Refreshed stock and prices!

There were two attempts at setting up Bitcoin <-> Meat exchanges, and the first one looked great until KoL changed their software and it stopped working. The second one had the same problem. I wish someone would get them working again.

I remember reading about both of those! Neat idea, but I know the makers of the game far from believe in Bitcoin as a "thing." It'll take someone pretty ambitious to set up a secure way to get it done.
3  Economy / Goods / Kingdom of Loathing, Selling 250 million Meat for 43BTC on: February 20, 2012, 05:18:02 PM
Hey y'all,

Saw someone selling EVE Online stuff on here before, and figured I'd offer up the same.

I play an MMO called Kingdom of Loathing, and I'm looking to sell 250 million Meat (the in-game currency). I'm looking for around 0.2BTC/1 million, or 43BTC for the whole 250. I'm basing this off USD/BTC/Mr. Accessory rates right now, and I'm trying to keep the rates more favorable.

If anyone is interested, please feel free to PM me!

Thanks,
Xev

EDIT: Totals and prices updated 2/22.

Feel free to check it out until then. Plenty of freebies all over the site: zillapersona.com

I've been scoping out bit-pay... it seems like it'll be fairly simple to integrate. I should do a test run with it and see just how easy it is.

I haven't heard of any, but it seems like a good idea! Maybe you could be the first. I'm sure the community would buy some of your music with Bitcoin if the method was available.

What kind of music do you play?

I'm a nerdcore hip-hop artist based out of NYC. So... in a nutshell, I create music with Game Boys and synthesizers and rap about NES games and drunk-D&D.

Yes, it's a thing.  Wink

I'll more than likely try to set up a Bitcoin cart through my site in the near future, but I want it to be as simple to use as possible. Perhaps I'll try to get it set for my next album release.
6  Other / Beginners & Help / Use of Bitcoins for Musicians? on: February 20, 2012, 03:32:47 PM
I've seen many a business accept bitcoins as payment for goods & services, but was curious if anyone had seen musicians accept it?

I try toss my music around as a "pay-what-you-want" anyhow, but when it comes to other merch, I want to give folks more options. Anyone hear any success stories?
7  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which miner are you using? on: February 20, 2012, 06:21:20 AM
I used GUIMiner for a while, but recently switched over to cgminer. Notable improvement!

Running an HD6850 getting around 200Mh/s. I'd push it harder, but I'm paranoid when it comes to proper cooling.

I've been playing a bunch at Seals with Clubs. Generally nice people, and the guy who runs has been reliable from what I've seen so far!

This sounds dumb - but since I'm not dealing with any large sums of coins, I've mostly been investing mine in Magic the Gathering cards. Thanks, ABU Games!

The game is still going strong after around 20 years, and I'm finding a ton of the cards I had ten years ago have practically quintupled in value. Worst case, I've got some shiny pieces of cardboard to play around with that I can sell off for a new PC in a few years.
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Running Bitmining Utilities at Low Priority 24/7? on: February 20, 2012, 12:26:24 AM
Hey guys,
I was wondering if running a Bitmining utility with the lowest priority setting would allow you to run it 24/7 without debilitating the end user whatsoever.

I run cgminer 24/7 and both work full time using my computer  with no ill effects and no special settings.

What bitcoinsarefun said. I keep cgminer running 24/7, and only notice a bit of slow-down in graphics-intensive games or running HD video.

Ahoy! Figured I've been idly mining coins in the shadows, but felt like it was about time to join the boards and see what's kickin' in the bitcoin community. Been mining since around August.

Most recently, I've decided to scope out the boards to see if Bitcoins would work out as a form of payment for my music merch.

Excited to join the boards and see how their use is progressing. Glad to be here!
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How did you guys get into bitcoin? on: February 20, 2012, 12:12:25 AM
I found out from a friend of a friend at a tech convention.

Sounded really interesting (and moderately insane), and I realized I could commit my PC's idle time toward mining. I was also pretty psyched to find that various Bitcoin poker sites existed. It's a cool idea, and hopefully it'll pick up a little more press in 2012.
