1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin *WALLET 1.7, UPGRADE ASAP! on: April 06, 2014, 12:35:23 AM
Don't upgrade guys until he tells us what he's spent the premine on.

We've got a right to know how much of the community premine has been spent and on what. What the addresses are of the funds being stored etc.

This is our chance.
Cryptocoins don't come with any 'rights'. If you don't like Mintcoin then any you still have.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin *Wallet 1.7, Mandatory update! on: April 04, 2014, 03:21:15 AM
For everything regarding the Android wallet, refer to Beaverslayer1 from now on. He will give more info soon and handle the project.

Well, I have been in contact with the Mintcoin developer and discussed the Android Wallet issue with him as we all know this project has to not only get off the ground and implemented ASAP to further the advancements of Mintcoin.

A bounty for this project has been established and is outlined in the following requirements. Seeing as the bounty is a graduated bounty, it may be advisable that a few of you that have mentioned you are willing/capable of doing such work, maybe work together on different parts of the wallet.

The one thing that has been discussed openly here in the forum, is whether the wallet is open source or proprietary, the only wallet that is eligible for the bounties MUST BE OPEN SOURCE. The reasoning for this, is that all crypto currencies are based on the open source concept as this gives greater freedom to the general public to be able to “Customize” any part of the software to their own individual liking. It also allows the ease of bug fixes to be looked at, fixed and implemented faster as you're not waiting on one single source to fix the problem.

Here's the outline of the graduated bounties:

1: Basic Android Wallet for Phone and Tablets         5,000,000 Mintcoins
2: PoS Coin Minting Feature               3,500,000 Mintcoins
3: Battery Management Feature                   1,500,000 Mintcoins

There have been some of you that have expressed interest in donating extra funds to this project, should you still be interested, please contact me via PM and express your desire and amount of donation.
10,000,000 Mintcoins from the premine as a bounty from the dev. Maybe that'll stop all the hatespeak against the use of the premine.

This isn't about stopping all the hate speak, it is all about getting a working Android Wallet out to the masses so that Mintcoin can be used and spent as a true crypto currency by a ever growing crypto community. The sooner we all work together getting more and more people accepting and using crypto currencies, the better for all of us, not just Mintcoin.
Yeah, I know. Too bad it won't be Mintcoin only though... Just sayin'.

And please, don't insult us and bring up this Foundation nonsense (since they are not actually involved in this anyway).

Sorry? You obviously did not read much about this. PM me if you want more detail

I try not to intervene on the posts, but sometimes I just can't resist. How weak I am.

Build the tools first to spread the message second.

Sort of like a car needs wheels before you can drive it.

Not to be rude but I have an appointment in 30 minutes, have to run.
Why stop now!

None of this is a reason to bash BC community. It would make us look weak and focused not on our coin&project, but on the envy on others.
I think those actually bashing the BC community are a vocal minority in the Mintcoin community. I wouldn't worry too much about those types sullying the Mintcoin name - they only sully their own name. But, I agree, we should focus on Mintcoin, and not worry about winning a pissing contest with other coins.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin *Wallet 1.7, Mandatory update! on: April 03, 2014, 11:15:39 AM
why donate to toward a generic wallet that is going to be built first and used by everyone anyway?

the thing that makes the androids wallet something someone would pay for is if it were exclusive to MINT and you could use a tablet or mobile device to mint

otherwise it's a generic wallet app I'd probably never use

the reason to have a mint exclusive app that mints is that it make MINT something special and therefore more valuable, that's what I would be interested in paying to develop

Sure get prepared to pay 50 btc for a wallet from scratch..

U get what u pay for... Android wallet is gpl so I dont even know if you can close it since your using open source base. Alot of people still havent clued in to the open source movement.. which allowed you to even have your mintcoin.. now you want your pie and eat it too.

I think it should be open source. I will donate for that, or a private one, or any one. Or what about the possibility of cross-community funding? Considering this could be a big deal and benefit all cryptos in general. It's really kind of silly to debate until we figure out what the state is of the one that is already being worked on (is it open source or not) and how far along it is.
Well reasoned thinking here. I'll adjust and contribute if it is closed and/or if it is open source BUT crowdsourced with Mint and Black and other POS coin support. I just don't like the idea of free riders from other coins. paspi makes good points and clearly knows his ish. I can't argue on those technial points.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin *Wallet 1.7, Mandatory update! on: April 03, 2014, 02:50:15 AM
Seems like,

If people want a fully functional android wallet soon and for it to be released before other coins release one, it will probably need to be based on what is already open-source. If that is the case, then other people will be free to adapt it to their coins right away.

If people want a fully functional android wallet that is at least partially or temporarily exclusive to MintCoin, it will probably need to be built (more) from scratch and this may compromise being able to release it soon/first.

Yeah, you're right bro. So, since I and some others want the latter (Mintcoin only) let's see just how many resources we can throw at a bounty! I'm in for 75,000 Mintcoins for a private, custom built app. That's not a lot, but it's something. Maybe there's some of the premine bounty? Other individuals? If we can't get enough, then it fails and it'll be open source and copied immediately - that's the tradeoff.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin *Wallet 1.7, Mandatory update! on: April 03, 2014, 01:39:08 AM
I believe the app should be exclusive to MINT and allow minting on a Android device to be eligible for the bounty

why pay a bounty for an open source development that can be used by competitors? If someone wants to develop a generic PoS wallet that's fine but it is of no particular benefit or interest to me

So I would never be a party to that type of agreement
Agreed, I'm on the same page as you. Mint only, or I won't contribute to a bounty for it.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin *Wallet 1.7, Mandatory update! on: April 03, 2014, 01:21:49 AM
well it looks like the wallet bounty has undergone some transformation

I withdraw my pledge until something sensible is worked out
mburks, I hope I wasn't the one who threw a turd in the pool. What do you envision for sensible?

