2  Economy / Gambling / Re: lets say I had a +EV method for a dice site, how much would you pay to know it? on: July 02, 2015, 02:42:15 PM
Just use your brains here -- if this method is profitable, OP will be using it instead of trying to sell it.

This method *may* be +EV, but it might have incredibly high variance. Or it might only work for very small amounts. Or it might require huge amounts. Whatever it is, it is not profitable or valueable, because if it was OP would be using it.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / WTB 220 XCP, paying 0.00479 BTC/XCP on: July 02, 2015, 12:53:49 PM
I have limited trust for altcoin exchanges, so I'd like to purchase 220 XCP for 1.0538 BTC.

We'll use an mutually accepted escrow. Send me a PM if you're interested.
4  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: PSA: cypherdoc is a paid shill, liar and probably epic scammer: HashFast affair on: July 02, 2015, 12:45:08 PM
The amounts of money that he received are so large that I would doubt that he was actually being paid to post on that thread.  Granted, it may have been that this is what happened on paper, however I would find it much more likely that money was being laundered through him and/or was otherwise being used for illicit purposes.

The amounts of money he was making is comparable to how much the Clintons make for speaking publicly, and we all know the real reason they are paid for speaking....
This is a very likely possibility. Is cypherdoc facing money laundering charges in addition to forfeiture of the BTC he received? I'm not familiar with reading US court proceedings.
5  Economy / Securities / Re: [WS] Woodshares - A digital asset backed up by commercial timberlands (Colombia) on: July 02, 2015, 12:36:48 PM
Is there a way to know how many others have been investing into this ? I see the price per share and number of members, but not the total amount sold .
Yes, there is. You can use blockscan to view information about the counterparty asset.

http://www.blockscan.com/assetInfo.aspx?q=WOODSHARES (Top 25)

http://www.blockscan.com/assetholders?q=WOODSHARES (Full list)

Most shareholders are very minor holders however.
6  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin XT code enabling bigger blocks on: July 02, 2015, 12:22:10 PM
forking bitcoin on the same blockchain is going to cause many problems
Not raising the blockchain limit to a reasonable size will also cause many problems. I personally believe the long term effects of 1MB blocks far outweighs any fragmentation risks with a Xt hard fork, assuming 75% miner supermajority.

There is no need to let 'alt coins' take any transactions from bitcoin. The analogy of Bitcoin being gold is misguided, as bitcoin isn't just gold. It can be gold, silver, copper, and diamond, at the same time.
7  Economy / Gambling / Re: SatoshiDICE.com - The World's Most Popular Bitcoin Game on: July 02, 2015, 12:16:10 PM
Is the block chain game not running any more? I see no betting addresses.
Same here, it looks like they stopped offering this service. Perhaps because the technical maintenance cost exceeded their profit margin.

It's a shame, I miss on-blockchain betting!
8  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Record breaking block: 363270 on: July 02, 2015, 11:55:56 AM
why did F2Pool chose to mine these?
f2pool mines some non-standard transactions and the outputs to compromised addresses for themselves

f2pool does indeed mine some non-standard transactions, but this does not lead to them 'comrpomising' any addresses or outputs. Non-standard transactions are those that bitcoin core rejects for being spammy, or for using restricted opcodes that are deemed a 'security risk'. (I never understood this logic).
9  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: (Unrelated to block size) Hardfork proposal: OP_RETURNTRUE on: July 02, 2015, 11:48:53 AM
Hard forking bitcoin is a difficult process requiring significant costs in terms of discussion, community outreach, and testing (particularly, switching to the hardfork). The functionality provided by this opcode appears to be esoteric at best (unless I'm missing something?), so I don't think it's worth the trouble. (Good thing about this: it shouldn't be controversial). It might be appropriate for a scripting-focused sidechain however.
10  Economy / Services / Re: Ad space available for Bitcoin related services on: July 02, 2015, 11:36:36 AM
You have estimated number of visits ~ 2k per month, and estimated page views per user ~ 7.4. What makes estimated number of impressions ~  15k.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
7.4 page views per user? This number is unconventionally high, even for websites in this industry. Are there any "incentive programs" employed on CoinLearn that creates artificial traffic?
11  Economy / Securities / Re: [WS] Woodshares - A digital asset backed up by commercial timberlands (Colombia) on: July 02, 2015, 11:23:18 AM
This is a very interesting project, the CO2 credits generated could be sold to bitcoin mining farms interested in reducing its environmental footprint! The timeframe is very long, I'm interested in how you plan on handling technology/architecture transitions however. It's very likely that the digital asset platform you've chosen will no longer be available in 10 years time.
