I don't like that unicorn analogy with the price though.
LOL you're reading to deep into it.

Did anything happen with the pool early this morning (~3:30AM EST)?
My SP20 restarted multiple times around that time, I don't think there were any issues on my end.
Did anyone else experience something similar?
Nope, pool hash rate looks ok for the last 34 hours. No noticeable drop on the graph and no major drop in the log share submissions or pool 1 minute hashrate ever below 2PH during that time (which is logged each minute) Internet service may have been down for a min or less or so. Check router logs if it's really bothering you. Miner fails over to back up pools thinking primary pool went down. It jumps back after a few like normal. Thanks guys. I'm not overly concerned, just curious. It was odd because I have my sp20 on 20% fan, but when it restarted it spun up to 90% and woke me up. Doesn't normally do that. The thing sounds like a leaf blower. Good thing I'm single.

The Sp20 would have went to failover if the pool was down That would explain why I got a small payout from westhash today...

Hey,
Good call on buying the food and drinks at the DEC_TEC meetup. At least one person noticed!
I'm based in Toronto as well and it's awesome to see this level of innovation in the bitcoin space here.
Best of luck Coinkite!

Dammit, first day I'm traveling for work and 4 of my sp-tech boxes didn't come back online after an extended power outage.
Booourns.
Tempted to rent 10th for the week just to keep my average speed the same.
Ouch. If you're using DHCP perhaps they came online with a different address.

Correct me if I am wrong, but is the kano.is site not using https?
I'm browsing it over a secured connection. Cert by Comodo What is the benefit of this for accessing kano.is? Or do you do this for all sites..?

I hope my questions have been specific, and sorry in advance for the wall of text. If you are going to respond negatively please do so via PM so we may have a mature discussion.
We go through good days and bad days, but not "luck" to me anymore. I have never been concerned over Friday the 13th, black cats, or other such things, but there was always something about winning a game of chance enough then expecting a loss, or losing enough and expecting a win. Through many posts on this forum, and specifically reading this entire thread when I first joined I throw it all out the window. As I was taught here, luck can be something in the past, but I never expect luck to have any impact on anything. It simply is not real, it is more akin to Santa Claus or the monsters in your closet. Math is real, calculated probability, but not a dependence of blind luck. .....
My comment about Friday the 13th was tongue-in-cheek. I'm not superstitious in the slightest. Mining is essentially like playing the lottery. There is no luck, just randomness and probability like you mentioned. It would be like joining an office lottery pool. You have a higher probability of winning but the proceeds are shared between members. You could do the math for the lottery too - over a really ass long time, probability dictates your profit will be the same whether you are in the pool or buying tickets alone. Though we wouldn't live long enough to see that due to the insanely low odds of winning the lottery. A question I have is; is there a similar ramp-up period with PPS pools? I suspect not. So the benefit for the members of Kano come after mining with the pool for a longer duration because fees are lower here than with PPS pools. Is that correct?

Maybe joining the pool on Friday the 13th was a bad idea? I hope I'm not bad luck Been mining here since Friday at 1pm EST and no payout

I've been mining with Kano for over 24 hours and have not yet received a payout. And my doing something wrong?
Welcome aboard... not sure if your doing anything wrong but the pool has not found a block in the last 25 hours and even then the payout will not come until the blocks has 100+ confirms. No need for the eyeroll, just want to make sure I'm not wasting my hash power for another day. The pay structure is quite complicated.

Hey guys,
Should I change the minimum difficulty for my worker?

tlhIlwI, If I understand correctly, you mine with kano but set the p= value on your westhash entry to 0.0115? So I'm assuming you find you get better payouts with kano atm.
It's a bit more complicated but the short answer is yes... sort of. The long answer is .... Thanks for explaining this.

Thanks for the feedback all. tlhIlwI, If I understand correctly, you mine with kano but set the p= value on your westhash entry to 0.0115? So I'm assuming you find you get better payouts with kano atm. Would you mind showing me your pool settings? Based on ZACHM's chart, the 30 day average payouts on kano are slightly higher than westhash (currently 0.0101 BTC/TH/Day). Does this mean I have to mine with kano for 30 days to see a benefit? Sorry for my ignorance, I'm kind of new to this
