1  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: New firmware for antminer S9 - less power consumption on: October 26, 2018, 03:53:11 PM
When measured over 100s of S9s we are seeing about a 15% power drop with a gradual drop of about 6% hashing.  Individual units vary, so not sure what good "specific data" on individual machines does anyone other than satisfy curiosity.  That, and most either have a single power meter, or measure at the pod level (across hundreds of boxes).  You are correct that a reboot restores the hash rate.

Borderline cards are failing pretty frequently as well with the new firmware.

This is based on my personal experience with (115) S9s and communication with another mining farm testing 10X+ that number.

I've had five boards fail across four machines (total of seven machines updated) with this update.  Seems way too high.  You try anything that worked to restore them?

what do you mean there is no FW for the 13.5 on BM site?

I see 4 other FW versions on BM site other than this new FW.

You tell me which one is for the 13.5 th model.
3  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: New firmware for antminer S9 - less power consumption on: October 25, 2018, 12:11:48 AM
Be aware of this firmware!

Many of mine S9 have 1 dead board just after flashing this firmware and Im not able to repair it.

If there is anybody with the same problem, please let me know...

Old firmware didnt help, its all 13,5ths versions.

Same problem here.   Updated seven 13.5 S9s.

3x work fine,  running cooler.

3x missing one hashboard.

1x missing two hashboards.

No FW for the 13.5 available on BM site.

Installed braiins OS on one of the units with one missing board.   Still a board missing with that FW.  Boards may have fried....

Tw0rak, or anyone else for that matter,  if you find a fix please share.

Latest batch of L3+ dropped back to pre-gouging price.  Perhaps next batch of S9 will do the same.

LLC seconded.  Was even able to get a business bank account through an established bank.  So much easier to keep the cash flow separate.

Awesome review brother.

A question about these Avalons - is the single fan an intake or an exhaust?  Want to have an idea of how to handle ventilation should I pick up a batch.
8  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [Batch 2 Pre-Order] FutureBit Moonlander 2 Official Pre-order Thread on: December 23, 2017, 04:46:33 AM
I think you are correct on the cost effectiveness, however these are cheap.  For a newb it is a way to dip your toe in, learn about mining.  Possibly have a little faucet.  Buying an L3+ for example, is a big endeavour.  More cost effective for sure, but it really is a big ticket item.

I think these will pay themselves off, and after I break even well, that is a bonus.  Over time Litecoin will go up, and I think I can make some $$.  I'm not depending on it though.  I'm just shooting to break even and learn something in the process.

What is the benefit of these things?  In all seriousness, the larger ASICs are far more cost effective than these.

True enough.  Good luck, hope you learn a lot, and make a little money to boot.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Stratum for Ethereum. Increase earning up to 20% compared to getwork. on: December 22, 2017, 03:51:26 PM
Any ideas on how to get a worker name issue I am having fixed?

Using ethOS and claymore to mine ETH using a remote config.

Can't get ETHproxy to submit shares using the ethOS assigned rig names.  This would be helpful to easily identify rigs that are crashed / not hashing as my pool sends me email alerts when a worker hasn't sent shares in XX minutes.

Thanks for any help.

Does this software contain a stratum proxy?  Can multiple stratums be configured and run simultaneously?  For instance, if a user has GPUs and various algo ASICs in a farm, can three or four different stratum proxies be run and managed?

Thanks.

I will buy 5 of it.

no matter how expensive it is.

You are the 1 in 10.  Congrats.

Hey guys, I ordered too many PSU's that are 16 6-pin PCIE. Brand new and Gold Rated. Let me know if interested - BTC, alt coins accepted, & PayPal. $160/unit is what I am looking to get per PSU.

Also, a picture with your handle and today's date goes a long way toward alleviating concerns that a 13 post account is running a scam.
14  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitmain Doubles Price for S9 on: December 20, 2017, 12:18:56 AM
Bitmain owns BitcoinCash and it is 30% up today when they released their new batch

It is very likely related that they released a batch at ATH for Bcash, and btc on a dip.

Doubling the price is just another slap in the face.

We will see within a week how BTC and BTH price will flow and how much real influence Bitmain has.

Overall, a price increase by +110% will inspire a lot of existing customers to change to the alternative mining equipment supplier once one becomes available.

This.

Go Canaan.

I was set to purchase 100x S9.  No way with this BS.  Money is going elsewhere now and in future expansions.
15  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon 8 official specs released on: December 20, 2017, 12:15:56 AM
If they price these comparably with S9s, I am going Canaan.  We've got to let our buying power do the talking and break up this monopoly.
16  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: December 19, 2017, 10:27:03 AM
I was planning on putting in a rather  large order S9's but given the price... I might have to wait and see what Avalon and Canaan is doing. Definitely not buying at this price from Bitmain.

My opinion is that they got overly excited because of the high demand the last few months- maybe the price will cool off the demand and they will come to their senses.

Why is there no manufacturer in US?:/ all of a sudden crowd funding looks like a good idea - God knows we have the brain power and resources - all we need is a good plan and financial backing.

Same here.  I'll just hodl for now.  There will be dunce caps that buy at this price but hopefully they dry up quick.
17  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: December 19, 2017, 09:13:40 AM
Fuck these greed bags.  $2725 per unit on the new batch.  Save your money.

Complete dick bags.
19  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Is there a way to keep the transaction fees? on: December 15, 2017, 10:57:21 PM
Hi Folks...Has anyone figured out an easy way to keep the transaction fees and not pay 4% to antpool? I know that mining with Antpool you don't get the transaction fees. But how is everyones experience mining with pools like Kanopool and BCMonster? Thanks.

If you really want to keep mining BTC on Antpool, use PPS+.

I recommend mining BCH on there using PPLNS though.  The transaction fees for BCH are next to zero and you still get 0% fees.   I'm actually surprised they run it that way, their making next to nothing.
20  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: North American Mining Pool on: December 13, 2017, 01:51:39 AM
Interestingly, the Chinese pools show no data about traffic on each of their servers - US, China, EU.....  I seem to remember that they used to.  Its difficult to gauge how much Bitcoin hashrate is coming out of the US.
