1  Economy / Economics / Re: bitfinex lending on: February 26, 2015, 01:15:16 PM
The rates are garbage, but if a loan, or whatever it is called closes early, would the lender still get paid the interest for the day lended? (ex you loan 1 btc, the swap closes in an hour, do you still get 0.02 percent or do they screw you)
The rates are such crap it seems kind of pointless as I could probably make more money off of a $1 scalp than lending for an entire month, but if early closing still gives you interest it is not that bad during times where you don't have a strong stance on a position.

well i played around with finnex, and to be honest even at flash return rate most of the time the coins just lay there. most of the time the loan isnt for the time period you would want, and the return is fixated on return time, not the time you were expecting it to be available.

Its doomed to fail if every bitcoin related businesses gets hacked. After the recent hacking incidents im losing faith

"hacking" of the exchanges will stop once the owners back their bussines with their own personal funds. transparent ownership and bussinesses would stop all this.
Were long way from worldwide acceptance, but if that is to come, all those dreams of 100k / bitcoin might come true, like it happened with 100$ dream not do long ago.

cheers
so you are saying that if a hacker knows who he is robbing, he wont do it?

EU should be dissolved, it brings nothing to the table. Each country should protect their own borders and have its own laws instead of having them imposed by a superior government.

do you see downside to?
what happens when "everyone for themselves!" is brought to table?

Grin so ... use bitcoin instead ... with direct print from paper wallet  Cheesy

BTC's price stability isn't much better.

That and 60 minute wait times are the reasons why BTC didn't take over there.

there is no 60 minutes wait, first confirmation is much faster

Not always. Nevertheless, other cryptocoins are still a lot faster. For example, the first confirmation for a dogecoin transaction usually arrives within a few minutes.

been doing btc transactions for a while now. there hasnt been a time that i had to wait more than 20 minutes for the first confirmation.

Once I had to wait for nealy 50 minutes. I think many bitcoin arbitrageurs have seen even longer times for the first confirmation to hit the blockchain.

i guess you are right, and im just being lucky .. looke it up and since the avarage transaction time is between 5 and 15 minutes, there has been people who were waiting for transactions to go tghrough were as long as 3 hours

CryptoCurrency can not save Zimbabweans, may be they can use some traditional method, like gold?

Gold is not very "user friendly" for everyday life (neither is bitcoin).

are you really implying that bitcoin is as unusable as gold in everyday life?

8  Other / Politics & Society / Re: EU and Greece talks fail! another cyprus moment looms! on: February 18, 2015, 08:52:26 AM
There's no reason why the Euro zone should explode because of one smallish country leaving the club.
Then, it's very different from Cyprus, there aren't many wealthy people with big assets in Greek banks.

That is true but what if Spain, Portugal and Italy for example one day decide same as Greece? In my opinion, Greece is only test but lot of countries in EU have big debt problem.

I don't see a reason for Spain, Portugal or Italy to do the same as Greece. If they're gonna do something so radical.

at some point all coins become tainted, don't they?
