1  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: mmpool.org - 1.5% fee DGM/PPS - tx fees/vardiff/merge mine/tor on: April 09, 2016, 10:17:07 AM

I have zero clue about this one it is in China ?

https://bter.com/trade/dvc_cny

and this one also clueless about them
https://safecex.com/

https://safecex.com/market?q=DVC/BTC

Sadly, bter only exchanges with CNY, so that is not really an option (It is interesting I had an account on their site that I forgot about, probably for some other obscure coin. Fortunately I had no balance there that I forgot about).

So, it looks like safecex is the only viable option. Unless it turns out to be bad for some reason. I'll look into it also.

and finally vircurex has not answered me about the 167,000 dvc coins they have of mine.

That's no good. I hope they do come around and do what's right.
2  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: mmpool.org - 1.5% fee DGM/PPS - tx fees/vardiff/merge mine/tor on: April 08, 2016, 07:41:01 PM
Okay vircuex.com has killed off dvc

Where is everyone else sending their DVC now? I was using vircuex.com also and am glad I didn't send anything there since they stopped deposits.

Thanks for the heads up! I would have gotten screwed by this.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New stratum/getwork proxy with Web-based GUI and pools management on: March 21, 2015, 09:32:08 AM
I have weightedRoundRobinRoundDuration": 60. With 3 pools in rotation, they spend 20 mins on each pool. You get a lot less rejects this way an even though it is bursty, things seem to work out fine.

I answer myself, because I test it rounrobin with roudduration=1.
It happens each 30 seconds disconnect from one pool to connect the other pool, so i am getting lot of rejected.
Dont think it is a good solution.
I think could be better solution have one proxy instance running for each pool. This solution lack the easy of changing the hashrate dinamically for each pool, but will give the easy to change the pool for a big number of miners.

My miners are all stratum compatible.
My goal is load balance my ths for 3-4 pools to have less variance.
I could point manually each one of them to the desired pools, but it is nicer and more elegant to do it trough a proxy, also easier to change or add a new pool.
I am thinking on how the performance for this purpose could be affected if "weightedRoundRobinRoundDuration": 1   is set.
somebody has this implemented ?
Do you know if is there other advantange redirecting all my miners troughout the proxy ?

I think we can really have a similar behavior with the WeightedRoundRobin strategy.

Could you try to lower the roundDuration of this strategy, for example with a 1 minute value (in the configuration file):
"weightedRoundRobinRoundDuration": 1,

If it works better (it should), you can try to adjust this parameter to have the best result (the pool difficulties and the number of pool can greatly modify results).

Does your miner support the set_extranonce extension ? (the Nicehash stratum extension) If so, it is fine. If not, do not set the parameter with a small value, since the miners have to be disconnected in order to switch pool (thus, it may kill your hashrate).

I hope this will work since it will be hard to implement a real loadBalance strategy (it is far easier to implement in a mining software than in a proxy) and I have not enough time to implement this strategy.

+1 this feature request. Was just looking to see if there was some sort of load balance option rather than just failover when a pool goes offline or a rental ends.

In my config there is a line which specifies "failover" as the setting; but I can't find any documentation on if there are any other options- was hoping that because it is in fact listed as a setting there might be other options (such as load balancing which is what I am hoping for).

If anyone knows; that would be great.

For anyone asking about the round robin setup, here is my experience with it.

I have things setup like this:

                                                          --------->Pool A
                                                          |            (Active)
                                                          |
                                                          |
My rigs ------------> proxy stratum--------------> Pool B
                                                          |            (Active)
                                                          |
                                                          |
                                                           --------> Pool C
                                                          |             (Active)
                                                          |
                                                          |
                                                           --------> Pool D
                                                                        (Active)

I have this set in my config:

  "poolSwitchingStrategy": "WeightedRoundRobin",
  "weightedRoundRobinRoundDuration": 60,

For pool A:
    "weight" : 12,

For pools B,C,D:
    "weight" : 1,

With this setup:

If pool A is available, all hashing is sent there. If pool A is unavailable, hash is split over these pools evenly over an hour. I haven't changed this for a while, so I may not recall all of this exactly. I don't think I tried to make the weights different for the other pools, so I don't know how that would affect things.

I'm glad I keep some of my hash pointed here. There are long dry spells, but when there isn't there are big wins Smiley
7  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ROCKMINER ASIC miner official thread on: October 11, 2014, 06:43:38 AM
Forgive the noob question, but I'm not sure after looking a bit at the website, T1 handbook and some of the things said here.

