1  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [V2] Big List of Crypto Debit Cards on: January 06, 2024, 04:01:10 PM
I'm in the same situation as the other user, Binance card is dead, Wirex proved unreliable and I don't know if the physical card even works anymore as I don't want to end it locked in an ATM and have banks calling me, so for a quick emergency cash in the EU and occasional online purchases (including gambling) , what options do I have that I don't wake up to see my funds gone?
Crypto and coinbase?

From this list you can try Bybit and Advcash as they both have EU cards.

Coinbase also has an EU debit card. Not to be confused with Coinbase USA debit card.

Is Coinbase EU debit card a crypto card?
Because as I see on a coinbase help article here https://help.coinbase.com/en/coinbase/trading-and-funding/other/coinbase-card-faq with title Coinbase Card for the EU,
under section Funding Guidelines, it says:
Do: Link your bank account, Paypal, ApplePay, or GooglePay account to your Coinbase account to fund your spending.
Don’t: Use your vault, Apple Cash, Coinbase Wallet, Coinbase Prime, or Coinbase Commerce balance to fund your spending.

So if I understand correctly you cannot use your coinbase wallet cryptocurrency to pay with the card.
Is that correct, or I misunderstood?

Also, Crypto.com debit card says in help article here https://help.crypto.com/en/articles/5977463-crypto-com-visa-card-fees-and-limits-europe, (title: Crypto.com Visa Card Fees and Limits (Europe))
under section Fees:
Debit / Credit card top-up: 1%
ATM Withdrawal: 2% on amounts above the monthly free ATM limit [ATM surcharge fees charged by ATM provider (if any) will be counted towards the ATM withdrawal limit]
Close Account: €50
Physical Card Issuance: €4.99 (for new and replacement Midnight Blue card only)
Inactivity: €5 per month after 12 months of inactivity

So, I believe a new entry or update at the first post it should be added with info about the EU card, something like:

Production Cost - $0 / EU physical card €4.99
Supported Coins - BTC, ETH, LTC, XRP, MCO, BAT, BNB, TUSD, ENJ
Supported Countries - US, Europe and Singapore.
Service fee - $0 (monthly) / EU card €5 per month after 12 months of inactivity
Fees - $0
ATM Withdraw - 2%
EU card Close Account: €50

Pricey or not, in Greece, after the capital controls thing, using these cards is the most convenient way of using your money outside of the country.

I had a problem this weekend for about 2-2 and a half days. While i could see and connect to the pom pool website, no miner could connect to the pom pool. No response from the pool either when i pinged it. Changed my dns servers with google dns and opendns in case something was wrong with my isp dns servers but nothing. Sunday night, i was able to connect again.

Does anyone have any clue about what was the problem?

I keep my eye on the pools constantly and did not find any problems with the pom pool. Are you using the address stratum+tcp://mining.m-hash.com:3334 ?

Yes the address is correct. It works ok now, the problem happened during the weekend (while the forum here was down). All miners did not get any answer from the pool, timed out and stopped.

I like creative thoughts, like PoM² and the prior symbol: Σ

How do you guys think about a currency sign for magi? Examples:
Σ, m or M, adding vertical bar on Σ is another option; we might consider using two parallel vertical or horizontal bars too.

I do like the Sigma with a horizontal strikethrough and that is probably the easiest to use while maintaining compatibility across multiple platforms. That makes it a logical choice imho.

In truth, I rather like just a plain capital Sigma since my mathematical brain interprets this as "the sum of" which seems appropriate in many ways. Having said that, single or twin horizontal or vertical bars carry the message of "a currency".

On keyboards, one usually finds the £ and $ symbols (for example) have a single bar, while the symbols are also often written with twin bars. Either version is instantly recognized as the currency, so I would say that either version is perfectly ok. The twin horizontal bar can be synthesized with [sigma][backspace][equals] in ASCII.

Just for fun, here's a small challenge for you. I will donate 20 XMG to the first person to post up the Sigma with a twin horizontal bar. Ready ... steady ... GO!

The code below (CSS Styling) works on all recent browsers and produces the Σ character with a double stroke.

Code:
<style>span.d-strike {position: relative;}span.d-strike div.the-char {position: absolute;top: 7px; /* Depends on the font size */left: 0;border-top: 3px double black;width: 100%;height: 100%;}</style><span class="d-strike"><div class="the-char"></div>&#x03A3</span>

Just make an empty text file with .html extension on your computer, copy-paste the above code and open the file with the browser.

Also an image 20x1 pixels can also be used with the folowing code to make the double stroke effect:

Code:
del {background: url('/images/the_image.gif') repeat-x left 0.72em;}

This method should be font-size independent.

See here: http://jsfiddle.net/NGLN/FtvCv/1/

Of course there are also combining unicode characters and there is a "combining double vertical stroke overlay" character (U+20E6) but there is not a combining "double horizontal stroke overlay" one.
