Auction ends June 25th, 2014 at 12:00pm Eastern Standard Time

Up for auction is a beautiful 2013 Casascius 1btc silver coin thats never been removed from its plastic capsule. I bought it directly from Casascius and its fully funded with 1btc. I'm looking to start the auction at 1btc, and have it run for 5 days, the final time bidding will end is at the top of this post. I've contacted a couple trusted forum members for escrow, and before the auction ends I will update this thread with the final person chosen for escrow. I will contact the winning bidder with escrow information regarding payment and how to proceed. The payment is due within 48 hours then I will contact the next highest bidder. I will ship the coin within 24 hours when confirmation of payment is received via USPS priority shipping with insurance that matches the BTC value of the final sale cost, please add $20 for shipping. I withhold the right to offer the next highest bidder the coin if the the current higher bidder has a questionable reputation or very low post count.

Bids should be posted in the following format:

"I bid 0.5 BTC"

Thanks! If you have any questions or requests, please feel free to contact me. Offers to "buy it now" will not be accepted unless they are truly and offer I can't refuse  Wink

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Reaper v13 for MacOS on: July 07, 2012, 09:29:30 PM
Does anyone have Reaper v13 compiled for MacOS they could share? I've tried compiling it myself, but I'm no unix junky and always run into problems. The only pre-built ones I could find were either compiled for Ubuntu or v12, which can't mine litecoins. Thanks
7  Economy / Goods / [WTS] Radeon HD 5850 & 6950 on: June 27, 2012, 12:23:05 PM
I'm selling one HIS ATI HD 6950, thats never been used for Bitcoin mining, and one Acer HD 5850 thats been used for mining for about 3 months (I got it factory refurbished). The 5850 gets ~350mh/s steady overclocked to 900mhz without any overvolting and the memory at 300mhz. The 5850 is 22btc, and the 6950 is 28btc, both with 1.75btc shipping each, I'll combine the shipping if you buy both. I'll ship within 48hours and they will come in a static bag with crossfire bridge and molex to 6pin adapter. I'm open to negotiation with the prices but I would like to get around what I'm asking. You can PM me for any more details or questions! Thanks!

edit: I've posted both on bitmit!

8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Can Bitcoin coexist with other cryptocurrencies? on: June 06, 2012, 09:13:46 PM
I was wondering what everyone thought about other cryptocurrencies, and how you think they'll thrive, crash and burn, or cohabitate with Bitcoin. I don't want to mention any other ones specifically, but I've seen a couple that are carbon copies of Bitcoin, and others that are trying to be a lesser value coin. What does everyone think? As online currencies become more popular, do you think people will start picking sides, or transfer funds between a couple if the infrastructure to do so exists? I can see both sides of the coin ( Tongue ), on one hand it would be nice to have a lesser value coin to keep "spending money" stored in, but since Bitcoins are so dividable, it isn't like you can't spend tiny percentages of one Bitcoin. What are your thoughts?
9  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Open air cases? Which one? on: May 28, 2012, 11:56:11 PM
I have to agree that DIY rigs are the best way to go, the functionality to cost ratio can't be matched by any testbench you can purchase. I will say that I built a few rigs with this case; http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/3509/lian_li_pitstop_t60_open_air_test_bench/index.html, I had a couple laying around that I had used for hardware testing. Works great for mining and I like how compact it is. You can find them for around $70 on ebay, but for the price you may as well put the money toward a better GPU

