1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's up with all these people switching to BitcoinXT? on: August 19, 2015, 04:47:04 PM
Have a lot of people switched?

~BCX~

1 in 8 node operators are currently running a BitcoinXT node, and that number has grown at an almost 8000% rate in the last week, so it's goin to keep rising.

It's also obviously necessary to support larger blocks eventually, so most people who are educated about BitcoinXT agree that it's a necessary change, and are either switching or showing support for larger blocks in general.

So yes, a lot of people have switched and a lot more people will. Whether people like it or not, larger blocks will be supported eventually, either buy XT or Core.

I live in the UK, and just ordered one of these. I payed $9 for the shipping.

When can I expect it to arrive?
3  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: (Almost sure)brainwallet.org stole 22BTC from me on: August 09, 2015, 03:56:46 PM
From now and on, please use those which are open sourced and could be run locally.
Generating a private key on a website is a big no..
this would apply too to those vanity address provider..
we should always consult back to the basic law.. there is a very good reason it was called a private key..

This website was open-sourced, and it was made with github pages. This means that it's impossible to backdoor the site without people seeing that change on the github.com repository - in other words, it's OP's fault, not the site's.

Brainwallet.org did NOT hack you.

The website was part of Github pages, which means that the site is a complete copy of the open-sourced github repository. In other wordsm they can't steal it without anyone seeing.

What's far more likely is this: you used a very weak passphrase. A security researcher just released a brainwallet cracker which cracks things up to 8 or 10 words long. What's happened is someone has cracked your weak passphrase.

Brainwallet shut down because of the now insecure method of keeping bitcoins.
5  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [SIDEHACK STICK] Official sales thread for everywhere not already covered on: August 05, 2015, 10:35:58 PM
You'd be looking at significantly less than pennies a day, more like decimals of decimals of a penny per day.  There are many calculators that will answer your first question.

The second questions is likely answered in any documentation that comes with the stick, and I believe in the review thread for the sticks as well.

Those calculators don't consider that you're joining a pool.

If I were to run one of these, and get at least 8GH/s from it, and I joined a pool - how many bitcoins would I be looking at? A few pennies a day? A dollar a day? I know it's hard to guess accurately, but I'd like a rough estimate. Also, how exactly would I go about increasing it's hashing power to 16GH/s or more?
7  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [H] $170 PP [W] $150 BTC on: July 28, 2015, 10:04:12 PM
I'm verified on PayPal, and am happy to go through a middleman if you know one (I'm not sure if this prevents chargeback, you'd have to tell me. I've never done it before so idk how it works)

I have $170 on PayPal, and would like $150 (0.5065) in bitcoin, according to Preev.
I'm struggling to find a PayPal deal for $5, let alone $170 with 1 post. Good luck, but you're almost certainly going to be put into the "do not trade/possible scammer" bracket.

Ah, didn't realize I'd be better off with smaller amounts :/
