1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official BitBay Thread |Smart Contracts Wallet UPDATE|Decentralized Marketplace on: March 13, 2016, 07:55:10 AM
Chinese exchanges volumes are insane. We need to get listed to attract investors

a 3 btc buy up will see Bitbay reach half a million. Someone take one for the team and put up 3btc worth ;-)

Why not just pay the exchange to get listed then? After we lost BTER we lost all our volume... its unfortunate.

So we need a new chinese exchange. I can put up a .25 btc bounty to find one and help with any cover charge. We could definitely use more volume.

I still sey bay on BTER

Yes but nobody will use BTER because they stole multiple millions of dollars from their cold wallet or something like this. I lost 3 btc there.

Pretty much, i would never use them. For now Bittrex is good enough but would be so nice to have it on Polo also. I am sure that would lure in so many investors and who knows, once the platform is close to coming out (or maybe after it is out) i am certain Polo will look at BAY from another angle and we will get added. As for chinese exchanges, theres pretty hard to find one that is not shady and has not conned users.

Hi guys, I've been reading this thread with interest and it's a real shame that BAY hasn't been getting the attention it deserves. The hype surrounding ETH is pretty staggering considering the technical issues surrounding it. I still can't get the wallet / app thing to work! However, no problems at all with my Bitbay client.

I already sent a listing request to Poloniex for Bitbay, and everyone in this community should please do the same to keep the pressure up. Maybe list a few bullet points as to the positive features and benefits as compared to Ethereum. DZ has already made a fine job of drawing the comparisons between Bitbay and Ethereum.

As for Chinese / Asian exchanges, have you considered approaching Gatecoin?:
https://gatecoin.com/

From their website: "We are a Money Service Operator Licensed in Hong Kong by the Customs and Excises Department..."

I opened an account there and tested it with some Ethereum and Bitcoin, and it all went pretty smoothly. I was able to deposit and withdraw with no issues. Although, the website was a bit laggy when I happened to be there, but they were doing some maintenance and improving the site I believe.

Windows wallet v.1.0.3.0 doesn't seem to be syncing, it gets stuck at 3 hours behind.

Is this the latest wallet as there doesn't seem to be any definitive link that states what the latest version is?

Thank you.

I was just having a read through the threads and from what I can ascertain, some clarity might be beneficial.
Here are some questions that spring to mind:

1. Who are the main developers of FIBRE currently involved in the project?
2. What is the main 'official' thread, is it this one or the other 'takeover' one?
3. Are there any exciting developments planned, or being worked on re features and updates etc?
4. Maybe we could outline a simple definitive list of the positive features / unique attributes of FIBRE here just as a few simple bullet points listed for any new potential investors and adopters?
5. Some mentions on the exchange trollboxes might go a long way to generating some additional interest?

I just thought the above might be helpful. Any thoughts?

Cheers

I'm not a developer, just a crypto fan and investor.

On a positive note, I just wanted to say that I like the FIBRE concept and the way the wallet looks and works. I've never had any problems with it and I also like the fact that I get paid some FIBRE just after having switched it on and synced it up, which never takes very long, unlike many others.

The wallet itself looks awesome and I think it's the coolest looking wallet design in crypto, and I have more than a few of them.

I like the Fibre Connect idea too, even though I've never had an opportunity to use it yet, and I also like the idea that you can communicate privately and securely.

To the devs, whomever they are or may be in the future, please keep up the good work and keep this coin going. And to the community, please don't give up on it as I believe that FIBRE, along with crypto in general, will have it's day to shine. Remember this is still very embryonic early days for crypto!

Now I'm off to Poloniex to buy some more Wink

Hi,

I just wanted to say I really like the BitBay concept and appreciate the work that's gone into it by the devs and the support of the community. I can tell that there is a lot going on with it and I wish the project every success.

However, I just have one or two issues that are proving a bit challenging at the moment, so any help with the following would be greatly appreciated:

1. My Halo client v.1.2 on my Vista PC (32 bit) is not syncing, it appears to be stuck at 85%. I've installed what I think might be the latest version on my Windows 7 (64 bit) laptop (v.1.21) and it's reached 100%. So, I backed up my private keys from the vista machine and I've been failing hopelessly at importing these keys into the client on the laptop?

