1  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Two-factor authorization (trustedcoin) with multiple devices afterwards on: April 04, 2015, 01:59:58 AM
Yup, I ended up just creating a new Electrum 2fa wallet, scan the QR code that Electrum shows me to both of my devices, and then sent all my existing bitcoins in my old 2fa wallet to the newly created one.

It looks like SuperSU offers PIN protection only for its pro version: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053

Agreed that Authy vs Google Authenticator (or FreeOTP if you prefer, which is open source) is a convenience vs security & privacy decision.

I don't think there's any way to replicate your Google Authenticator into another device unless your first device is rooted (and even then, it might be a little tricky unless your second device was also rooted).

Both my devices are rooted. I tried this here:

http://android.stackexchange.com/a/86861

but I'm totally unfamiliar with these things, and when I tried the adb pull thing, it just gave me "device not found."

I haven't tried this answer yet, which is in the same thread:

http://android.stackexchange.com/a/92140

Instead, I might just create a new 2fa wallet, get the QR code with both of my devices, and then send all my bitcoins in my current 2fa wallet to this new 2fa wallet.  I imagine that's easier than messing around with android root stuff that's beyond my head.  Plus, theoretically, copying and pasting the android files that contain my Google Authenticator stuff into my desktop seems like an extra security risk.

Did you note down the 25 word mnemonic when creating the wallet? If in future you lose access to your phone you can recover your wallet using that mnemonic. That's your failsafe. After you recover the wallet using the mnemonic it ceases to be a 2fa wallet.

So it becomes a regular wallet after recovering?  That makes sense, thanks.

Right now, I'm thinking of just creating a new 2fa wallet, get the new QR code with both my phone and tablet, and then send all my bitcoins in my current 2fa wallet to my new one.

Yeah, Authy does feel easier to use.  The choice/process to use it on multiple devices was pretty simple.  But interestingly, perhaps this relative "airtightness" of Google Authenticator makes it more secure, according to this:

http://android.stackexchange.com/a/92915

In any case, I'd like to know if there's any way I can "access" or "get a glimpse" of the QR code of the 2fa that my Electrum wallet is associated with, or some other way to use Google Authenticator/trustedcoin on 2 devices.

I've set up a 2fa Electrum wallet, and I had Google Authenticator on my phone recognize the QR code that was shown on screen during the set up so that my Google Authenticator has a trustedcoin.com account that gives me that 6-digit code every 30 seconds or so.  However, I'd like to be able to use my Electrum account in case I lose my phone.  Can I set up the same thing with Google Authenticator on my tablet?  I didn't print out or save an image of the QR code that was given by Electrum during the initial set up.

Thanks!

I thought that the fact that I successfully entered the Google Authenticator/trustedcoin code when I signed up initially for a 2-factor authorization Electrum wallet meant I had resolved the time issue... but I tried Settings, Time Correction for codes, and Sync now in Google Authenticator.  It said that the time was synced but there was no time change (I assume because I had already synced it before).  But then, I tried to send money in Electrum and it worked...  So yeah, apparently there was a difference.  For the record, as of now, I last synced my phone's clock using Google Authenticator's "Sync now" and my desktop computer with "time.windows.com".

Thanks!
7  Bitcoin / Electrum / Sending BTC with two-factor authorization, issues on: March 30, 2015, 07:06:27 PM
I'm trying to send BTC from my Electrum wallet. My wallet has two-factor authorization, which uses Google Authenticator/trustedcoin.com

I enter my password and the code that Google Authenticator gives me, and the transaction doesn't seem to complete and instead says something like "Status: Partially signed (1/2)". (I've tried this many, many times with the same result.)

Does anyone have issues like this or know what might be causing this? I had a similar issue when initially creating this two-factor authorization wallet, but realized that the issue was my phone's clock wasn't synchronized with the internet, so once I synchronized that, my Google Authenticator gave me correct codes and I was able to create the wallet. So I have at least once, successfully entered a Google Authenticator code into Electrum. Currently, I've made sure to synch my phone's time to the internet as well as my desktop's time to "time.windows.com". So I feel like I have that covered, so I don't know what is causing this current issue with sending BTC and the Google Authenticator code thing.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
8  Bitcoin / Electrum / New 2FA wallet installation problem at QR Code/Google Authenticator step on: March 23, 2015, 05:01:17 AM
Hello,

I am a complete noobie and an trying to install an Electrum wallet. I'm using Windows 7.

I downloaded the latest Windows installer from their website and chose the two-factor authorization wallet. Everything was going well (12-word seed, password, e-mail) until it asked for verification via a QR code and Google Authenticator. I downloaded Google Authenticator on my phone and let my phone scan the QR image. It gave me a code number, which I then entered into Electrum. When I clicked next/OK, the Electrum window says:

incorrect password, aborting

and there is a error message that pops up that says:

__init__() takes exactly 2 arguments (3 given)

When I load up Electrum again, it goes right to the section where it asks for your e-mail. When I enter my e-mail or anything random, it gives me this error message:

xpubkey1 and xpubkey2 already associated with existing cosigner

and the program closes. If I load up Electrum again, the same thing happens: asks for my e-mail, and whatever I enter, gives the "xpubkey" message and closes.

I can try to restart the new wallet installation process by deleting the Electrum folder in my AppData/Roaming folder, but the same thing happens at the QR Code and Google Authenticator step (the "init" error message) and then it goes back to this state (asks for e-mail and then the "xpubkey" message).

Any help will be appreciated, thanks.
