1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell kernels. on: August 18, 2015, 10:04:18 PM

Don't think of it as thread jacking. Instead think of it as an exchange. The more people talk about a coin and show interest then the more likely an exchange might add it.

Maybe sp_ was unaware of that other coin. If enough people show interest in that also maybe a dev might show interest and pick it up.

I am pretty sure they don't spend all day scouring the forums for new things that are out.

Wink

An Exchange... Sounds good to me.

I was not insinuating djm was hijacking because i am pretty sure he/she works well with sp to develop this..  I was just thinking out loud is all.

well I adjusted it and now nicehash web frontend is down.. so I waits

DIFFICULTY MULTIPLIER--

Have you been reading in the thread?  The difficulty multiplier "--diff 2" or "--diff 0.5" may need to be set, depending on precisely which version of ccminer you are using.

Basicially, there is a hard-coded difficulty value in the ccminer code.  If that value does not match the value set in the POOL's code, then the MINER needs to adjust his ccminer with the proper "-diff" value for agreement with hashing values at the pool, and locally.       --scryptr

I was under the impression that was fixed with rel_60  I must have gotten it confused with djm version sorry for getting so uptight..
sometimes this thead seems like its being hijacked and I am reading info for one ccminer and applying it to another. I seriously have dyslexia so it takes me some time to figure it out

so I am trying to mine lyra2v2 at nicehash
ccminer is reporting

but Nicehash only credits me for

is there anything I can do on my end to make these figures match.

I considered a different pool but then with pool fees, transfer fees and exchange fees it doesn't seem worth the trouble. (I am probably doing it wrong but such is life)

has anyone figured out a solution to the memory leak on the newer builds?  it seems to happen for most of the popular algos.

here's what happens:  reboot, start a fresh mining session. Stop the miner using CTRL+C, get a seg fault message almost all the time, restart the miner, and almost instantly, one GPU crashes (hash shows about 1/3 normal speed), exact same speed everytime the hashes pop up.

rebooting will always fix the issue.

I monitor the cards with Precision X and just wait till they drop below 400 before I begin a new session.  it never crashes for me if I wait till they drop down to below 400

Also you can just disable your video card in Control Panel > Hardware & Sound > Device Manager

then Re-Enable it after a couple of seconds and you wont have to reboot.

(I dont have my monitor connected to my Mining GPU's either so disabling the card does not prevent me from seeing what I am doing. I am not sure what will happen if you disable the card you are using with your Monitor )
7  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Stuck on a block on: July 31, 2015, 01:18:34 AM
I figured as much.. I have read they are stuck on a bad block somewhere and I thought to myself. "there is no such thing, its just dumb luck"
8  Bitcoin / Mining / Stuck on a block on: July 31, 2015, 01:11:58 AM
I see pools saying they get stuck on a block,

I am guessing that they are not really stuck on a block they just have not solved any in awhile and they are just saying they are stuck..

its not like a block gets assigned to a pool and they hash away at it until it is solved... if I understand it correctly, its just bad luck and they have not solved one in awhile.

ok I think I am installed now I carry on to actually configure my p2pool server

thanks

Run sudo apt-get install python-zope.interface python-twisted python-twisted-web, navigate to p2pool directory and then run python run_p2pool.py --help.

Note: --help lists all commands you can use.

I already think i have python in correctly

python-twisted is already the newest version.
python-twisted-web is already the newest version.
python-zope.interface is already the newest version.

I just installed curl and now I am getting further.

sudo apt-get install curl

make worked to a point and now I have

why does the stats page only show up until May
will this work on a dedicated box I am setting up - intel atom board with 2g ram and 80g hd ,  ubuntu 64 os
I was hoping this box would be enough to run both the bitcoin node/sever and the p2pool software.

since I have not installed ubuntu yet would it be advisable to go with 32 or 64bit.. and is there any cheat sheets for avoiding mistakes and reducing my time to start

The hash stats only show from when the node was installed, so each p2pool node will have a different length of history.

You should be able to run both the bitcoin core and p2pool software with with your setup without issue.  64-bit OS would be best, I think.

I have a p2pool setup guide for litecoin on linux which might be some help.  Bitcoin p2pool setup is virtually the same.  There are lots of pretty decent guide in these forums, or a quick google search.  Disclaimer, my guide may not be 100% up-to-date because I am lazy (particularly for compiling litecoin core), but I think the p2pool setup part hasn't really changed much since the last time I updated.