If I order 1 T1 from the website, what else do I need to mine? It looks like it does not come with a BE controller (unless I order 4 T1s) and there doesn't seem to be a place to order it. Is this correct? If so, how do I order a BE so I can mine?

Thanks!

Rockminer also sell the BE controller so you can contact them to get one for sure.

Thanks for the info. It would be nice if there was an option to order it directly from the site.

Thanks again.

10  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Why is cpuminer faster on my CPU than cgminer? on: March 11, 2013, 06:33:35 PM

I'm CPU mining LTC until my main system is back up. My motherboard died recently Sad
Anyway, it's nice to supplement the GPU income, no point in wasting cycles.

Are you willing to share your changes? I would mind messing around with this also.
11  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Can two different NM, series GPUS work together? on: November 02, 2012, 12:28:37 PM
I am asking you, do you think a 7970 and a 6950 would work together?
One is 28NM other is 40NM?
What problems or reasons why it wouldn't work?
Can it work on the same board together?

I actually have a 7970 and a 5870 working on the same MB.
12  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: mining with pcie16 to pcie1 adapter on: May 26, 2012, 09:59:47 AM
I heard that you cannot use PCIe x1 for anything related to video.

Not even mentioning gaming. I just need to be able to enter BIOS, that's all.

I have a 5870 using a pci-e 16x to 1x (from Dealextreme) along with a 5570 in a 16x slot (currently the 5870 won't fit in the case anyway, so it is just hanging out the side of the case). The video works fine on both of these regardless of the video config (changing primary card etc.). Now if I could just get OpenCL to see both cards that would be great....
13  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Mac os X compilaton (cgminer) on: February 26, 2012, 02:55:14 PM
I run cgminer on a mac and just use macports to get all of the dependencies (see www.macports.org). There are other ways, but that was the easiest for me. Once all of the dependencies are installed, cgminer compiles without an issue.
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to determine if an FPGA is suitable for mining? on: February 06, 2012, 10:15:15 PM
Define cheap? I'm cheap too and it would be fun to play with something that was $50 or so. That way if I destroy it I don't care that much. That's why I was asking about how to determine if a given FPGA would be suitable for doing SHA256. But maybe there are other cheap devices that could be put into service for doing the SHA256.

Now we're thinking along the same lines. $50 would be cheap enough. I just haven't done enough research to see if there is anything in that range. I've been interested in FPGAs for other reasons as well, just never jumped into it yet. If there is something in that range, I'd be willing to give it a try.

Has anyone actually constructed one of these with cheaper parts just to mess with this idea?

Cheaper than what? What parts would you use? Can the problem be reduced to simpler hardware? Is that your question?

Sorry I should have been more clear in my question. I'm not looking necessarily for the most efficient parts for mining. I'm looking for a more simple construction to play with and get familiar with the process, FPGAs and software etc. before sinking more money into more expensive parts. If no one has really done this or there really isn't a cheaper entry point just to mess around, then I'm ok with that.

I have experience with building simple boards but nothing with complex mounting like the Spartan 6 LX150 or others.
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cash out or keep bitcoins? on: February 05, 2012, 09:54:57 PM
I normally keep them until I want to buy something. So I say do a combination of 1 and 2. If you want to buy something, then cash out. Otherwise wait for the rate to go up  Smiley

Has anyone actually constructed one of these with cheaper parts just to mess with this idea? I like attempting to put things together myself but the high end FPGAs require special soldering etc. Maybe someone has done a simple (inefficient) low end project...
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whitelist Requests (Want out of here?) on: February 05, 2012, 08:57:25 PM
Hi,

I would appreciate getting whitelisted. I have been mining for a while, traded on exchanges, run p2pool for LTC mining and am using a pool for BTC mining. I have just been a lurker, but am interested in actually participating. If that isn't enough, I'll wait  Smiley

Thanks
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How did you guys get into bitcoin? on: February 05, 2012, 08:36:59 PM
Saw it in one of the tech blogs I read. Initially thought it was a scam until I did a little research. Now I'm doing a bit of mining. Not making a ton, but it is fun and hasn't cost me a much at all since I had hardware already.
20  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Introduce yourself :) on: February 05, 2012, 08:27:54 PM
Hi All.

I'm a noob at posting to the forum but have been reading since October. I've been mining many of the alt coins at various times and am currently mining LTC and BTC. I have traded a lot on the a couple of exchanges. I just figured it might be time to actually say something... maybe even something useful sometime  Smiley

This is mostly a hobby for me, so I don't care so much if I make anything at all from it. It is nice to occasionally buy something from Amazon via btcbuy though  Grin
