1  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Just had account hacked. Please help :S. on: March 28, 2019, 03:39:39 PM
Since it likely doesn't matter anyway here is the bitcoin address the funds were moved to.

32cDFtEeUsCX9eYPWh56PoX26L47ySz8SH

Looks like the funds are on the move. Along with what is likely other ill begotten gains.

The IP addresses that were used are:
100.43.112.216 - which appears to be in south korea
104.158.11.46 - which appears to be in ontario, canada.

If the attacker is reading this:

Well played sir. I respect your skills even if I despise your ethics. I hope the money you earn is worth the corruption of your character.

Yes I have cold storage as well, thankfully. I WAS using these funds to trade with.
3  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Just had account hacked. Please help :S. on: March 28, 2019, 03:00:30 PM
The exchange was Kraken, which is in the process of requiring 2fa but not there yet. I got pwned just in time. I noticed about an hour after the attack that my funds were gone. there were notification emails sent by the exchange but for some reason the push notifications for my email have not been working and I did not notice them... The attacker attempted to delete the emails from the exchange but they are in my 'deleted folder'

I am wary of posting details such as the bitcoin address and IP address in case I tip off the guy that I'm following this and what I know... What do you guys think in this case?
4  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Just had account hacked. Please help :S. on: March 28, 2019, 02:40:58 PM
Did not have 2FA, Fucked up Sad. Attacker gained access to email and reset my exchange password. Pretty sure that makes me screwed.
5  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Just had account hacked. Please help :S. on: March 28, 2019, 01:29:03 PM
This was essentially my alt coin portfolio. Was too lazy to make cold storage for all the separate coins. Paid for that laziness dearly. Value was in the 5 figure range. Not a life changing amount I would say, but given another bull run it could have been... I thought I was soo smart DCA'ing into everything as it crashed..... I am very patient and was well positioned for the next run I believe Sad

Hello fellow bitcoiners I have recently had my account at an exchange compromised and am out to the tune of tens of thousands. Harsh day to be sure. I realize there is little hope of ever seeing that money again but I would like to investigate this as far as I can. I have the bitcoin address the funds have moved to as well as several IP addresses that were used to carry out the attack. If anyone thinks they can help please message me.

I have changed relevant account information and contacted the exchange. Any suggestions of next steps would be appreciated.

I have recently been going through a series of tutorials on naive chain and naivecoin. So far has been a very enjoyable read.

So at what price does mining equipment start to get liquidated?
9  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 30, 2018, 06:48:47 PM
Tether might be a scam, quick sell your bitcoin for Tether! /bitfinexTraders

EDIT: I suppose you could transfer the tethers to an exchange that offered USD/USDT trading...  If the market is actually concerned about tether it is on that pair we should see panic selling I would imagine... current USD price on kraken at time of this post: $0.9899

Bitcoin cash is the original block chain?? I am fairly certain the information in that image is just wrong. Segwit activation did not cause a hardfork, it motivated it.

API trading is giving back bad values for the ticker. Also the expire time on all my orders is coming back as 17 seconds.. even though they do not expire within that time.
12  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] KRAKEN.COM - Exchange with USD EUR GBP JPY CAD BTC LTC XRP NMC XDG STR ETH on: January 13, 2018, 06:49:19 PM
Yeah, the more I look at this the more I think the order books are still fucked up.

Their API doesn't seem to be working correctly....

this is what I get back for the Bitcoin canadian dollar ticker

 'XXBTZCAD': {'a': ['13000.00000', '1', '1.000'],
              'b': ['13000.00000', '1', '1.000'],
              'c': ['18289.60000', '0.00632760'],
              'h': ['18999.90000', '18999.90000'],
              'l': ['12000.00000', '12000.00000'],
              'o': '16700.00000',
              'p': ['17858.33936', '17858.42681'],
              't': [229, 230],

notice the bid and ask are 13,000, yet on their website it is a much more reasonable price of around 18,000.

I technically called the bitcoin top 11 months ago in the following post if you count segwit as 2MB blocks:

The rationale for this post is that bitcoin doesn't actually function as a store of value.  It's so called value is entirely based around flow and not stock.  It cannot derive value from anything besides the utility it provides to facilitate turnover in commerce.  I estimated the point at which bitcoin is forced to morph from a general commerce system to a mostly settlement layer, and that is the point at which the invisible hand of the market crushes it because there are far better stores of value to use as a settlement layer like gold and silver.

