the power draw is huge, but there are not that much options left if you want to mine scrypt.

YUP,  not saying don't buy it, just hold off but if you want it be prepared you need two psu per miner or one server PSU at 2400 watts per miner to be safe at least one 240 line at 30 amps id go to at least 60 amps for these, the 30 amps should power two and half of these at a huge increases in power.

The way it looks atm you can buy from them and feel safe only time well tell how they deal with the public.

I really wish bit main had come thu with the L1, but i  really think Zeus had some thing to do with that. bit main and Zeus at some point were working to gather, I read some place then that was all, no more .

L1 would have put this to shame .
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Asic scrypt miners on: May 11, 2015, 12:50:40 PM
yes i do the sycrpt.cc thing as well i had 600k KHs sold it all off left because it didnt feel right .   i honestly wanna get my own mining farm.  setup . i only have the regualar ac plugs on the wall. the ones you plug a tv or pc into.

its not that bad just don't invest a lot the most out of my packet has been 20 bucks tops so if it goes under i will only lose 20 bucks . if you do it like i did it will take a while but there is no lose so far . I'm up to 61 MH now.it does cash out i have taken some coins to test it .

but as they say be careful, this is about the only one i would do or would recommended with caution, don't invest a lot.

westhash is not that great i would rather run two or three days at the same price same speed then run 24 hours. I  some how feel cheated there. but i guess if you don't like looking for prices it's best and also depends on how prices are going .

Ive seen the westhash bot  say i was out of coins, i go look online, I'm still hashing with a fair of coins left . one time the bot took some coins they kept it, told me pretty much screw off .

Oyea and don't just Script mine do both sha256 and  Script you will make more over time.

Just be careful any place.

Hello, i want to buy some scrypt miner but i don't know if https://www.alcheminer.com/ are legit or not.

They are Legit so far i won't buy the miner not because of trust . there miner are good , but because they use to much power and no PSUs come with it.

but its real legit, i saw one in real live the other day, i forget were but did , but like I said  the power usage is to much for me.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Asic scrypt miners on: May 10, 2015, 03:00:23 PM

Buy four A2 Terminator miners ($800 to $900 each USD).  They have everything in one solid box.

Otherwise - for better energy efficiency - go with the KNC Titans -- but beware of the current issues.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/A2-Terminator-110MH-s-Scrypt-ASIC-Miner-WITH-Power-Supply-like-Gridseed-Zeus/111660774726?_trksid=p2060778.c100276.m3476&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140725133649%26meid%3Dee843eac0cd94dbea4c25173692dc8b5%26pid%3D100276%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D251901176725

@hdmediaservices  but for everyone.

Saw this first thing came to mind was you, so posting it.

nice price or make a offer, he takes offers, with free shipping for a A2 110 MH with PSU,the PSU looks like a sea sonic, i have two sea sonic gold 850, I got a good deal on Amaze for two the other day. they are really good PSU = to Corsair or VGA , so that's a 150 or SO  right there, you may even be able to buy one without a PSU . i would ask if you have your own PSU or can get a better one for less . Smiley.

I'm broke atm or i would buy it .

@ Borgminer

He's right A2's are your best bet right now. The 200-225MH/s AlcheMiner Scrypt ASIC Miner comes without PSU's, you need 2 to run it, are nice, you can find sweet deals on them, but if you don't want to rewire your house or run one or two 240 lines to run a few and 110/120 lines are poss , but not wise.
I'd hold off on buying them till they get the power usage under control more. I was temped two weeks ago when I saw one going to for $ 999 all most bought it, had the cash then , but the power usage is to much for me + I would have to put out another 210 for PSUs . or USE server PSUs

and i know  spartak advice against  but mining is very profitable if you have the power costs below 10 cents per KWH and have the hash and the room in your home, which i do, you won't get rich but will make some nice change, can even make living doing it, i know a few  on the forums who do and have told me they do.

my thought i never advice against it no disrespect spartak maybe in two years i wouldn't home mine or would,  but it's like anything  you have to keep up with it , if your are going to do it.

Look at this to https://scrypt.cc

I built it up to 57 MH so far i started with 1 MH I keep buying more Hash investing it back in to hash till it reach say 100 to 200 MH then start taking the coin and hope the OP running it doesn't skip before i get something worth while out of it. , this is to me how all cloud mining of this nature should be done not how Zeus etc do it .

