1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: October 08, 2017, 06:43:01 PM

Current SC's prices are good for renters, but not the hosts.

Simple math tells us that with a 15 TB hdd farm, I'd make 4.5 usd/month by renting all of those disks. That's based on your very own numbers.

It's not even worth the electricity.

Sia will never be a good hosting solution, it's either unprofitable for the renter or the host.

You point out exactly why Sia has an excellent chance of becoming the premier storage provider.  Hosts are currently accepting low rates as overall demand is low.  One only has to look at the jump in contracts to see the low rates having the expected impact (https://siastats.info/index.html).  When the system matures and we reach an equilibrium of sorts, prices will rise.  No person is mandated to accept prices in a free market deal.  Any agreed upon deal can be accepted as beneficial to both parties; else, there would be no contract.  To the best of my knowledge, Sia is the only game in town that has created a true decentralized free market.  Free markets are the most efficient in the world.  If the devs stay on this project til maturity, Sia may very well become a game changer.  Kudos to the hard working coders.

Is there anything major in the pipeline for Sia currently?

I'd say this is pretty major news that seems to be unrecognized.  Sia accomplished a working backend S3 style server using Minio.  This coin should be going up in value.  Imagine an Imgur(ish) type service based on Sia storage.  If you're running a service and storage cost is giving you the blues, here's your solution!

Good job on your holdings!  I only have peanuts, but, I'm still concerned about moving funds to fiat.  Can you elaborate on moving funds to fiat?  I'm considering Coinbase to Bank Account.

That should be perfectly fine for those sort of amounts, even up to mid size np.

Thank you.  That puts my mind at ease.   Smiley

The hardest part of all this I've found is still the link between digital currency Exchanges and the legacy banking system, three banks have arbitrarily closed down my accounts in the last year, one that I'd been banking with for over forty years, though I never did any virtual currency stuff through some of them so I don't know for sure why that was, but I finally found a way to safely move funds to fiat that was also acceptable to the system in place currently, at least so far, touch wood.

Anonymous transactions seem to bring value to coins.  With all the improvements on the roadmap, VIA may someday eclipse LTC.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Viacoin (VIA) - Safe | Segwit | Lightning Network | Auxpow | Fast on: May 29, 2017, 07:17:36 PM
So about the bug (which is only in auxpow, so this doesn't effect you guys)

According to Wang Chung and I quote:
"There might be bug in getauxblock or other mining related code
pblock returns in getauxblock sometimes point to invalid memory
Repeated call getauxblock and watch bits/target it returned
 This sometimes crash the node
 bits sometimes can be zero
I would recommend you make getauxblock returns bits instead because there was a few lines of code protected bits=0 target from returning.
getauxblock shows blocks are being accepted but they are not."

I asked him for the debug file, but he claims there is nothing on it.
I tried the same & run a pool but my node didn't crash. But F2Pool Wang Chung claims his node does.

So that's what I currently try to solve.
Now a lot of people want to see Viacoin singal ASAP, so I will put my own "dev mentality as in I want to fix it myself" aside so
If anyone is able to fix it before I can, I will offer a bounty in BTC or VIA as thanks if F2Pool starts signaling Segwit for Viacoin (Whatever you want) out of my own pocket.

Repo link: https://github.com/viacoin/viacoin/tree/0.13-dev
Currently I am trying to fix it myself too. (Feel free to PM me ONLY if you want to work on fixing it and get the bounty)

It only effects the beta wallet (pools shouldn't run it anyways).
All pools are running Core 0.10.11 which works fine now.

Reposting it here. Maybe A bounty of $1000 worth in BTC sounds fair if someone could solve it before me .

Very generous.  That should get some folks looking at the code.  Without debug file and unable to reproduce issue, it sounds like daunting task.  Wish I had the skills to help.  I'm sure you'll get to bottom of issue.  Keep up the good work!  Agree with previous poster that VIA seems superior to many other coins, yet, value remains low.  Feel sure that will change in short order.  Smiley

Wouldn’t get too excited over this project until checking out the interface.  Lured in by the implied simplicity of creating buckets, you are then directed to tutorial using Linux command lines.  I understand it’s a work in progress, but, three years in and touted as functional.  Yet, no interface for public consumption.  No surprise that farmers can’t get shards on their dedicated equipment.
8  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] NiceHash.com - sell & buy hash rate cloud mining service / multipool on: May 20, 2017, 01:15:51 PM
Dafuq?

