1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: October 17, 2017, 11:51:20 AM
Is there any map to change this situation?

The product is improving with each passing day making it more attractive for even more use cases and exciting integrations.

Also minebox.io has started shipping units last week, which will surely increase network utilisation:

2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: August 19, 2017, 08:18:44 AM
what differentiates sia and filecoin

Sia is an already working technology that is rapidly improving (https://blog.sia.tech/sia-may-august-2017-update-8929f21c56f7 ), filecoin on the other hand only exists in theory (whitepaper).

Siacoin was fairly launched and distributed. The filecoin ICO unfortunately seems to favour a limited number of its inner circle investors ( https://medium.com/token-economy/the-analysis-filecoin-doesnt-want-you-to-read-e60d5243f17c )

3  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: DagCoin: a cryptocurrency without blocks on: June 22, 2017, 03:52:06 PM
What is the present list of DAG based ledgers? I could find tangle/iota, byteball and this. I'd like to research more into this, so any additional references would be helpful.

For completeness' sake there's also XRB - RaiBlocks. Very cool distribution model btw - proof of reCAPTCHA Smiley)

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] The first truly rare Pepes on the Bitcoin Blockchain! [ANN] on: May 30, 2017, 08:09:31 AM
There was recently a request to list PEPECASH on Bitsquare.io (the decentralised peer-to-peer trading platform https://bitsquare.io):
https://forum.bitsquare.io/t/meme-economy/2077

However, to be listed on Bitsquare one would have to:
1) fill in some basic info first (https://forum.bitsquare.io/t/how-to-add-your-favorite-altcoin/46):

* Ticker symbol (e.g. BTC): PEPECASH
* Official coin name (e.g. Bitcoin): PEPE CASH
* Official altcoin webpage where Bitsquare will be added as official exchange:  http://rarepepedirectory.com/
* URL of the block explorer: https://counterpartychain.io/asset/PEPECASH
* Example address (e.g. 3MPe1LfMeJvumN7ykswSwkPSoXLbheXnCH): 1GQhaWqejcGJ4GhQar7SjcCfadxvf5DNBD (a standard Bitcoin address)
* Confirmation that you have checked that the ticker does not conflict with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_4217100 checked - OK
* Social media accounts like Twitter account, subreddit, etc.:
* Coin type: Counterparty asset
* Unique features: A deflationary virtual currency used for the creation and trading of the Rare Pepe trading cards on the Bitcoin blockchain.

* * *

Please verify the above info is 100% accurate or amend as you see fit.

* * *

2) Make a pull request with an address validator (since this is a counterparty address with standard Bitcoin addresses it should be straightforward but a requirement nonetheless):
 From the Bitsquare dev:
* Pullrequest for the Altcoin address validation (Regex test + checksum test or anything else if there is anything specific) and Unittest for it (use Dev branch NOT master branch for PR).
Validation class is here: https://github.com/bitsquare/bitsquare/blob/Development/gui/src/main/java/io/bitsquare/gui/util/validation/AltCoinAddressValidator.java .
Unittest is here: https://github.com/bitsquare/bitsquare/blob/Development/gui/src/test/java/io/bitsquare/gui/util/validation/AltCoinAddressValidatorTest.java .
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
In case the PR contains major flaws (e.g. the unit test fails, code is not compiling) I will reject the addition and not accept further requests.

Adding PEPECASH to Bitsquare would be an additional boost to its visibility. I would very much love to trade PEPECASH on Bitsquare among other exchanges.

Members of the community - are we up to the challenge? Smiley

So even if there is 100000 of a card in a few months I can bare some profits using it as an asset. I just got concerned when I saw the massive amount of pepecards around. They won't be worth anything u less people buying them and to have that many is basically an infinite amount.

I suppose we the fans of rare pepe collect the cards based on various criteria - rareness, artistic value, early series, price etc. Some just gotta buy one of each Smiley

It's also true that for a high issue card (TESTNETPEPE, PEPEREPUBLIC etc) the price per card may not be as high because there just are more cards than buyers.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] The first truly rare Pepes on the Bitcoin Blockchain! [ANN] on: May 08, 2017, 10:01:33 PM
How often are the rarepepe burnt ? Why but something when there so many of them already ? I can'tfind any info on this anywhere. And what does the lock mean ?

5000 PEPECASH is burned with each new pepecard submission:
http://rarepepedirectory.com/?page_id=25

The initial PEPECASH supply was 1 Billion, but it is now down below 700 million. The lock means that no more pepecash can be created, ever. More details on the present can be found here:
https://counterpartychain.io/asset/PEPECASH
(the largest address with 30.2% tokens is the burn address which noone has a key to, meaning that these pepecash are burned for good.)

Given that the supply is fixed and reduced with each new pepecard the supply is deflationary, which is very good news for long term investors.

Fun fact - did you guys know that TUX Exchange (https://www.tuxexchange.com) is now the single largest hodler of PEPECASH?

That also means plenty of liquidity for all your PEPECASH needs.  Grin

My favourite mobile wallet by far is the Book of Orbs - visually very pleasing and great for trading and hodling all the precious rares.

Sia v1.1.1 Released:

https://forum.sia.tech/topic/888/sia-v1-1-1-released

Graphical Client: https://github.com/NebulousLabs/Sia-UI/releases/tag/v1.1.1
Command Line: https://github.com/NebulousLabs/Sia/releases/tag/v1.1.1

"We are proud to be releasing Sia v1.1.1. There are two significant updates in this release. The first is that the file uploading process is much more scalable. Our previous release (v1.1.0) boasted greater than 200mbps upload speeds, but would slow down after the first 50-100 GB had been uploaded. This release will not slow down until well past the 1TB mark, so long as each individual file is smaller than 100 GB. This release also features improvements to the download speeds.

The other significant change is in the hostdb. Previously, hosts would often not appear in the hostdb, or the hostdb would shrink for no reason. Now, the hostdb is much better at tracking hosts and not losing them. Also, the host ranking system has been improved.

Please note that when upgrading, the first time you open the new version may take several minutes. It can take up to 10 minutes on an SSD and up to an hour on an HDD.

With that out of the way, we are turning to our next major update: instant wallet unlocking. We hope to have this ready in the next few weeks. When instant wallet unlocking is in place, the RAM consumption should also drop by an estimated 500MB, making Sia more friendly to resource-constrained machines."

Happy upgrading all! :-)
