There are 16 Billion Carboncoin and this will be the same on our new network. Our original blockchain has been live since February 2014. We launched Carboncoin Ethereum tokens to enable the holders of original Carboncoin to swap some of their holdings for tokens which could be redeemed on our new network, to be built using the latest advances in blockchain technology.





We will be maintaining our independence by deploying a separate architecture, so not simply a token on EOS, doing as much as we can to take our fairly distributed network forward into a democratically governed system, focused on the interests of the holders/users and the environment.

You can find out all about the project and how it started on Medium, where most of the information you'd get from a whitepaper is published, by reading The Carboncoin Story. From this and our other releases you can get a good understanding of where we have come and where we are going.

The purpose of this thread is to detail the CCE token specifically, in as simple a way as possible.

What is CCE?


CCE is a minimalist Ethereum custom token contract:

# Total circulation of CCE = 80 000 000
Tokens are transferred to Ethereum wallet addresses and can be viewed by importing the custom token address.

# Each CCE token represents 100 tokens on the forthcoming blockchain

When we released it as a placeholder token, the only way to get it was to manually swap for the corresponding original Carboncoin.

# The swap for original Carboncoin concluded in January

Due to changes in the regulatory environment we have made several adjustments to our plans:

# You will now be able to get new Carboncoin by swapping directly for old Carboncoin
however this shall be subject to a 2:1 swap ratio of old to new coins. This is separate from the function of the CCE tokens which are unchanged.


This does mean will eventually be ceasing maintenance of the original Carboncoin blockchain, but this will only be after the following:

i) We have released our thoroughly security tested new protocol (6-12 months from now)
ii) We have allowed a 12 month transition period from the date the new protocol goes live

Until both of those have been achieved, the original network will continue as normal and we will continue to develop our security features as required, and add services to it as we are able.


How to get some?


# To increase our reach we are operating a new proportionate swap-out mechanism
addressing the limitations of being on only one exchange, and to get exposure to other projects alive in the space.

# CCE will be available again for 10 weeks to be exchanged for 10 different currencies selected from a basket of altcoins which fall into a bespoke suitability criteria for the exercise.

# A different coin drawn each week will have a maximum allocation of 6.2M CCE
This may be extended by no more than 2 weeks, subject to demand.

The ratios for the swaps are evaluated case by case based on proprietary criteria.

Carboncoin's availability remains unchanged, making this equally a way onto the new network, so it is worth keeping track of the price on yobit.

A proportion of unclaimed existing holder tokens will be used as the pre ICO but the ICO itself will be released and marketed separately, and soon!

So the ethereum token is deployed for existing holders.

The only way into the token is with existing Carboncoin. Further specifics TBA including publication of contract code. Our intention is to distribute it as much as possible in the network before publication as a security measure. We're getting people swapping to show their support on social media. All details on slack for now.

Did anyone see the price spike to $24M market cap a few days ago? Fun times... granted on a less than liquid market. A sign of what's to come?

In the course of developing the tokens on Ethereum it has become abundantly clear that what we have already in the form of the current Carboncoin network works very well indeed. Download a client and see for yourself. Transactions lightning fast, synchronisation time ok, total blockchain size still under 1GB.

In light of our recent experiences we will be maintaining the existing blockchain at least until our new blockchain, an improvement on the existing as a base case, is completed. It's a real possibility we will choose to maintain it indefinitely.

I think it's best to simply ignore the toxic element. They will be deleted.

FYI the current version is actually 0.9.2 but it's completely compatible with 0.9.1. When the ethereum token is ready you'll be informed on the slack and then here.

These broken promises that the troll seems to like mentioning - unfortunately attempting a project of this scale with no access to any premine to start with (see original thread) and no major capital fundraise at inception, means that it has been very difficult to get things done.

Often time it has been necessary to depend on people who for whatever reason have let us all down and this has happened on a number of occasions.

Had we decided to raise money to start with (as we saw it acting for the benefit of a wealthy minority), rather than doing what we did - focussing on spreading the coin out at low value, we would have been able to pay people to get the required tasks done and more importantly not pay them if they held the project up for a month because they were doing other things.

Many lessons learnt and no doubt many more to come.

This coming February, the Carbonchain will have been running for 4 years. Payment confirmations on our network are faster than most others, despite a miniscule amount of energy consumption.

The wallet at the core of our benevolent operations, containing coins to be released responsibly when the market capitalisation justifies it, remains untouched as can be clearly read from our blockchain.

Carboncoin is about the fact that Trust can exist in the context of technology, when the alternative is indefinite energy consumption, and we continue to operate in this way. You can read it all on our decentralised ledger, which cannot lie.

We've been making good progress on the ethereum tokens. We've made it so that all of our supporters will be able to exchange their holdings for tokens secured on the ethereum network while the fundraising offering is completed and the new network built, tested and deployed.


To anyone wishing to join us and get some coins, doing so through the forthcoming ethereum token sale is the best way to ensure your funds go towards enabling us to achieve what we set out to do.

Coins were made available for sale on a website by a member of the community. The price was checked to be fair - and as you have been told, the assessment of the fairness of that price was accurate, given that the value has increased substantially since then. As you should know, given that you're clearly trying to assert some expertise, in a sale of anything the vendor is entitled to set the price, and the buyer must agree to the price for the sale to take place. There is nothing wrong with that whatsoever.

There are currently 30 members in the slack channel, some 20 are new.

The report on the decisions underlying this network has been public since we said it was. It has been written as prior reading for the forthcoming whitepaper and it has been getting a very positive response. We're actually surprised by how many likes we've got on one of our social media channels.

We announced that we're planning to launch a new blockchain some time ago, so we can add some features that will make us more effective.

We're going to do an ICO for the new network to make it happen. The swap from old coins to new coins will only be possible when the new chain is up and running.

The existing chain will be maintained until everyone has had a reasonable amount of time to exchange onto the new one.

Right now existing coins can be thought of as a way to get new coins, in addition to the forthcoming ICO token.

Slack members generally have already got their coin holdings. We're not doing this to stimulate trade volume - people who want a stake can get one.