Diff is dropping a tiny bit in 7.6 days or less, may drop more ,  bit coins are holding at 240 or so .

Hello,

Does anyone have any issues with the export button?  I select it and all I get is the spend of death.  Before the update, it used to work.  If I can get this to work, it'll save me some time building new systems.

ah sh*t! There is a really stupid bug, I missed a / in a url.
If you can change the line 222 of the file assets/js/minera.js https://github.com/michelem09/minera/blob/master/assets/js/minera.js#L222

Now it looks like this:

Code:
var saveUrl = _baseUrl+"app/save_settings";

Change it to this:

Code:
var saveUrl = _baseUrl+"/app/save_settings";

Or wait for the next update if it's not mission critical  Roll Eyes

that fix does work Smiley i used this http://winscp.net/eng/index.php to get into the files , if it helps any ...

Mich sent off some PIC how I rewired my Tx6 ,i think it's that psu it's not bad just how that one works i have the same PSU i use for others things.

7  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF3301 sample chip is available [Updated 04/05/15] on: May 08, 2015, 05:18:58 AM

...

I only see KNC doing that after all they screwed us all .  SP-tech do seem to care can't say much about bitfury they seem to be more for volume buys but seem to be cool .

We are in a very interesting time for BTC from now till the half-ing next year a lot of moves and double moves are to be made.

Sfards looks like they are making a move in the next 60 days.

Cool man  i just hope there miners are affordable and every one benefits from them. and not Priced like they were way back when ..

good points . made here Smiley .

8  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF3301 sample chip is available [Updated 04/05/15] on: May 08, 2015, 05:04:50 AM
Here is how we stop it.

1. Open source ASIC chip.
2. Open source low cost miner design.
3. Low cost miners in every hand.
4. P2Pool with those miners.

well - for example all you have to do is buy Bitfury's chip design and open-source it.
I have already done #2, and plenty of people did #3. #4 will happen by itself.

Yup.

And what happened?
You broke even maybe?
How many Bitfury chips can you buy today?

Millions bought them and now we had decentralized mining right? 100's did that is great but that is not millions, not enough to do much more than keep some hobbyists happy.

There are things you can change. There are things you can't change. I don't see how you break a monopoly that is coming at all.

Expecting these companies to be like you vs3 in anyway is not the hope you should be waiting for. I don't see anyone going to put the time and the effort in to make an ASIC and then get miners in the hands of millions which is the only way you beat the big players. It is over unless that happens somehow.

okay bick I play this game. bitfury can run at 0.07 watts per gh and build cheaply using cheap power.
knc can run at 0.08 watts  per gh and build it cheaply using cheap power.

lets argue why expand hash risking downward btc price pressure.  how about swap  new gear for old gear and cut power cost.
thus the two of them keep a good share of the market hash wise but simply lower expenses with more efficient gear.

I can simply show no big self building miner should ever expand hash power
they should keep changing the older power hungry gear for new power sipping gear.
If knc bitfury and sp-tech  do ever expanding hash rate growth they only hurt each other.
If they self mine with more efficient gear the hurt does not happen.

But only time will tell.

I only see KNC  doing that if at all but they are under more control now, after all they screwed us all .  SP-tech do seem to care can't say much about bitfury they seem to be more for volume buys but seem to be cool.

your right id say but time will tell.

9  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.319/GH & 0.51W/GH on: May 08, 2015, 04:30:07 AM
I was lucky, I got 4 fan Delta  ;DTFC1212DE-SP07 for $ 36 including shipping

thats the fan i got to pair up to the stock fan, it flows alot of air.
the fan i got tho was reversed pwm, so i had to make an adapter.

Sure you get long enough wires??.... the ones on S5's connect to the PCB instead of the HashBoards.
Lot greater travel distance for the wire to connect.
Back then the S1 & S3 fans were interchangeable, the S5 killed that.
The difference is about 2 inches in wire length.
You may need to get your hands dirty or buy the fans directly from Bitmain.
Soldering's no big deal but was kind of stupid to omit the hashboard fan connectors.
Just hope they are long enough, then I'll know what to hunt.

Those 4,000 CFM fans ain't cheap, let alone with enough rope...

