Dang. Well, I guess it's some comfort that it's not me.

Thanks. Smiley

Hi, folks. I haven't been mining in a while--long enough that I had to unban myself--but I ran into problems (lots of obscure Java errors) running the older version of DM I had installed. So I upgraded to the latest version (linked at the top of this thread). Now I'm getting complaints about "unparsable JSON" when I try to mine (see below).

Am I doing something obviously wrong?

DiabloMiner-Windows.exe -u username -p password -o bitcoinpool.com -p 8334 -v 2 -w 128 -f 15 -g 60

Ah-ha! So that explains why the setting doesn't seem to make a difference for me! Thanks for the explanation. Smiley

Hi, folks. I'm experimenting with using my 6770 for mining using DiabloMiner. I love how easy this software is to set up, but there's one commandline switch I don't understand...

What does the -g switch do?

I'm getting a respectable 185-190 MH with my current configuration, but I'd like to improve my efficiency and keep the other miners in the pool happy. Will setting -g higher (or lower?) help me achieve that? (FYI, I have a good Internet connection and no issues connecting to the server for the pool.)

CoinAd takes almost a day to pay out, as the owner does it manually. I get paid though.

I guess you're right. It took a couple of days, but I did eventually get paid for one of my visits.

theoretically, the demand for BTC will increase, because of so many new services available.

also, theoretically, the offer of BTC will decrease, as there is only a limited quantity of them around.

i believe as the deadline of 21 million will come closer, the value of the BTC will increase.

But, if the market for trading in bitcoins matures, banking with balances denominated in bitcoins will likely become available. In that case, why couldn't the supply of bitcoin-denominated money expand?

I'd appreciate whitelisting so I can re-ask my question about DiabloMiner in the appropriate thread.

Macroeconomics courses (for what I've learned of it by listening to iTunes U lectures from Berkeley) seem pretty accurate as I see them... Although you have to wade through all the garbage about how centralized fiat currencies are somehow sustainable.

Actually, it's rather more the reverse: the core price theory content of microeconomics courses is widely-accepted and time-tested, while there's substantial disagreement about macroeconomics within the profession.

More to the point, you should approach everything you read about economics on this board with a good dose of healthy skepticism. It has at least as many, and probably more, kooks as anywhere else on the 'net...

Yes, but how does that affect my efficiency? Should I keep it at a relatively high value so the miner doesn't ask for work it can't handle?

coinad.com didn't pay out to me...

Would it make a difference if the penultimate post won?

Hi, everyone! I recently bought a new desktop and decided to experiment with Bitcoin mining now that I finally have a decent graphics card. Smiley I'm looking forward to learning from y'all...