"Error! Your API request quota has been breached. You can try again in 55 seconds."

I monitor my miners from my PC on your web page. Why the change?

Please advise

Dafuq is right.  I sometimes mine two wallets and have to sit at computer and wait B4 checking second miner.  Total BS.

Will the new AMD gpu architecture change landscape of monero mining?  It seems new architecture will be able to stream data from system memory or an SSD.
10  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] NiceHash.com - sell & buy hash rate cloud mining service / multipool on: April 10, 2017, 04:16:13 PM
Anyone noticing a problem with reporting today?  Only a small percentage of my hashpower is being recognized by nicehash.

My unpaid balance and profitability in USD dropped by 50%.    Shocked

On the bright side at least this thread isn't heavily moderated like ltctalk  Grin

Never had any problems posting anything I like over there. Never had anything deleted.

It's simple actually:
- If you really need swear words to make your point use the * for f***s sake.
- Don't make threats if you know what's good for your health Wink
- Always try to be a gentleman/lady my good sir

Hope it helps... Smiley

It's rare to see a forum where people act like adults.
People speak in a manner that would never happen in face to face encounters.

1) First comes the belittling post where someone implies stupidity.
2) Next comes a sharp edged response.
3) Follow-up commonly includes name calling.

I do consider #3 a sure sign of low intellect.  That is exactly what
bothers me about LTCtalk.  There is a moderator over there that engages
in such behavior.  Uncalled for and a black eye for the community.
Same moderator also had very low tolerance for any criticism of LTCgear.
I expect the enthusiasm has been dampened by now.

New ETA.  The week frame has now turned into 2 weeks.  No waves of functioning wallets.  He's just f**king with us now.

He's been fucking with everyone for over two months now. Took you this long to figure it out?

Sounds like someone lost a LOT OF MONEY.

I really don't understand you net denizen, legal eagles. I can tell you that any lawyer, if they are being honest, will laugh you out of their office if you tell them about your problem.

I can also tell you that Bee's lawyer, if he has one, is probably toasting and smoking a cigar with Bee, because there really isn't anything you can do.

So just stay calm, and be a BEE-liever Wink

Do you happen to be:

  • Romanian Lawyer
  • Mining Farm Operator
  • LTCT Moderator

Nope. Just someone swimming in shit creek (since too many people to fit in the boat) like you all Tongue

And when we climb out of the creek and the sun starts drying us, it'll be like a cloud mining scented facial mask.

So whats the next excuse gonna be?

I lilked the one idea from that guy the suggested that today a one week maintenance will start thats a sweet one that gives 7 days instead of just 1 at a time.
So Im with that one , site will come back up with some bs about next week balances will appear *it was suggested in this thread by someone i dont wanna look for the quote but can't take credit ill +1 it.

Dont cry about trolling Im not getting paid by ltcgear like everyone else.
But as long as where waiting id like to read some Funny suggestions on what the next excuse will be!

So I need another Week has my vote!

ETA Feb 26 - Day of management week postponed until several days later due to technical reasons, day of maintenance week required 2 days earlier, modifications are made after management day but before maintenance day, lat tests

Now that's funny as s**t!

Looks like we're gonna get more cryptic messages and changing dates.  Guess the joke's on me as I thought I spied a glimmer of hope.

I wonder if these modifications mean multiplication?  The site has been down long enough now and usually in the past when these do occur.

Muliplication? Are you out of your mind? Who cares if he does multiplication? Nobody is ever getting paid again anyway. Jeez!  Tongue

Just activating payouts would be swell  Roll Eyes

Absolutely!  With our normal mining balances in tact of course.
I would consider multiplication etc as side issues for now.

Site back down again but with a new message !?

Deja poo, the feeling you've seen this shit before... Wink

It's groundhog day everyday for ltcgear

Perfect analogy!

At least Totscha will get paid today Cheesy

The day isn't done yet Wink

I'll dare you say such a thing.  I believe S to be a man of his word and that Totscha will be paid accordingly.

He's just saying that Chris can still pay.

That was exactly my point Wink

And it was a very good point indeed.  Is that an eye-patch you're wearing?
