1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Superior Cryptonote Technology on: March 07, 2015, 12:59:17 AM
What about this thread? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=740112.0

And what about the NSA speculations behind Cryptonote? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CryptoNote#NSA_involvement

These are usually never founded.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why was 21 million coins chose as the total number of bitcoins? on: March 03, 2015, 09:02:44 PM
21 million was not chosen, 21 million is the result of multiple other choices.

Initial block reward was 50BTC
1 block is made every 10 minutes
Block reward halves every 4 years

Those three choices lead to 21 million coins, after so many halvings the block reward eventually hits 0 and at that time the number of coins generated happens to be just under 21 million.

Nice answer, thanks for spelling it out like that.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin revolution could be the next internet, says Bank of England on: February 25, 2015, 10:43:48 PM
Very interesting article! I of course wonder if this also means that the next revolution will be the internet.  Sumtimes i guess it pays to be dyslexic.  Cool

Don't they already do this?
5  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Gold Silver Bitcoin on: February 25, 2015, 06:03:47 AM
I have been using gold silver bitcoin for over a year and was poking around the forum here and thought I'd look for a thread like this one. I want to say I have been quite happy with the 10 orders or so I've put in with gold silver bitcoin. I talk with the person there each time and he is nice, answers emails quickly. It is obvious it is a smaller outfit but they are competitive on prices and ship quick. I notice though that if the order is like more than an ounce of gold it ships quicker, but never longer than 5 days if i recall. I am thinking about putting in another order but I am not so sure about the precious metals prices plus bitcoin prices are kinda soft.  I will one day soon when I think things have shaken out if that day ever comes but until then I thought I'd review my experience.

Good to know.
7  Economy / Service Discussion / ProjectJefferson.com Maps are great on: February 25, 2015, 05:31:20 AM
I love the Jefferson Project found at projectjefferson.com. I have gotten a cool map of San Francisco and I am pretty stoked. They are very artsy maps and I love them.

These designs are a major change from the boring maps of the past and are really decorative. With google maps, there is no use for maps more and more each day.

When I first bought my map there weren't too many options but today there are like 4,300 cities in 10 styles each.

The maps are beautiful. I recommend checking them out.
8  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price. Reason on: February 25, 2015, 04:49:59 AM
Hmm...I think independent actors are making investments and trading day-to-day. There is really not much reason for the US gov to actively manipulate Bitcoin at this point unless they are trying to make a little extra cash.
9  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Any resource for bitcoin theft? on: February 21, 2015, 10:24:32 AM
My condolences for your losses. I want to let you know that you will get through this and in the big scheme of things you have learned an invaluable lesson. Unfortunately I feel this is the best way to look at a situation such as this. Money is not everything. You have your life still and that is something so very precious. I hope this does not sour you on Bitcoin as it is really the human condition which leads  some of us to pyscho tendencies like scamming others out of money, lying, cheating, killing and so on. I wish you the very best of luck in your future Bitcoin endeavors.
10  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin and Sales tax on: February 19, 2015, 07:07:56 PM
I do not think this logic works out. Tax collectors would just ultimately have a lot of bitcoin. That is the reality of the society we live. Resources move towards the center, or towards the so-called commanding heights.

11  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: What Can You Say About The Revisions of Bitlicense? on: February 13, 2015, 11:44:10 PM
I think it is sensible action to keep our nation's consumers safe from Bitcoiners who are scammers. The regulation does nothing more than ensure that parties conducting transactions are identifiable and tied to the transactions.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Many Bitcoiners are Mentally Ill? on: February 13, 2015, 11:39:32 PM
Let's not forget sociopathy.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Does Bitcoin Need? on: February 12, 2015, 01:20:40 AM
In my humble opinion this thread over complicates the issues. I don't think Bitcoin  needs anything other than time...

14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: McDonald’s might start accepting Bitcoin soon on: February 12, 2015, 01:08:42 AM
Is this not similar to house Subway began accepting Bitcoin; namey via franchisees? If I am not mistaken McDonalds could move in the same direction.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Advice for the Reddit Bitcoin Husband on: February 10, 2015, 09:46:24 AM
A number of people in this forum could do themselves some good by reading through that reddit thread. This isn't to say that Bitcoin can't turn out to be a worthwhile investment in the long run, but simply that some people don't *truly* understand for themselves what it means to not buy in more than they can afford to lose, especially on something so volatile.

People are quite inexperienced it seems in this space. I have sort of watched finance, and I have seen some people (mostly friends who were gambling in the markets) lose EVERYTHING! Oh man. It was not pretty, especially when they were married.

Let this be a lesson to the younger ones. Be conservative financially. Save like it were the Depression. and work hard. Bitcoin is something that should be supplemental. No more also than 10% of savings. NO MORE than that. Unless you are risky or fine cashwise.

I could take something HUGE about now.
17  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: What countries do bitcoin exchanges need to be registered in on: February 09, 2015, 05:40:03 AM
You are best off far away from the traditional "core" of civilization. So, that is, the most developed countries.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New Domain Name on: February 08, 2015, 08:17:51 PM
Congratulations on exploring this frontier! Something like blogger is nice. I use NameCheap. They have step by step help if you so desire.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Bitcoin took over.... on: February 07, 2015, 03:26:51 AM
We don't need Bitcoin to take over. This is a meaningless thought experiment. What if Bitcoin takes over, and humanity is as depraved as ever? Nothing. Bitcoin is used towards depravity.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2.5 BTC stolen i wanna cry :-( on: February 07, 2015, 03:00:56 AM
I am sorry, OP. On the brightside, this is a relatively cheap lesson.
