1  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: public Q to MagicalTux: what will you do if one can not prove where he lives? on: May 09, 2012, 12:59:26 AM
This is what Google does for Adsense payouts.

I would make the bitcoin price variable, so it will be pegged to around $20 but I won't be adjusting the price for minor fluctuations or on a regular basis. So if the bitcoin price jumps up I would slash the price.

Wow. It's $11 a month through Astraweb.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Iran and SWIFT on: March 17, 2012, 01:17:10 AM
Ah yes, threads like these make it all worthwhile: let's push a shady internet currency onto a poor nation who experiences one of the worst internet censorship in the world, severe currency control, impending war and subsequent communication blackout.

As for the economics of it, the first poster in the "Dire straits" link above has it just right:
Quote
The people in Iran currently have IRR. Your long story short: IRR is useless to people outside Iran: there is no way to get it out of the country.

From the perspective of someone physically outside Iran, that means Iranian people have no money. Thus, they can’t /buy/ Bitcoin from someone abroad directly.

Exactly. Bitcoin doesn't do a thing for anyone there.

I also want to see a list of our hardware (asked for a picture of the rigs 6 months ago) but I'm only trying to break the impasse because this is unsatisfying for all parties.
After months of getting nowhere we should do something, brainstorm some ideas together that can work instead of asking the same questions aka doing nothing.
The longer we wait selling the hardware, the less it will be worth in value.

Why don't we sell 1 or 2 rigs, and buy with the money a small FPGA cluster ?

And for investors that don't want to be part of this, maybe it's possible to sell rigs to buy back their stocks ?

If someone won't do something as simple as show you the hardware after MONTHS .... then there is no hardware.

It seems more and more like SIN was just a Ponzi scheme.

Sell $10K worth of shares.  Get a $500 per month mining rental, point it at the pool.
Give yourself half the shares.  When it becomes "unprofitable" stop the mining rental and push to liquidate the hardware.

Say the "hardware" sells for $4K.  The scammer gets half (he has half the shares).  Given investors back $2K of their $10K and keep the rest other than what was spent on mining contracts.

If I was Tawsix I'd just stop even replying to this thread and take the money and run. He walks away with $10K free and clear!

Sorry Atlas, I sent an email to youtube from FoxMedia@aol.com and told them you had stolen your soundtrack from an album by "Justin Folds 7" an up-n-coming group.

I didn't think they'd actually take it seriously....  Cry

I reported it for sexual abuse.

- Bitcoins must be designated as "not illegal" so that institutions such as banks will accept them.

"Bank" ( a centralized institution for control and protection of money).

I'd put them in a bank for that exact reason.

ahh, man. A whole $10. I could really use that right now.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are so many people Anti-Bitcoin? on: November 15, 2011, 09:52:32 PM
Digital wallets - consumers hate them.

Normal money is all digital now, but ironically USD is more virtual than Bitcoin, because it can be created at whim.

An online Bank of America checking account is little different than an online MtGox account, accept that the former will give you a debit card and a credit card.  How long do you think it'll be before Gox is offering the same?

The difference being if I lose my password to my BoA account I do not lose all of my money. I lose my BoA issues debit card I do not lose all of my money.

I delete my Bitcoin wallet file I lose all of my money. There is no recourse.

It would take Gox millions to become certified to become PCI compliant and handle PII data.

Just read this article on Dwolla for mor einfo: http://www.businessinsider.com/this-28-year-old-is-making-sure-credit-cards-wont-exist-in-the-next-few-years-2011-11

I believe I've read enough. Where do I send the money? Are you by chance also related to a Nigerian King?
14  Economy / Services / Re: Announcing SimpleCoin.com - Buying Bitcoins Just Got Simple on: November 15, 2011, 12:52:31 AM

There's a guy in Ukraine now who sells this virtual fraud system where you enter cardholder address, at the push of a button it completely changes your IPs, hardware, browser and plugin profile/fingerprint to something random so you can card away Apple.com all day long without worrying about pesky VerO fraud scraping. This is the kind of well organized fraud you will have to go up against and Visa/MC will not help you at all, they'll just cancel your service once too many chargebacks start happening.

Wow, that's interesting.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When will a real BANK accept Bitcoin ? on: November 06, 2011, 04:06:54 PM
I think it is more likely that an existing Bitcoin exchange will become a government licensed bank rather than the other way around.

do you ever think mtgox would go this route?

It would cost them millions to fix their fucked up system to play by the rules. I think they prefer the wild west ways where they can do what they want.

20  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How MtGox is manipulating the market on: November 02, 2011, 11:31:17 PM
Its pretty obvious that MTG:OX puts up their own bidwalls to drive the market any way they want. They are not audited or have any over-site whatsoever. Bitcoin is the wild west and they are free to do as they wish. No one can stop them.
