1  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitmit - Bitcoin shopping mall - Bitcoin market place - Bitcoin auction house on: December 20, 2013, 07:18:21 PM
So, yeah, Bitmit actually refunded a couple of their inflated withdrawal fees. However, they refunded them to my Bitmit wallet, so when I withdraw the refund, I will have to pay the fee again...

The structural stability of the case provides a ~5-10GHs increase in hash-rate vs not having the rig cased.

How does that work?

The fee has always been like that but if you have a very small btc amount in your btc wallet we can refund it to you.

Then please refund me the fees you have taken from me.

Over the past month, I've made a few withdrawals from Bitmit, since I didn't want to risk losing my coins  when they shut down. For every withdrawal I've had to pay a quite hefty withdrawal fee. I think the current Bitmit owners have been greedy with the fees, and by being vague about the actual closing date they have tricked many of us to make more frequent withdrawals than would have been necessary, had we been informed about the final closing date from the start.
How much are the withdrawal fees?
Fee: 0.001 Bitcoin
It's way too much. And how much of it actually goes into tx fees?
0.0001 BTC. They are keeping 90% of the fee, and making ~ 0.75 USD in fees for every withdrawal (even more before the correction of recent days).

Yes, I can now access the site.

I've been unable to reach Bitmit for several days now. I have pending refund requests that I must handle, but I can't access the site. The refunds will be done automatically in a few days, and that's not god at all.

But the system is easily gamed.  The seller can send an empty box, and provide a tracking number to the escrow company to "prove" that they sent the item and then it is the seller's word against the buyers word about what was in the box.

That would not have fooled Bitmit's Escrow system. They made individual inquiries in every case, AFAIK. A tracking number is $2 and proves nothing.

I was making 1-2 sales per day using bitmit. Using coingig and cryptothrift I have made 1 sale in the past week. I miss bitmit.

Now how many of these are scam sites?  Roll Eyes

Very good point! https://komodosites.com is looking very good and cheap, but I can't seem to find much reviews or customer feedback online. Has anyone heard of them before?

It took me some time but I found these services that provide hosting for BTC, choose the ones that suite you Smiley

...

Wow, thanks!

I will be opening my own store. It will be a while though. I will announce it here when it's ready.

How about I incorporate you into my plan (nothing hosted there is in use), and you pay me in BTC?

What plan is that?

So, 99% of the time? One week of downtime per year?

How about http://crowncloud.net operated by Graet?

Their $5 plan looks OK. I would prefer a US host though, as most of my customers are American.
15  Economy / Services / [WTB] Web host for BTC on: November 10, 2013, 10:42:22 AM
I'm looking for a web host that accepts BTC payments.

My requirements:
  • 3GB space
  • 40GB bandwidth (my estimation is 250 visitors per day, 5MB each)
  • PHP, MySQL and so on suitable for a Woocommerce Wordpress site.
  • Help with domain registration, SSL certificate.
  • Scalability. I might not need the 3/40GB right away - if I could start out cheap and pay more as the requirements grow, that would be great.

If you are a web host, please let me know what you can offer.
If you have experience of any web host accepting BTC payments, please share.

how much do you think the site is worth???

Hard to say. 50k USD?
Shocked  What are you basing that on?  The risk and liability is huge with possible backdoors left in there.  P & L is not known.  And transfer has to go smooth with an owner who seems not interested in revealing a lot.

I pretty much just made it up, to start the discussion.

If BitMit is shutting down, what will happen to orders and payments that are still in escrow?