2. Is there some definitive instructions anywhere for doing this?

3. Also, it would be helpful if there was a link posted here in the forum for the latest client download as when you visit the website, the download appears to be the v.1.2 and not the v1.21, which I can't seem to find anywhere now?

4. I've also installed the QT Wallet onto my laptop and it's finally synced up. So, I was wondering whether it is possible to import the private keys from my Halo client into the QT Wallet? I've tried using the [importprivkey] command in the debug console, but with no success? I get a code 5 error message? I presume you enter the command and then the private key, but I'm not sure what label etc to use, or whether or not I need to add the public key as well?

Anyway, right now it's a bit frustrating because I don't have access to my Bitbay coin balance, as the client with the balance in it is the one that is stuck at 85% and the client on my laptop refuses to acknowledge or recognise the backed up private keys. Maybe that's because the PC one isn't up to date?

Like I said I'm very supportive of the BitBay project and want to help where I can. So, any help with the above would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Smiley

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: which altcoin would be bitcoins likely replacement ? on: January 02, 2016, 02:24:00 PM
There seems to be a few people here who think that if BTC fails then that will be the end of all cryptocurrencies.

That notion is false and couldn't be further from the truth. Bitcoin had it's role to play in being the original innovation behind the launching of blockchain based technology. However, there are at least a few amazing technologies that are both building upon the Bitcoin Foundation's original success and others which are leading the field in completely different ways.

Take a look at MAID for example. This is groundbreaking, potenitally Internet changing stuff, which, incidentally began about a decade ago, which was way before Bitcoin. However, to say it might replace Bitcoin would of course be missing the point as it is a completely different concept.

There are others too that might also be worth mentioning such as:

ETH - Smart contracts
BAY - Bitbay (also smart contracts, which was actually around before Ethereum);
NXT - The NXT platform offers a lot more than it's being credited with imho;

Others I like such as:

NAUT - Nautilus because of it's innovative approach to offering an actual alternative currency to the Greek economy;

and

VNL - VANILLA
FIBRE - Coolest wallet ever!
BTCD - Bitcoin Dark

which seem to offer more in terms of security and privacy etc.

Crypto is here to stay, whether BTC survives or not!

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Altcoin to invest in for 2016 and WHY on: September 28, 2015, 05:56:48 PM
Nautilus (NAUT)
MaidSafe (SAFE)

NAUT / NXT because it's associated with the DRACHMAE project for the Greek Island of Agistri. This is a huge development as it's the first coin to offer a real World solution to the Greek banking crisis. And secondly because it's been adopted into the NXT ecosystem. It's also the first coin to incorporate a price stabilisation mechanism and it will also be backed by Gold. In addition to that, supply is limited.

What more do you want?
GET SOME!

MaidSafe because it's going to revolutionise the Internet allowing users everywhere to go about their business in a proper decentralised fashion without interference.

These are my two main tips for 2015 / 2016 and beyond.

Do you have to update your wallet or is everything about the swap automatic?

If you have NAUT in your wallet, there is a set of instructions for transferring them to the NXT platform here:

https://nxtforum.org/nxtnaut/(naut)-nautiluscoin-to-nxt-based-nautilus-redemption-process/

However, there seems to be some difficulty getting NAUT transferred out of exchanges atm. Some updates on that should hopefully be forthcoming shortly.

I'm having difficulty withdrawing some NAUT from the Poloniex exchange?

Can anyone shed any light, or anyone else having similar problems?

I've tried both withdrawing to my NAUT wallet and to my NXT address but it keeps coming up with a "complete error". Incidentally, I've already successfully done the redemption transfer from my wallet to my NXT account. So, I thought buy some more, but now I;m stuck in the exchange.

But I was also wondering what happens next?

Many thanks
Great and exciting project btw!

13  Other / Beginners & Help / MtGox Wire Transfer Out Problem on: February 02, 2012, 10:08:16 AM
Hi there,

This is my first post here on the Bitcoin Forum.
I was just wondering if anyone else was having problems getting money wired out from MtGox, or any of the other Bitcoin Exchanges?

I'm based in the UK, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it? However, I made a transfer request for an Int'l wire to be made to my Bank based here in the UK. That was on Friday 20th January, which is almost 14 days ago and almost a full 10 business days.

I've also had similar problems when dealing with other exchanges, such as Intersango and Tradehill, so it seems to be a generic problem inherent in the Bitcoin exchanges.

Has anyone else had similar experiences?

Many thanks