The purpose of a real settlement layer is to do things like store generational wealth without having to worry if the bottom dropped out of it over night.  The value of things like gold and silver is NOT based entirely on flow like bitcoin. They can derive value more from stock, while bitcoin can't.  If you stash away a pile of imaginary bitcoins for 10 years, you have no idea if the value will be higher, lower, or completely zero when you come back to them.

Technically, increasing the TPS of bitcoin is beneficial to price, but that's only if you can trick people into believing it's decentralized when it's not actually possible to create a decentralized digital currency.  The only core reason for most of bitcoin's commerce right now is an attempt at regulatory arbitrage.  Due to the extreme centralization of bitcoin, the govt will easily destroy that use case causing it's lack of fundamentals to be exposed, nullifying anything people attempt to do with TPS or propaganda claiming it's decentralized when it's really not.

Post where I made that prediction:

If you call a top everyday eventually one of those calls will be right. /brokenclocktwiceadayorsomething

So I just recently got into mining with a S7 this month. I turned it on just in time for the 875% block of death, which was followed not far behind by the 928%. Not gonna lie, I considered bailing on this pool.. At the end of the day I decided that I wanted to support a small(er) pool to support decentralisation and chose to have faith in what I know about probability. Today I am sure glad that I did Smiley I got an S9 on the way from bitmain in December, can't wait to hook it up. Mine on gentlemen!
18  Bitcoin / Mining support / Safe Temperature for s7's on: October 22, 2017, 06:52:12 PM
Hello everyone I have recently started running an antminer S7 and was wondering what temperatures are considered "safe". Not looking to break my new equipment! I put my miner is what is usually the coldest room in the house, and it has now become the hottest room in the house(I am hoping that by running this through the winter I can lower my "effective" cost of electricity by reducing the need to keep my electric heat on all winter.).

Anyway my questions is what should I be aiming for with regards to the internal temperature. I have the frequency and fan settings at default. right now my temperature reads: 60 66 61. Is this alright? Do I need to perhaps open a windows or buy a fan / ac unit?

This has also given me an idea of using miners as space heaters in living areas. My chief concern here is noise as it will be in the same room where I relax and watch TV. Any one have any ideas here? Profitability isn't as big a concern here as any electricity it uses would have been used anyway by a regular heater. I'm thinking maybe just underclocking some units and then lowering the fan speed, but I would love to hear everyone's thoughts on this as well!
19  Bitcoin / Mining support / Power supply for s7 on: September 22, 2017, 09:57:43 AM
Hey guys, I recently purchased a used s7 off ebay and it came with 2 power supplies. The issue i am having is that each power supply only has 8 pci connectors.

Is it a bad idea to only attach 2 connectors to each hash board? It seemes to boot up but I'm hesitant to run it like rhis..

What id like to know is 1. Is this at all risky? 2. Does this reduce the efficiency of my miner? If any of these are yes, what do you guys suggest as a power supply? The official bitmain one, or something else?
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Random thoughts on the recent and upcoming hardforks. on: August 18, 2017, 08:23:23 PM
The aftermath of the BTC/BCH split means that the market is less afraid of hard forks.

On the day of the hardfork I facetiously asked on reddit:

what is the limit then? Why don't we do a fork every day? Fuck it, lets continuously compound the shit outta this, and all go buy Maserati's
I meant that as a reductio ad absurdum but if the upcoming 2x split has a similar positive(ish) outcome, we may see the flood gates open as everyone with a half-baked idea on how to improve the network comes out with their own hard-fork.

This raises the question about the so called 21mm hard cap on the number of bitcoins. If the chain can simply be copied to infinity, doesn't that compromise the inflation-resistant properties that made bitcoin so popular amoung people concerned about the inflationary nature of the current financial system?

I do not believe so, space on each particular network will still be limited, and tokens belonging to those networks will thus be valued. But which network will be valued? And who gets to claim the bitcoin 'title'.

People mostly are looking at hash rates and price differences between BTC and BCH and probably plan to do the same thing during the hardfork in November.

These metrics are interesting and important but may I propose another way of measuring who gets the crown; the chain that spawns the most new valuable hardforks. If I esiewert, decided to create a new hardfork years down the road, I would have to choose which chain to split from. I could bcash, bseg or bseg2x. By then the ownership on each chain could be radically different. I will choose whichever one I feel has the most support behind it and / or would be most responsive to whatever changes I propose. Eventually the market will decide on a particular chain as the 'base' from which other forks happen. Speculators will pile into this everytime a fork occurs that has any value, and this chain will have massive value.

Unless I am mistaken the upcoming fork will be from the BTC / core / segwit / bitcoin chain.

HODL on gentlemen, HODL on.