Feel free to PM with if you have specific questions, or just post them here if you think others may benefit from the Q&A.

I installed ubuntu 15.04 then installed bitcoin and let it synchronize. created a bitcoin.conf to have it run as a server and attempted to install p2pool

I first followed the instructions on p2pool.in

sudo apt-get install git
git clone https://github.com/forrestv/p2pool.git
cd p2pool
make

up until I typed make.. I was doing great  but when I did I got this

nubminer@bit-server:~/p2pool$ make
mkdir -p "/home/nubminer/p2pool/.cache"/pyenv
curl -L 'https://pypi.python.org/packages/source/v/virtualenv/virtualenv-1.11.6.tar.gz' >'/home/nubminer/p2pool/.cache/pyenv/virtualenv-1.11.6.tar.gz' || { rm -f '/home/nubminer/p2pool/.cache/pyenv/virtualenv-1.11.6.tar.gz'; exit 1; }
/bin/sh: 1: curl: not found
Makefile:51: recipe for target '/home/nubminer/p2pool/.cache/pyenv/virtualenv-1.11.6.tar.gz' failed
make: *** [/home/nubminer/p2pool/.cache/pyenv/virtualenv-1.11.6.tar.gz] Error 1

so I decided to ram a python down its throat with

sudo apt-get install python-twisted python-argparse

and make still does nothing for me.

I never installed python or twisted since I really dont know the path

so I tried following your litecoin guide and I believe I am at the same point .. I need to Make or install

so I tried and I get the following

nubminer@bit-server:~/p2pool$ sudo python setup.py install
[sudo] password for nubminer:
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "setup.py", line 9, in <module>

Hello.

I modified the original firmware
Changed only cgminer 4.8-4.9 kolivas and fixed -queue 0
After reboot or anything is not reset.

well I just finished the dishes and I see I finally received 1 confirmation.
wow almost 5 hours ...   c'est la vie
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: upgraded to 10.2 and now no confirmations on a transaction on: June 17, 2015, 02:27:58 AM
well almost four hours and still no confirmations...
Blockchain says it was sent with medium Priority  " Estimated Confirmation Time   Within 6 Blocks (Medium Priority)  "

this can go on the list of what is wrong with bitcoin .. can you imagine if I was at a restaurant or store and they would not let me leave till I got 1 confirmation... I would be washing dishes by now I think lol
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: upgraded to 10.2 and now no confirmations on a transaction on: June 17, 2015, 01:32:59 AM
I do see it on the blockchain so I know its out there on the Interweb .. i will hurry up and wait
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / upgraded to 10.2 and now no confirmations on a transaction on: June 17, 2015, 12:43:53 AM
subject says it all...

I recently upgraded to 10.2 and have been receiving payments just fine.

however I attempted to send 1btc and it has not confirmed in a couple of hours now..

I did not adjust the time/fee structure and the last time I set it I had the slider 1 down from the fastest confirm in next block area.

anyway.. I look at the wiki and I find

-zapwallettxes         Clear list of wallet transactions (diagnostic tool; implies -rescan)

will this recover my coin or wipe my wallet completely or both ?
19  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S5 Setup [HD] on: June 16, 2015, 09:59:03 PM
yea I was not meaning to imply that in 3 days it would change... sorry if that was misleading.. however I think at the date and time of his questions... and given the expected difficulty the price of bitcoin the rising price of electricity.. (going into summer always changes price bracket) and also the new 16 nm chips and talks of the 14nm ,   any new purchase today will probably never pay for itself.. just not the right time...  timing is everything.

just one guys opinion.  That said, I will still buy a few more if the price was right... but knowing they will be obsolete soon makes me cautious
20  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S5 Setup [HD] on: June 16, 2015, 12:41:16 PM
If you have not bought these already then you may want to do a little research.
Look at the cost of everything. You probably will not see a Return On Investment (ROI) at todays difficulty it would take 271 days of uninterrupted hashing to make your first dollar in profit after all costs and that is at the price of Bitcoin today.

but since the Difficulty changes every few days.. and the cost of electricity is also unstable and the price of bitcoin is not really stable either.. you may never really see any profit.

don't get me wrong it is still possible that things may improve in the price of bitcoin and you could make a profit.. but at least consider all options.