Ok thanks for the info haha. I'll post the results from the card on the hardware comparison so others know if its a decent card to buy
11  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Gateway 5850 Bios unlock? on: May 28, 2012, 03:42:23 PM
I just bought two Gateway Acer 5850's on ebay for a pretty good price. I'd really like to unlock the extra shaders by flashing the bios to a 5870 bios to reap the extra megahashes. Does anyone know if there is a premade bios I can use? All the tutorials I've seen online seem to only cover boards made by MSI and Asus. I know some non-reference designs are laser cut so doing this would be impossible, but its worth a shot. Here's the card for reference: http://www.ascendtech.us/gateway-acer-radeon-hd5850-1gb-ddr5-pcie_i_vc1gbvgapc58501.aspx  Thanks
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HD5830 Temperature Reading Problem on: May 16, 2012, 09:00:53 PM
Even CCC is doing it though, the only thing different between all 3 cards is that one has a different BIOS version, so I have no clue what could be causing this
13  Other / Beginners & Help / HD5830 Temperature Reading Problem on: May 16, 2012, 08:22:35 PM
I just built a new mining rig with 3 5830's on a ASRock 970 Extreme4 motherboard. Everything runs well but I'm having a strange issue with the temperature readings of the 3 GPUs. Every program I use only reports one of the card's temperature, it shows 3 different readings, but they are clearly pegged to that one card. Normally this wouldn't be to much of an issue, but for some reason, the fans on the other two cards will not spin up under load. The one thats sending the correct temperature works fine, but the other ones will mine fine until the temperature gets high enough that the computer crashes. These are NIB cards, so I don't think it would be because they were used previously. I have the latest CCC drivers installed, running Windows 7x64, using TRIXX and speedfan for readings, and GUIMiner for mining. Anyone ever had this happen?
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Selling] Steam account valued at $1770 [5btc Bounty for Middleman (Found)] on: April 04, 2012, 12:50:39 AM
Thanks Inaba! Yeah, you definitely seem to fit the bill haha. Well the account is still for sale, and I know that selling steam accounts are risky for the seller because of the chance someone could report it as stolen, but if there is anything else I can do to make any potential seller feel at ease, tell me and I definitely follow thru! If anyone wants to propose a -reasonable- price for the account I'd be upto it, to me 175btc sounds reasonable, but I can be flexible.
15  Other / Beginners & Help / [Selling] Steam account valued at $1770 [5btc Bounty for Middleman (Found)] on: April 02, 2012, 03:43:01 PM
I'm trying to sell my steam account for some bitcoins, and I thought this would be a good place to try and do it. I'm looking to get ~155 bitcoins for it, and want to try to get a -very- well respected member to act as a middleman. The total value of the account comes out to $1770 (from steamcalulator.com), I'll provide a list of games at the bottom of the post just because its pretty long. I'm not going to provide a username publicly on the forum just incase someone from valve is perusing the board. The account has no VaC bans or reports, all the games work online, and I've owned it myself for 5 years. I think that's all when it comes to describing the account, but if you have any other questions please PM me. I'm offering 5btcs for someone to act as a middleman, I don't exactly know what this kind of service entitles in terms of payment, so if its insultably low, just let me know. I will insist that the person who does act as a middleman be very well reputable, hero member, and just generally someone who isn't going to run away with anything. Now I know that I'm just a newbie here, so I've tried to think of a process that will ensure all parties involved at least have some peace of mind. It goes as follows (Its a little long and probably roundabout, but just stick with me):

1. Find a buyer and a middleman (That's a given Tongue)
2. I'll send my login information to the middleman with Steamguard enabled, and PM the verification code once he lets me know he's ready. From there he can make sure that all the details about the account are true, and PM the buyer that the account is legit
3. The buyer then can transfer the bitcoins to the middleman, and let me know that he's ready.
4. Once the middleman gets the transaction verified, I'll disable steamguard, change the password, and send the account details to the buyer (Or middleman, I don't think it would make a difference)
5. Once the buyer logs in and changes the account details, he can contact the middleman, who can send the bitcoins my way, taking the 5btc for himself
6.Badaboom, badabang, happy seller and customer.

I think I covered all the bases there, but if theres a glaring security hole somewhere in there, let me know.

-A note regarding online games-
Theres a couple on games on the account that need a 3rd party login to access the online features (Company of Heroes and GTAIV spring to mind), so I'll try to change all the passwords on those and ship them off with the account details. If I miss one or two, the buyer can contact me via email and I'll change the accounts as quickly as possible.

-A note regarding username and such-
Now I don't work at valve, and don't know what kind of safeguards to prevent people from selling/trading accounts, so I think it would be wise to take some precautions so that no little red flags pop up a Valve HQ

1.I'll remove most of my friends from the account, but I'll leave the couple that haven't logged in for 300+ days, this will make sure there isn't one big "friend dump"
2.I think its a good idea not to immediately change the community profiles name, location, or other such details for a while, but instead do it gradually
3.This may just be me being paranoid, but I might register the account to a new email that's similar enough to my old one, I know people get new email addresses all the time, but hey, can't be to careful.

Well I think that's it, don't hesitate to ask me questions about anything or question my method of trading, if anyone has a better idea of how to go about this, just let me know. Thanks

16  Other / Beginners & Help / Selling Steam account? on: April 01, 2012, 03:27:57 PM
I've had my steam account for many years and have accumulated many games (damn steam sales!), but lately my interest in gaming has been waining. Now I know that its against Valves ToS to sell your steam account, but I've really taken an interest in Bitcoin mining, and was wondering if there was a way to sell your account anonymously without the fear of enticing GabeN's wrath. My accounts worth around $1750, and say if I sold it for ~$1000-$1200 (in bitcoins of course!), it would get me well on my way to doing some decent mining. I'm just wondering whats the best way to go about this. Since I have no cred on the forums, and its a digital good, I'd really like to avoid the mexican standoff when it comes to trading digital things for digital money. Any thoughts?
