1  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Extending BitID with TidBit and introducing a new Simple Bit Keystore on: February 09, 2015, 04:26:15 AM
In developing out Skubit services, I needed to put some pieces in place. I extended BitID into a new protocol called TidBit (Token ID Bitcoin Authentication). It uses digitally signed JSON Web Tokens (JWT), which will be more extendable and allow handling of things like scopes and authorizing services based on a bitcoin address.
I also had an outstanding request to allow import/export of keys in BitID Authenticator. So I went ahead and formalized Simple Bit Keystore. This is an easy, portable way to store encrypted EC keys in JSON format. This format should be easy to use in web apps as well.

The proposals are here. Let me know if it's of general use to the community.

All of this is now implemented in BitID Authenticator 1.3, with source code:

The site you can test TidBit on is:

The mobile flow is not ideal. For registration, user has to enter password twice. Then they need to confirm email and then login. For mobile, best to have registration and login one step, no entering of password twice.

I think there needs to be a smaller, cleaner image for the referral images. The is a lot of verbiage in the image so the smallest one (468x60) becomes hard to read.  As is, I don't feel comfortable putting the image on my site, which I try to keep very clean. Otherwise, it's looking good.

Love the idea. But what I'm really interested is if there is a mobile optimized version?

Thanks everyone for the comments, I'll contact SD and let them know about the app. It's all open-source so anyone can review the code and do an independent build for their own use. To verify that the code on github is the same as what is delivered, this could be done through submitting it to F-Droid. They take care of pulling code, building and signing over a thousand  open-source apps. So there are ways to make the process public.

I released an Android app for Satoshi Dice. You can do session and blockchain bets.

It's on the Skubit Market. Go to the Gambling category: http://catalog.skubit.com/SkubitMarket.apk

All the code is here: https://github.com/skubit/skubit-satoshidice

I released the source code so people can see how bitcoin betting is done. Any bugs, just let me know or open an issue in github. Have fun.

so is this safe to install in my mobile ? what type of permission you ask to install the app

Yes, it's safe. All the code is open-source: https://github.com/skubit/fdroid-client/tree/master/F-Droid

It just requires some network permissions: internet, wifi, bluetooth. It also requires permission to write to SD card.

No you can't download it from the Google Play Store. It's against Google's non-compete terms to upload a competing market application to their market. Also none of the applications using Skubit's bitcoin IAB could upload to Google's Play Store since that is also considered competitive to their payment system (their official stance is that having options would confuse the customer).  So to use bitcoin, we really have to create a smaller ecosystem separate from the Play Store. The Skubit AppStore is a shot to finally do that.

I just released the Skubit AppStore. It caters to bitcoin users and developers. It has options for developers to add bitcoin addresses for donations. It also includes an IAB (in-app billing) feature for developers to sell virtual items in bitcoin.

You can download the current version of Skubit AppStore

Or upload apps at:
