if anyone else uses the service?

Make sure you get the bitcoins sent to your keys and that you have a very good system for maintaining your seed phrase secure. Send me a message if you want any advice …50% salary is a very big investment and you should match it with appropriate diligence in security.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitiLeaks reveals the identity of Satoshi! Also takes aim at Craig Wright! on: May 26, 2019, 03:22:56 PM
Any proof that Julian Assange is indeed Satoshi Nakamoto ,
We need a solid proof not just another finger pointing at some person claiming that they know Satoshi Nakamoto.

Julian Assange is indeed Satoshi Nakamoto. BitiLeaks are just getting started!

Craig Wright is a cereal fraudster and 100% not Satoshi Nakamoto!

Cereal? Serial.

You’re website is a sham. There is no article. Assange did a fair amount of posting after being arrested.

10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitiLeaks reveals the identity of Satoshi! Also takes aim at Craig Wright! on: May 13, 2019, 04:06:40 AM
Bitileaks is an organization dedicated to exposing proof in the crypto world.

Bitileaks is also a new book outing Julian Assange as Satoshi Nakamoto. The book also mentions Craig Wright and his many Faketoshi claims.

If you think Bitileaks is here to write a book and leave, think again! We are going to expose Craig Wright for the fraud that he is! We are leaking documents soon to show you for who you really are!!!

Our tip to BSV; dump Craig while you still can!!!
If Assange is SN, he sure posted a lot after turning himself in 07 Dec 2010 (and being held for 9 days)…
11  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Blockstream's Bitcoin Satelite WWW w/ OuterNet USB Reciever. on: February 08, 2019, 04:36:07 AM
I've put up a rough draft of my initial setup at an old disused website that apparently I've been paying to keep the domain name for...for about a decade...

I made about every mistake you can make...so I have some embarrassing but helpful tips on what to do (and not to do): https://www.drgoss.org
12  Economy / Reputation / Re: coingeek.com claims former blockstream cto gregory maxwell "sees light" on: November 09, 2018, 04:33:57 AM
lol what.  Craig Wright and Roger Ver are both conmen. Coingeek is a conman shilling platform,  and their claim that [I have] "come to the realization that Bitcoin SV is the real Bitcoin," is malicious whole cloth fabrication.  Now, Is "Bitcoin SV" the real fake bitcoin (bch)?  Maybe but who cares.

I think it's unfortunate that Wright's over the top mania is causing dissension in his bamboozled army, as having a scam run by an obvious scammer is a win-win... but it seems that there is nothing to be done for it now, the psychosis is just too strong now.

“The real fake bitcoin…” best quote ever. I suppose the real fake bitcoin would be what miners say it is, even if the chain dies because nobody will buy its token. But yeah, I really don’t care about conmen…although I admit concern over bc.i & stellar announcement…seems so much out of right field.
13  Other / Meta / Follow users by merit instead of threads on: August 25, 2018, 03:24:01 AM
Is there a way to search for hero or higher members with at least 10 merit and make that a list to follow? So many threads and so many posts aren’t worth the time…but a more twitter like view of bitcointalk would be cool. Might bring us old timers back.
14  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] BitBills on: April 29, 2018, 12:27:39 AM
Yup. That is me. I had to break a casascius bearer bar to get back in…hence my long absence.

At any rate, I wouldn't do business with someone I couldn't verify out of band. Not with this sum.

What do you mean? They only address you posted was that of a bearer bar so you had to destroy the hologram to sign a message?
Yes.

Anyhow, I defunded these for multi-key multi-state cold storage. I’m not a believer in holding lots of quickly transferable assets.
15  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] Full set of BitBills on: August 06, 2017, 03:43:45 PM
Auction closed. It was easier to cut the cards open and dump the Bitcoin Cash for similar gain.
I did the same with my full set.
16  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] BitBill - Loaded on: August 06, 2017, 03:40:49 PM
2011 BitBill loaded with 1 Bitcoin / bcash / CLAMS. Who knows...the older it gets the more random shit coins it will eventually have! These are extremely rare and do not come up for sale often.

BTC - https://blockchain.info/address/1AydWTkfDjcd5MbJk5x5yHmuCRxwRqyCxu

bcash - https://blockchair.com/bitcoin-cash/address/1AydWTkfDjcd5MbJk5x5yHmuCRxwRqyCxu

CLAMShttp://clam.makejar.com/  (4.6055 CLAMS)

Asking Price 2.25BTC

These are rare and reliable. I just defunded an entire set (36 bitcoins). Each had the funds on them.

Thanks guys. I also see we are still using SMF version 1 from 2009. Ghetto. Oh well, if anyone serious wants images, I can email them. I've been off the forum for a few years, I guess I was kinda hoping things would be different. I do all my forum stuff from an iPhone. Many people live in the post computer world.
19  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] BitBills on: March 06, 2017, 08:11:56 PM
Scratching my head on how to attach images. I'm not uploading these to another server and linking…that's so 1998. Any hints how to attach?
20  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] BitBills on: March 06, 2017, 05:11:41 PM
Interest comes with pics, got any to share? What's their condition? Are you the only owner?

What's the ask or are you waiting for the best bid?
I gotta  swing by the bank to get pics.  I am the only owner.  Once I find a potential buyer we can discuss price.  They are in good shape.

Thanks for the update!

I hadn't heard of these before your listing here. First physical representation of bitcoin, indeed! Here's some additional background on BitBills for interested parties: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Bitbills