Well I was a away from home today and my internet went down.  When I got back home it was up and running and the miners were acting funky.  I powered them down and they all came back up right, but the S5 didn't.  I noticed I am stuck around 500 to 600.  I'm going to go through the steps, but anything upfront would be greatly appreciated.  Miner was running fine up to that point of the internet going down.  The second chain is completely dead.  Thanks in advance.

Here is a guide for PCB: https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/204875015-How-to-diagnose-S5-hashing-PCB

I would use that first to make sure it looks good hardware wise.  It is not bad to check it anyways.

And here is a guide if it does seem to stick around 500-600 area after: https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/203559969-My-S5-hashes-at-about-600GH-S

Please let us all know if that works for you!  Best of luck.

Unscrewing the screws for the board, i notice a stripped screw head.

Is it stripped to point you cant unscrew?  I don't want you to do any damage.

If we cannot go through PCB guide I would go to other guide: https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/203559969-My-S5-hashes-at-about-600GH-S

It is more software then hardware.  But it's worth trying it.

It's a stripped screw and I don't want to damage it.  I was able to move the PCB and check both boards individually.  I have a dead board, and 1 chip dead on the other board.  It also isn't hashing.  This is not a good day.  10 miners and this is the first miner to do this.  ARGGGGGG.

What are the next steps?

Do you know if it's still in warranty? Did you buy direct from Bitmain?

Next step you will need to contact Bitmain Warranty.  They will have to help as far as parts.   Below is the ways to contact them:

There is webpage:
https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us

Skype:
BitmainEnglish

And email:
support@bitmain.zendesk.com

Just over a month old.  Straight Bitmain.  I'll go to the site now.

Thats good news mean still in warranty. They have some great support I'm sure will take care of you.

Any ideas or trick to remove stripped screws?  Of course the last screw has to be the stripped one.

I would ask Bitmain Warrenty what they want you to do on it.

They do sell tools to get out stripped screws at hardware stores, but you would want to be careful.  And it also destroys the screw where you would need a replacement.

Got a Dremel Huh Use the disc grinding wheel & make it a slotted screw  Wink  Use a magnet to catch filings  Cool

with a tap and die set just drill a hole in the top of the screw fine the post from the kit that fits it then screw it out like a screw driver some what safer, less of a mess.

Still called that

That worry's me to.  why sell the a sample chip for so much the miner maybe 1000 or better without shipping . well see .

I am thinking the price of the sample chips reflects, to an extent, the final retail price of chips to future buyers. That, though, would rule out making any market-worthy miner. So sfards, is this sample chip pricing only effective until you release your own rigs, or (assuming there are no further improvements in chip tech) is this the real price we'd also have expect after you release your own rigs?

get tap and die kit . those kits remove screws but like some one said it destroys the screw and you may need to re tap the hole to a bigger screw depends on how care full you are when you remove it and how bad it was striped in the hole .At least that was what it was called a long a time ago it may have  another name now . i haven't used a kit in a few years .

Still not reading my asicminer tubes.

Well now, it could be useful know your settings... For example, you didn't answer me, did you tried with superuser mode?

Sorry must have missed that question, but yes superuser mode is on. Here are my settings right now. Thank You again for the help!

Last try is looking what the miner is doing while tries to start, so get a terminal window in Minera and try launch this command:

Code:
/var/www/minera/minera-bin/cgminer -c /var/www/minera/conf/miner_conf.json

(stop any running miners)

If you are still getting "No devices found", try to run:

Code:
lsusb

And give us the output

Still no go, here is what I got on the terminal screens

He may need to add some thing in the extra option , which i can't help him with . those thing set up strange .from what Ive used . Zeusminer  antminer are pretty easy to set up.

tubes have there own prox  etc if I'm  not mistaken on top of the controllers you can use with them . i had one once never got it working it right , but it was one of the 30 GH ones way back when .

Also make sure you have the right pool info Ive  seen some miners not log in or even work with the pool info wrong, even if it says it's correct .

make sure your asicminer tubes software is set up right . that blue screen behind your miners IP.

OFC I'm guessing at this point

***Only the below pools work directly with Tubes due to a current error in the firmware. Other pools will require the use of a proxy (see next section).***

17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Scrypt Coin Miners - stop wasting hash and start making more money! on: April 28, 2015, 02:48:29 PM

Ok - so for those that bought a subscription to this -- where is V2?