One thought, just put my 75,000 as a bonus for a private Mintcoin wallet.

It is telling though, that people are willing to only contribute to an open source app. Not saying they are bad or wrong or right. Just noting that It sort of proves the point that an open source Mintcoin app will almost immediately be co-opted for other coins. I would prefer avoiding that situation and promoting only Mintcoin.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin *24 Exchanges *37 Merchants on: April 03, 2014, 12:57:42 AM
I think Jeff Jefferson said he would pledge 300k as well!

yes, but it REALLY has to mint. otherwise it's just another android wallet of a coin. we need to make the difference guys. I also think its not that necessary to use an escrow. I think MINT users are sincere and honest people, am I right?  Roll Eyes

I also had the concerns about the upcoming android wallet being open source so the others just can copy it. So I would propose a simple not open source app at first in the google play store. Than after a month or two the source code should be released.

This is privately offered bounty for a working prototype, upon public delivery. Offered separately from other bounties that may exist.

So far the total is:

mgburks77:      250,000
stormia:          125,000
garicson:         200,000
jeff jefferson:   100,000
moderndezigns:200,000

Total:          875,000

Bonus for wallet that mints:
mgburks77:     250,000
jeff jefferson:   200,000
moderndezigns:50,000

Total: 500,000

Total Total: 1 375 000  Grin

I'm sure there are other people willing to contribute!

Looks like gonzoucab said he would donate for a wallet that is fully functional and mints as well. (Sorry if I am misunderstanding your post. I don't want you to get left off the list if you are, though!):

I can pledge 125K for when a fully functional wallet that mints is deployed.

Im also asking a developer for a twitter bot, maybe i will fund myself alone. is not too much. Smiley

We are better, we are greener we are mint.

Well stormia, i will improve my pledge, i will give the same ammount as you in the same conditions, whatever you decide i will apport the same!

Well, in that case, I will add another 75K of donations to the bonus for a wallet that mints! Thanks for showing your support gonzoucab and compelling me to increase mine Grin

Just wanted to bump this so we can return focus to the important tasks at hand now, like the android wallet. I may have cut off some pledges because this quote was from a while back. Going back to the open source issue, I think we should (and currently have to) keep it open source. Perhaps other coin communities that want this be accomplished could donate as well?
stormia, I would like to commit 75,000 to a private Android wallet that is owned by the Mintcoin Foundation. I'm not interested in funding an app that another coin will use right after it is made for Mintcoin. There's zero unique benefit to Mintcoin if it's open source.

Update on the potential security issues mentioned earlier.

As a cautionary measure and since MINT does not really need PoW, we have decided to get rid of the PoW. We don't want to take any security risk.
And since our ego is less important than your hard earned money, we won't have any problem to be thankful to another coin dev if it appears he has helped to increase MintCoin's security.

For now, a new wallet is available and this is a mandatory update!

paspi, did you get a bounty for your work on the Ubuntu client? I'm BEYOND thankful for your work! You deserve some Mintcoins for it.
I'm very pleased to hear it's helpful to someone! Cheesy I got a few bounties, but not sure if any for Ubuntu, donations are always welcome Smiley

I packaged the new version and uploaded it to Launchpad PPA, it's scheduled to be compiled to a binary package in an hour and then it will be available.
Awesome bro! Just sent you 1,000 Mintcoins. I wish it could be more.

You're right, but I wanted to pat the Devs on the back. They are taking a lot of crap from fools, and I just wanted them to know that some of us really appreciate their work. That's all. Yes, moving on.

Dishonest dev, dishonest community.

thisisit and others like him/her just post stuff to get people to reply to them, get a rise out of people, and maybe benefit themselves in some way by making people question the value of Mintcoins so they'll dump their coins. But really, mostly, it's because they want to get people all pissed off. It's how they get their rocks off. That's all. Just ignore and move on.  Not worth even reading their garbage. Not worth trying to prove them wrong. I have them ignored in the forum so I don't even see their baloney - saves a bunch of time!

Next please.

We have been made aware of potential security issues for MintCoin recently. As we always do, we're actively looking into these issues if any. If there is anything to fix, we'll do it, and we'll do it the best way possible.

I'd like to take this opportunity to point out to all the people who FREAKED OUT and said the devs are douchebags and losers, that the dev team replied within an hour of all this bellyaching and name calling.

People get pissed off when I call individuals out by name for being turds, but you know who you are. Others and newcomers reading this part of the thread should take note of the people who obviously have ulterior motives. Don't be fooled by people trying to scare you. Use your brain and think for yourself. Bottom line, the dev team is on it, Mintcoin is all systems go.

Uh what. Blackcoin team emailed Mintcoin dev over 20 hours ago about this privately and Mintcoin dev wouldn't regonise the problem.

Even now when it's gone public the mintcoin dev still states he'll fix it if it's a problem. Good luck putting your faith in a dev who can't read the blockchain and recognise what has happened  Cheesy
Whoa! You're kidding me!
