Can I somehow retrieve the block data before doing this?

Keeping the existing blk*.dat and removing everything else will give you a clean slate with whatever blockchain you previously had.

Thanks, but which blk DAT should I keep? There are two: blk0001 and blkindex

My PC crashed while Bitcoin Wallet was synchronizing.

It's too late, I unistalled and deleted the lot.

However, my new dowloaded version is not working now.

The error message is:

Runtime Error!

Program:[where the program is]

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application support team for more information.

Thanks!  That's real bad news!

I think I'll have to stick to using Mt. Gox or an equivalent - I can't trust Bitcoin Walle - It's happened twice!

Can Bitcoin Wallets be fixed if they go funny?

Do I really have to unistall and reinstall and let it synch for another two days?

Can I somehow retrieve the block data before doing this?

Can anyone help?

Luckily it was empty.

Try Dialcoin if your country supports it.

Thanks - but it doesn't support the UK:(

Anyone know?

Thanks for all you comments guys - much appreciated.  Cablepair offered to sell me some if i can get him cash over the net  - but that is not proving easy due to European Banking Regs.  I must say, it's easier to trade gold - but I'll keep trying!

OK, I visited bitinstant.com, but it doesn't seem to list paypal as a payment option or allow the use of cards - is that right?

Also, can one send Bitcoins from Virwox to my Wallet??

Hi All,

I'm new to this whole Bitcoin thing, but I love the concept!  I have downloaded a Wallet and registered with Mt. Gox and Bitmarket (so far) and am keen to buy some bitcoins.  However, it seems so difficult to do. Is there anywhere online where I can buy bitcoins from a trusted organisation with a Credit Card or Paypal?  Am I missing something?  By the way, I assume Dwolla only works in the USA - is that correct?

Any help/advice/reassurance most welcome,

Cheers,

Madrigal