I thought it was coming to the masses on April 20th?

Also - will one be limited in how much they can hash based on the subscription that they bought?  If you do limit them - is there some tolerance?  As hash can easily appear to be more than you actually have…

Everyone was sent an email via BCC on the 18th explaining the migration process and that people would be migrated to V2 based on date of original signup and you are near the end. People will not originally be limited to hash based on their subscription agreement but they will be monitored and if their hashing rate consistently exceeds their subscription level they will be 'strongly' encouraged to purchase the appropriate subscription level. Your subscription should come up for migration in the next 5 to 7 days.

Thanks man all I needed to see . as i said on face book i have yet to see only one email and  i keep a close on all my emails, like i  said i would never have asked if I saw that email.

SO thank you again.

i just hope it better then a s5 or I'll go buy another s5, then do the upgrade fun it's more fun to me but the upgrade it self really won't be that great unless it more in line with a S4 even if its a little less then a S4 +.

to me the S1 to S3 upgrade was fun to do and a nice upgrade .
19  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Damaged Cyclone 22MH Scrypt miner (WORKING but damaged) on: April 27, 2015, 01:42:08 AM
I have a WORKING cyclone, that was damaged in shipping when I purchased it used. It had two broken fans and it was bent up a bit... That being said if you use a little deskfan like I did or replace the fans it should be practically good as new.  I am no longer mining BTC or scrypt, so I'm getting rid of the rest of the stuff that I have.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/s11751ad2i7mgxv/cyclonedamage.JPG?dl=0

offers? I don't even know what to ask. Thanks!

how is it damaged ? . it hashes ? whats damaged ?.  i may be interested if it still works ,I'll  fix any thing else as long it still hashes at 22 MH or better with no issue. by that mean low Hard ware below 10 % and no over heating no mater what's done to fix it.replacing the fans is the first thing I'll do, i found a lot quieter fan that's does the same exact thing with it  over clocked and works like  the stock fans.

If the case is messed up to bad , i have a  x6 thunder case laying around I'll move it to.

but before i offer were is it shipping from I'm in the US if it's from the UK  etc, i have to pass the shipping is to much from any place overseas for any of the big over sized script miners Ive noticed.

if your in the US that offer i gave is with out shipping forgot to add that I'll do the post office or even with ups thu my ups account up to 22 shipping in the US with a per label I'll pay for and send the info, if not in the US pass, sorry .

It still hashes, case can still work, it's mostly the fans, you've got a deal.

I PMed you back how do you want to work it i can pay cash or btc if btc in about two days if cash any time let me know . how and what way .
20  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: antminer S5 on: April 26, 2015, 11:06:02 PM
0.13 USD per KWH

If your power is over $0.10 I would not recommend getting into the Bitcoin mining business, at least not for now.

Antminer S5 can get you 1.15 TH/s with about 600W of power usage. Your power costs would be about $56.00 per month and your monthly profit would be only $25.00 based on the current Bitcoin rate and difficulty. This month the difficulty is expected to increase, so your profit would even decrease.

You can use the profit calculator here -  http://www.coinwarz.com/calculators/bitcoin-mining-calculator/?h=1155.00&p=600.00&pc=0.13&pf=0.00&d=47610564513.47130000&r=25.00000000&er=221.98970000&hc=400

You probably won't even get the money back for the hardware you would spend.

was about to say that's not cheap at all . for that many miners to be safe he would need a building out side his home or i would, one with 3 240 lines at 50 amps or better and at least two 120 lines for external add ons to plug in stuff to be safe,  would even need a business account in  my state for that much power usage per month  which is cheaper then homes get here. I'm at 8.55 cents per KWH to me that's to much compared to some in US at 4 cents per kwh .Id kill for that if i could get it and not move to Washington state.

SO to the OP bear in mind if you plan to run that many in your home there is a lot more involved then just plugging that many miners in your home .if that's the plan, but then there that's  poss of blocks being hit sooner and faster with that much hash pumping out all the time  Smiley .

difficulty in 6.5 days: 48882648479.1 or less so not to bad but still the power cost would be a nite mare for me .
