Thanks for the explanations, that certainly clears that up  Grin

Can someone please explain to me why my local rate chart shows toal mean area 314Mhs for a week and 22Mhs Dead Mean yet P2Pool stats page only shows me @ 194Mhs and is normally way below what my live stats shows.

Thx

Maybe your wallet password is the same as your bitcoind connect password written in the conf?
If so, change your pasword! Too easy to steal your bitcoin in that setup.

Miner don't need any connection to any wallet.
Guiminer has only one spot for a password, which is for connecting to bitcoind/p2pool/pool. p2pool doesn't need and have a connection password, though?

When i got home i checked my bitcoin.conf file and i didnt have one  Roll Eyes

I seem to be living in a noob parrallel universe because i remember putting one there  Tongue

I did not even think i could run bitcoin in server mode without one, anyway this solved my problems, and now i am very happy my 61Mhash card is crunching at 102MHs now according to the stats  Grin

yes and i had the wrong password in the password field in guiminer.

this stopped me mining via P2Pool.My stats stopped on P2Pool it looked like i was mining but i was not getting credits arriving in my wallet, now i have changed it to the correct wallet password i am now seeing stats and credits in my wallet.

I'm the noob here  Grin you tell me, i am just saying i found out why it was not working, without the correct password in Guiminer it was not allowing bitcoin to work with Guiminer and i was not getting credited for P2pool.
With my wallet password in Guiminer password field it works.
7  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [400GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: June 20, 2012, 09:30:21 AM
Guiminer had the wrong password for the encrypted wallet.

Thanks for your help guys, sorry to waste your time, i had the wrong password in Guiminer i am not sure how it happened as it was working before i upgraded, it all seemed to work with the wrong one, i could not see any errors, but the difference i can see is that on guiminer i now am showing a number outside brackets, so i am now getting 98 (50) where as before with the wrong password i was only ever getting an incrementing number inside the brackets with the outside number 0
ie 0 (50)

Thanks
Peter
Just need to get a high watt psu and i can plug the new high speed card in.

Did you copy data directory from older version?
If not, P2pool might get new adress for payouts and you lost all previous stats.
Sometimes I not get share all 24hours.... and sometimes 4 in a hour.

Every time there was Bitcoins found i was getting a payout, no matter how long it took the pool to find the bitcoins.
I extracted the p2pool executable on to a directory on my desktop, when i upgraded i deleted old folder and replaced with new extracted folder and ran it as before.
It's the 32bit version of p2pool.

My new HD7850 has just arrived, looks like i need a new psu to run it Undecided

your problem is based on a to low hashrate i think.
p2pool s on a much higher difficulty. It takes about 40-50 min. to get a share with my ~830 MH/s. So, with your hashrate it will take about 10 hours or something.
without a share, you get no payout. And when you get a share early in one round, it could be that you also get no (or very low) payout, because it's pplns.

with low hash rates you should try a pps based node to p2pool, instead of running your own one, imho.

I was getting shares and payouts up until i upgraded to the newer version 2 days ago, i have currently been running since this morning and am not showing on the stats page at all, and have not received a share of the last payout, i was getting shares of payout on very short 1 hour or so crunches before.

OK i think i understand whats happened here, the payout is not going to my wallet address, that would explain why it tailed off after the version update gradually to low hash rate and then dissapeared from the stats page.

So does P2Pool take the wallet address from guiminer username field.

OK been running for a good 20 minuets now here's a screen shot of p2pool running, i am not on the stats page at all

14  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [400GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: June 19, 2012, 08:03:29 AM
I have stopped running it now as i was getting no stats or rewards.
When i checked the stats page when i took that screen shot it listed me as 7MHash which was different to the 43 it was saying, it gradually went to zero hash and dissapeared off the stats page altogether.

I will try rerunning it and take shots of all screens again after 10 minuets

Hello all, thanks forrestv i think P2Pool is fantastic.

I am a real noob  Grin and not very clever setting up technical stuff.

3 days ago i setup GUminer and Bitcoin and P2Pool and had it all running, GUminer said i was running at 61Mhash
and P2Pool was working really well and when i looked at P2Pool's stats i was getting about 57Mhash.

2 nights ago i upgraded to the newer version and now on the stats page my Hash rate is listed as only 7 yet GUminer still says 61.

I have a screen shot of my setup, can anyone throw some light on what i am doing wrong.

EDIT now my stats do not even show me as active.
Thx
Peter

PS excuse the label on guminer says p2pmining but i forgot to change it to p2pool.
I have a 300Mhash card on order  Grin

20  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help setting up P2Pool on: June 19, 2012, 06:52:41 AM
Now i am not even showing as mining on the P2Pool stats, yet GUminer shows 61Mhash, it seemed to slowly tail off to 0 over a few hours.
