I've been in communications with CryptoVote recently, he's demonstrated enthusiasm for this project and clearly knows a thing or two about coding so I've granted him write access to the bitbucket repository.
There has also been an offer from one of the community for a marketing project which I'm discussing atm, will reveal details as soon as we have a plan worked out.

There's no vaporware which allows for a decentralized exchange yet. This dev programmed it himself.
The code that implements the Sling marketplace is unique (not copied from another alt-coin) and implemented in this C++ class: https://bitbucket.org/dgslayer/sling/src/0c2671e70fabc62d6b64ca8d900af4e23b0bf57b/src/market.cpp?at=masterThis is a rough, rough draft of Sling HTML5 facelift version I am working on: I ported Shadowcoin code to makes these changes. I am going to complete the HTML5 and finish wiring it up to the original Sling C++ code using a bridge class. This is very encouraging to see members of the community getting active on this project. Handshakes of acknowledgement all round It can get very lonely but this spurs me on.

Finally heard back from the graphics designer, he's provided a price of 50,000 Sling for a complete overhaul. As mentioned before I will pitch in 5000 Sling, it would be good if other people would state an amount they are able to contribute so we know where we are in terms of crowdfunding for improvements. Surely a relook and perhaps a rename can only work in our favour, the current branding isn't working too well (37btc marketcap)

Wondering where the dev has been, would be nice if he could show us some activity.
Unfortunately I'm having to get on with quite a lot of things outside of crypto but will attempt to keep this project moving along as often as possible, however in the meantime I was approached by a designer who is prepared to give SLING a rebrand / relook. This would include new ANN graphics, logo and even wallet skin for a new style wallet. As usual if you want something good you have to pay for it... meaning... he won't work for free,.but he has accepted to provide work for a % of SLING instead of Btc. Would the community be willing to donate SLING for a professional (high quality) styled relook? If you can please state how much you can contribute and let's get it done using somebody trusted for escrow. We can work in a name change for the market (at the very least) if not the whole project at the same time. I will start with 5000 SLING as my contribution.

Hopefully get some time to work on catagories this weekend and will look into making keyword filters as suggested.
Been really busy irl otherwise I would of put them in earlier.

Good to see some suggestions coming in for rebranding / renaming, not sure there is anything that sticks so far, i.e I think there are some better names or themes we could come up with.
I was looking into a way to allow for all image extensions to be allowed for our market but it might not be the best thing to prioritise, atm it will allow .pngs which should be fine.
Perhaps I'll look at setting up static / fixed categories unless there are other things that people think are more important.
Outside actual development I think it's a case of us needing some nice branding and a gradual but consistent marketing effort.

Perhaps that could be interesting and get us some extra attention. I was also thinking about the possibility of doing a total rebranding of Sling to make us look more professional to appeal to a larger audience with totally reworked graphics etc. Whilst we are still a very young cryptocurrency it might be the ideal time to do this. How would the community feel about that and are there any suggestions for an improved name for both the currency and the decentralized market?

Hi guys, just checking in... will aim to drop another update over the next few days as a continued effort to improve Sling and it's market.

I wish DGSlayer or some dev could answer this...
Is it possible now that the market is opensource that someone could modify & compile their own client but with code that would be circumventing things like the escrow system or somehow cheating the escrow system?
Maybe opensource is actually a vulnerability in this case? I still would not use a closed source market though
I don't know, I hope its not some kind of weakness.
The market uses multisig as part of it's escrow feature... if somebody modified the code and the new version didn't have multisig then it wouldn't get accepted when transacting with a non modded/unsafe version.

Mac dev has been in touch and he's working on OSX build atm, will post it up as soon as it's ready.
Thanks DEV for the update, is there any news about slingroad improvements? I still can't upload image for an order on slingroad. Yeah I'm working on it every time I get the chance, but need to earn a living too. Next stop will be a btc value addition and then I can begin other improvements, I guess we can just keep refining Sling and SlingRoad over time and hope that the markets pick up.

for some reason when i click on rich list in the wallet, it does not display my address.
Same here, doesn't work properly Do you have your coins split up among many addresses? I noticed I had to wait awhile for the list to even show up, maybe it updates slowly. Nope, i sent all of my coins to one address. Have you tried looking on the following block explorer? http://sling.blockexplorer.cc/richlist/This week I'm looking at adding btc price into the wallet for SlingRoad.

@DG anything new about the MAC Wallet?
We are open source so if anybody would like to have a go at compiling a mac wallet, then go for it. I could also ask the previous mac developer if he would like to post the job of compiling latest OSX wallet on SlingRoad. EDIT: sent him a message asking him to do just that.

It has to be said it is very disappointing to see the market cap so low (under $30K).
It would be nice if the community would help by getting some word out for the SlingRoad or become pro active in terms of marketing.
I have been in contact with somebody that is making a press release style article and am still waiting to see that.
We have a fully working decentralized market that 99.9% of coins do not have or would like to have and it seems nobody really knows about it.
I was approached by a community member to start a development fund to help speed up progress or even get extra developers helping out. His idea was to use SlingRoad as the base to post jobs and have community members fund small sized projects for Sling.
I think it's an idea worth exploring.
More news on this soon.

Thanks for that, DG.Slayer, but it cannot compile : /QtGui -I/usr/include/qt5/QtCore -Ibuild -Ibuild -o build/buyspage.o src/qt/buyspage.cpp src/qt/buyspage.cpp: In member function ‘void BuysPage::on_escrowLockButton_clicked()’: src/qt/buyspage.cpp:224:5: error: expected ‘}’ before ‘else’ else ^ src/qt/buyspage.cpp:224:5: error: expected ‘}’ before ‘else’ src/qt/buyspage.cpp:235:14: warning: unused variable ‘res’ [-Wunused-variable] bool res = CreateEscrowLockTx(buyRequest.escrowAddress, mapListings[buyRequest.listingId].listing.nPrice + (0.01 * COIN), strError, wtxNew); ^ make: *** [build/buyspage.o] Error 1 Fixed that just now try repulling.

Update:The following update provides a "cancel" escrow function that allows the user to recover funds automatically in case the other party decides not to commit to the escrow lock. https://mega.co.nz/#!EdllAKhK!cg5JoNYHab0XFVPIg3TGL5Z1zeRtpi_a7wd3r5rC4BYI have posted the latest source to bitbucket also. https://bitbucket.org/dgslayer/slingExpect developers to attempt to clone our tech but don't expect many to succeed. Your average shitcoin dev will not be able to make it work There are a number of improvements we can continue to make many of which were suggested by the community. An announcement about the next steps to make SLING everything people want it to be will be posted soon. For now SlingRoad should be 100% safe to use as a decentralized market.

@ DG.Slayer any Timeline for the OSX-Wallet with Slingroad integration?
On the next update I drop, should be today / tomorrow I'll get the OSX wallet built.

Hello
We will be releasing a roadmap consisting of different relevant phases in order to ensure holistic development. We will be concentrating on strengthening our PR efforts as well as opening up new and more efficient forums for community engagement and contribution. In addition we will be compiling a list of tweaks/bug fixes that could be implemented in upcoming wallet updates and releases.
This is the first truly anonymous decentralized market, we have the capability to do so much more but it will be an arduous journey without the help of supportive community members who not only contribute their time but also their ingenuity.
Regards
DG.Slayer
